Weapon: Black Magic
Half-life 2:Episode two
Reached White Forest and watched Dog destroy a strider. In the base, met Dr. Morrison.... okay, who is this guy and why doesn't anyone else seem phased that a new character showed up out of nowhere?... In the base, saw the rocket they were attempting to build even despite the constant interruption of false alarms. Oh wait, this one's real? TO THE BATTLE!
Repelled the combine attack and sealed the breach. Next up, single-handedly destroy a dozen striders by myself. Oy... The stider's were easy but the hunters around them made my life hell. Still, repelled the attack and gave the rocket an opening to launch. The rocket sealed the portal storm building over the remains of City 17. With all this time to celebrate, the combine launched a sneak attack and Eli Vance was killed by a Combine Arbiter. Now if only he hadnt' taken the secret of the G-man with him.

Dr. Magnusson, and he's technically been there the whole time. (I.e. not City 17) He was also at Black Mesa, apparently he was the one who would yell at you if you blow up the microwave before the Resonance Cascade.

The Happy Locust wrote:Oy... The stider's were easy but the hunters around them made my life hell.

That was the rough part. The Striders were simple enough, but the Hunters made everything much more difficult.

Combine Advisor, and yeah, now the number of people who know about the G-Man have dropped significantly. Breen might have known, and Kleiner might even know, and there's the slightest chance GLaDOS knows, but the only one who knows about the G-Man for now is Gordon.

I said it's the slightest chance, so I dunno. GLaDOS does say she's "The only thing standing between us and them" though she probably meant the Combine or Xen. Or both!

More exploring, more simple quests. Found the fire ants' source under Grayditch and the scientist who caused the problem in the first place. Took the high road by leaving the queen ant alive, activating the pulse that disabled the other ants, and didn't destroy the mutagen. Got the "ant sight" bonus which increases my perception and increases fire resistance. Cool. As for the little boy who I've left alone in that town since I started playing the game, found him a home with his cousin in lamplight.
Returned to Rivet city and helped Angela Staley steal Diego from the church. Missed the wedding though...
Arrived at the republic of Dave. Was able to get Dave's key through diplomacy. After discussing with the locals, attempted to throw a monkey wrench into the "election" by throwing off some votes but unfortunately didn't realize I could do this until after I'd acquired votes for Dave. Oh well, plan B.
*2 minutes of bloodshed later*
The Republic of Dave has fallen and it's only population is 3 lost children (although if the game would let me, there wouldn't even be that many). 2 funny things about it: 1: I already had Dave's key so there was no point in killing anyone. 2: I still have an "Ambassador of goodness" Karma level. The lesson here is simple. Murder isn't evil if you're a good enough person.
On my way back southward, found Canturbury Commons. Solved their "superhero" problem by tracking down the AntAgonizer and using my ladykiller skills to talk her out of her attacks on the town. Got her armor as a bonus.
My travels then took me to the "Temple of the Union", a home for escaped slaves who worship Lincoln. Agreed to help them rebuild the Lincoln Memorial (the head of which has somehow found it's way to the Temple). Also needed to get lincoln's picture from the museum of history. Luckily I had already cleared out the feral ghouls there on a previous trip so there was little resistance this time around.
Figured that while I was there I would explore the lincoln memorial. Turns out its a slaver's hideout. My options now are to kill the slavers and help the slaves, or help the slavers who will then hunt down the slaves. :-?

Decided to do the honorable thing and kill everyone at the Lincolm memorial. The slavers are toast. Went back to the Temple of the union and informed the former slaves that the monument was clear.

I seem to have hit a glitch in the game. The slaves said to meet them at the memorial, but when I go there I don't see any of them. They've already cleared out of the temple of the union so I don't know where they are. the Map marker isn't helpful either as it keeps pointing to an empty spot by the metro, a few hundred feet west of the memorial. :???:

The former slaves finally showed up at the lincoln memorial, thus ending that quest for me. I decided to go exploring randomly. My skill for pushing the story unintentionally continues unabated as I explored the Jefferson Memorial and found my dad's lab and the Project purity control room. How he kept up a lab with super mutants in-house boggles the mind. :-?

Dropped by Tenpenny tower to explore the area. Met the locals and found them to not be very welcoming towards ghouls. To that end, I was hired to kill the ghouls that wanted to live there. I tracked down the Ghouls and they made me a counter-offer to help them kill the Tenpenny tower residents. I attempted to negotiate a peaceful compromise but 2 of the residents refused to give up their bias against the ghouls. Because of their bigotry, the blood that spilled will be on there heads (which became a literal statement when I let the Ghouls in the back door  )

Alright, alright. No new posts since yesterday, so I feel I can double post.

