Flip it and go, an extra 48 hours of play time isn't going to make that much of a difference to xp scores in the long run. and yeah everyone getting on at the same time is probably gonna crash it back to the stoneage.

Fix the game so it works and then just flip the switch.

And by working, I mean integrated G1/BW missions being made available, so we don't have a repeat of 2 months ago.

I don't honestly care about being able to keep all 12 bots from the start, to me, 6 would be just as fine. What will upset me the most if the beast factions going bye-bye. I've done put my vote in, in the other thread.

I just hope to keep 8 of 12 of my names. Perhaps hopefully my Dexter names as well, but i doubt they'll be taken.

That might also allow some time for someone to organize a first-week tournament or something.

I think it's a bad idea to encourage everybody to create charecters at exactly the same time, garenteed way to crash it strait away.

It's for that reason I intend to continue the tourniment we were already playing starting the day after the game does, so things can settle down a bit.

Thats right, I intend to contunie the Battle of the Five Armies starting roughly a day after whenever the game comes back up, and ending a week after that point.

On this I disagree. I remember small leads at the beginning turning into big leads in the long run. The players that were able to get in an extra couple hours a day during that first week got ahead of everyone else and stayed ahead.

Plus, that just makes logical sense when you consider the general principle that, the more xp you gain -> the better you get -> the more xp you gain.

That's not to say that there haven't been tons of latecoming players that have passed me and other original players in the rankings, but at the beginning, with everyone at level 0 all at once, the variables determining success are purely luck and time.

Ahh, but the reason they got a little more xp at the beginning is that they had more time/dedication to play than the others at the beginning.

They will still have that, weather they start at the same time or 5 earlier than someone else. a couple of hundred xp really isnt gonna determine if you will the first placed commander in a few weeks/months/years time, it just isnt.

It doesn't matter when you start playing the players that play more will end up at the top, even if they give the rest of the players a week head start.

Just open the game and create a topic on the board saying that its open.

Exactly.

And of course letting players gradully join as and when they are aware of it's reopening creates a much smaler strain on the server.

Which is why I wonder why you want to (re)kick off your tournament so soon.

We all know how people are with this game. Game goes down ... they wander off ... game comes back up ... they filter in over time.

I'd give it a week or so before running the tournament otherwise you MAY (and hey, i'm happy to be wrong on this) be low on numbers.

Becuase I normally run tourniments when Im off work.
My holiday finishes Sunday.
The longer I wait to finish this off, the less time I am able to devote to it, the less well run it will be, as it is, there are large chunks of time when I wont be around for my own tourniment...

That and I want the bastard thing out of the way. I dont really care if the participation is poor, I just want it to run it's course.

Hmmm a reset, interesting.

A level playing field for me to start fresh, check.
New job with uncontrolled internet access, check.
Dumped g/f leaving me with oodles of free time with the computer, check.
Falling off the wagon and drinking again, check.

But if I'm coming back to play I'm coming back as an Autobot

What with the debugging and relaunch, now would be an excellent time to work in those four extra character slots (and what's the code for that nonchallant whistle smiley?). :P

I'd wait an extra week or two if that's what it takes to work everything out with the Beast factions and whatever other issues are around and start after.

I'll be gunnin' for my team to be *exactly* the same...bio and all.

At least I kept screenshots of my team and their rankings. I'll put those in my "old memories" bin.

I'll most likely be a part-time player until 2.0 comes out.

I agree. Let's not add too much "pork" to the process of getting started again.

By the time I'm done with your team Trev, you'll be wishing the game had never come back! Muah-muah-muahahahaha

Be patient guys, we've had longer down times than this. I would much rather have a working game than one that was just thrown together to get it back up.
