That bit of weirdness aside, I really like how, between SG Ultra Magnus, this toy and the extra heads from the Creatures Collide 4-pack, Hasbro's really pushing this "multiple characters in one figure" approach. The only way it could be better is if they also had replacement insignias for the SG characters, but that's mostly just perfectionist nitpicking.
So far, in the comics, "Slicer" is clearly Wheeljack, and is working for Ultra Magnus, having infiltrated Goldbug's troops as a scientist. So it would seem that Shattered Glass Wheeljack is really into espionage. I'd wager they went with Shattered Glass Wheeljack as a happy little coincidence to homage a Shattered Glass character AND a very rarely depicted obscure Generation 1 character. Which is good, because the more people that are interested in getting these figures, the more likely Hasbro is to continue the line!
They could easily do this again with a Shattered Glass Metroplex that doubles as a Generation 1 Metrotitan. People have been foaming at the mouth for a proper Metrotitan toy for a while now, especially considering his presence in the old IDW run and Takara Legends comics. They just need to put a little effort in to replace Legacy Metroplex's head, and maybe replace the buzzsaw axe with something that becomes City-mode kibble creatively.
Btw, recent in-hand photos from the designer shows that Shattered Glass Slicer has a Purple Decepticon Insignia, and not a Red one.