Final Fantasy VIII[PC]:
I'd been wanting to play this since I beat FF7. Then I remembered I had an old copy of the PC port lying around. As far as PC ports go, it's really not that bad. Especially since it's a decade old game, and I can run, say, Left 4 Dead with no problems.

Just beat Ifrit, thus gaining his mighty abilities. I also spent some time grinding, getting Squall to level 9, and Quistis to level 10. Now onto Dollet.

Reached Vault 112 and found myself in a virtual environment where I was 12 again and living in a small town before the bombs dropped and being ordered around by an evil little girl with a grown german man's voice named "Betty". Brought the simulation crashing down by activating the "chinese invasion" simulation.
After escaping, finally tracked down "Dad". He blew off my questions and we returned to project purity after bringing back the rest of his team from Rivet city. AT the Jefferson memorial, project purity was active again... up until the Enclave inexplicably arrived and forcibly took over the operation. Dad sacrificed himself to kill the enclave squad's leader and give the rest of us a chance to escape. I led the other scientists through a set of tunnels, fighting the enclave the entire way there. Finally came out the other end and ran into the Brotherhood of steel. Granted, the brotherhood and the Enclave are both highly powerful technologically advanced factions wearing high-tech powersuits, but no one in the brotherhood's tried to kill me yet, so I'll trust them for now.

WIN.

Final Fantasy VIII:
A lot has happened:

-Completed SeeD graduation by liberating the city of Dollet from Galbadian forces WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE.

-Met Rinoa in Timber City, and attempted to kidnap the Galbadian President. Unfortunately, the "president" was a body double, and we were given bad info to distract us from the real president, making a TV broadcast back in Timber.

-In another attempt to kick the Galbadian president's ass, we were thwarted by...our own forces. Or, more appropriately, Seifer and, to an extent, Quistis. Seifer gets dragged off by Edea, Quistis comes with us.

-Made our way to Galbadian Garden (Not under control of Galbadia, fortunately) getting orders to assassinate Edea, and help from cowboy sharpshooter and wannabe ladies-man, Irvine. Then we go to Galbadia.

-After a series of near-crippling SNAFUs, including one team being temporarily imprisoned, and Irvine unable to take the shot, which, after doing so was stopped, Matrix-style, by Edea, we ended up in prison. Then Disc 1 ended.

-Escaped from the prison, and split into two teams: Selphie, Quistis, and Irvine went to stop a series of ICBM attacks on Balamb and Trabia Gardens, only to apparently die when the base self destructed.

-Ended up in a battle for control of Balamb garden between Headmaster Cid and NORG, the Garden's financial backer. In the end, Balamb Garden literally flew off, Stargate Atlantis style, to escape the missile attacks.

-Then we killed NORG, but to be fair, he started it.

-Crashed into a fishing town, which we now have to liberate from Galbadia WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE.

Made use of the brotherhood's hospitality and received training on power armor usage. Immediately went to my storehouse and equipped some power armor I found earlier. Then realized there were tons of dead Enclave back in the project purity escape tunnels. Raided their corpses and got me some high-quality MK II power armor. Yay!
I'm still adamant that I don't move the story forward yet because there's way too much to explore.
On that note, cleared my inventory of some excess and got rid of my pre-war books, scrap metal, brotherhood holo-tags, and nuka-cola quantums to interested buyers. Also lightened my inventory as the power armor is now my primary equipment (though I keep the recon suit for obvious reasons).
Random exploring took me to Evergreen Mills, a foundry now acting as a Raider hotspot. Freed the slaves there, killed all the raiders there, and freed and killed the Super Mutant Behemoth... there. :P Underneath that area was a raider nightclub. killed most everyone there and grabbed all the loot I could find. For the record, being attacked by raider women wearing either undies or sexy sleepwear is not an unpleasant experience.
Moving northward towards Ft. Bannister to see what's there.

Once more, a lot, but I'll be brief this time:

More fun with exploring. Ft. Bannister turned out to be HQ for the Talon Company mercs. Consider those mercs have been hunting me for most of the game, I decided to go in guns'a'blazing. Killed all the mercs including an apparent leader in the basement. didn't accomplish much but I'm sure this will come in handy later.
More exploring, heading south to the Dunwich building. Found a sad tale of an explorer searching for his dad and ending up alone and ghoulified. At the bottom leve of the building, found this sad soul had turned into a feral ghoul and was with other ghouls worshipping a disturbing looking obelisk. I put him out of misery and headed out, discovering a new bobblehead for my trouble.
As a side note, if you have the ghoul mask with you then Dunwich building is a frickin' breeze. The ferals simply don't attack.
Finally decided to try the story. Headed to LIttle lamplight but was kicked out by a 10-year-old (THE SHAME! ). To get into the town, need to rescue his captured friends from the slavers at paradise falls. Hmm... i sense a chance for random mayhem with no negative karma. Better go pull my mini nuke out of storage.

Final Fantasy VIII[PC]:
-Ended up in Esthar, a very large city that makes Coruscant from Star Wars look like a filthy hovel. Also, it's hidden by a large force field, and all anyone has even seen was a large wasteland.

-Our next mission: Get shot into space. I'd be happier, but we're loaded into individual pods, and the rocket seems to load remarkably like a revolver...

Paradise falls turned out to be not what I expected. the guard at the gate wouldn't let me in unless I proved myself as a slaver. to that end, he gave me a Mesmetron and a list of VIP targets. I took a karma hit and tracked down Red in Big town (who I earlier saved from super mutants). Oh well. I'll make it up later.
I immediately put the Mesmetron to good use in Rivet City. The short story is that all the women in Rivet city are now wandering around in their underwear (except Mei Long, who is instead wearing sexy sleepwear now  )
Inside paradise falls, got back to my original mission of rescuing the two kids. I hacked a terminal which allowed one of the kids to disable the exploding collars they were wearing and they were able to sneak out. I was also asked to rescue another slave. I freed him from his prison and let my mini nukes do the rest.
Oddly, the rescued slave suffered and AI glitch and immediately became hostile to me. I left him there and continued on my way. Returned to Lamplight caverns and was given access. Currently searching for a way to Vault 87.
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

Do mini-nukes have a lot of splash damage? If so, it may have caused him very minor damage, just enough for the AI to think you've attacked him.

Final Fantasy VIII:
Got a totally bitchin' sweet spaceship. Unfortunately, it's a bit aged and won't go into space anymore, but it can at least fulfill the role an Airship would take. (For no reason do I consider the Ragnarok an Airship. I love the thing, it's awesome, but in no way is it an Airship)

Unfortunately, I screwed up with Lunatic Pandora, and now a bunch of monsters are infesting Esthar. (That city I mentioned that makes Coruscant look like a bunch of shanties) So guess who gets to go in and kill anything they don't deem to be human...?

:-? Y'know, that seems like such an obvious question but obviously I didn't think of it. :?

Anyway...

Fallout 3
After the successful rescue, was granted entrance into Little Lamplight, after which I found a tunnel to Vault 87. Super Mutants en masse, including a surprisingly intelligent and peaceful mutant named Fawkes. In exchange for freeing Fawkes from his confinement, he collected the G.E.C.K. for me from the highly radioactive vault core. After this we parted ways and headed for daylight. Oddly, daylight zapped me and knocked me unconscious.
I woke up as a prisoner of the Enclave. Surprisingly, President Eden wanted to speak with me, allowing me to collect my gear. His 2nd in command belayed his orders and ordered me shot on sight. Luckily I still had my Deathclaw gauntlet which cuts through any armor. I made my way to President Eden, who turned out to be nothing more than a computer. He requested that I contaminate the project purity filter with a virus that kills any mutated humans, be they ghoul or super mutant. Using my intelligence skill, I made the computer crash and caused him to self-destruct, taking out the entire Raven Rock facility as soon as I left.
Outside, Fawkes was waiting to help me. Looks like I've got a companion now. A big green one.
FAWKES SMASH!

Looks like there wasn't much left after Raven Rock. Fawkes and I cleared out a Deathclaw sanctuary and found a gattling gun named "vengeance". AFter that, returned to the citadel. Informed the brotherhood of the Enclave's weakness and we mounted an assault on project purity led by the aptly named Liberty prime (now if only he transformed...)
Giant robot Liberty prime lead the assault and the enclave had no chance. I took more damage from falling bodies than actual gunfire. In any case, we made it to the control room of project purity where I then killed Colonel Autumn. The project was underway, although with a slight hitch. Due to extreme radiation, whoever activated the machine would die quickly. Well... Looks like I'm following dear old dad to the grave.
GAME.OVER!

Reloaded and played the ending 2 more times to see what happened if I didn't sacrifice myself or if I inserted the modified FEV virus. I think I liked dying a hero.

That was a great game. I'll definitely be playing through again just to try being evil (and female) but I'm in no rush. got too many other projects going on.
