In the United States, not on a private forum. This is Seibertron's forum and he's free to regulate that freedom as he wishes just as you'd be free to have obnoxious guests removed from your property.

Freedom of speech refers to all people have the freedom to be equal in their speech (no matter the race or gender), it is more like the equality of rules of speech.

He wrote something that was unneeded and Seibertron very politely asked him if it was needed, which was a very good subtle way of stating that it is not. Instead the guy came back with a retort to Ryan, I never thought I would see the day on these boards (even with all of the differences of opinions, flame wars, spammers, etc.) that I would see such an idiotic move on a poster's part.

I can't post my initial reaction, So I'll just say I'm pissed. The least I could ask for would be a recognizable voice as Megatron. In 20+ years only 2 different people have voiced Megatron in all the U.S aired Transformers series'. I would have been happy with one of those 2. Now there is almost nothing connecting this Megatron to any Megatron we've previously known. I've said it before, I like Hugo weaving's voice and his portrayal as Agent Smith, but I don't picture him as Megatron. Maybe he's the right candidate, and maybe he'll do a fantastic job, but I did want someone we could associate with Megatron, like Cullen to Prime.

Three. Poor Daniel Riordan- the Timothy Dalton of Megatron VAs :)

I like Hugo Weaving's vocal performances. As long as he gets some decent lines his role could be really memorable stuff. Huzzah.

This doesn't eliminate Frank Welker from the entire casting process, of course. Personally, I'd like to see him as Barricade. Doing his Nibbler-when-Nibbler-talks voice, naturally. Or Scooby Doo.

At least temp ban them early, and then give them one more chance. That comment was completely unnecessary, on every level. Freedom of speech is one thing, complete disregard for decency is another.

Er, there's three, actually. Don't feel bad though, everyone forgets RiD Megatron.

My first choice, honestly, would have been David Kaye... But I'm happy with Weaving, and I'm hoping he'll bring enough to the table to make this incarnation of Megatron worthwhile.

Megatron has THREE main voices. Frank Welker, David Kaye, and, Daniel Riordan. Well, four now... And since this isn't G1 Megatron, even if he stands closer than the others do, I'm fine with him not having G1 Megatron's voice.

Hey I like just about everything in the movie so far. I wanted Kay, not Welker. I just can't stand Weaving. I've loathed everything he's been in so far, especially the Matrix movies, man were they horrible.

I was actually a Kaye / Chalk supporter as well, though I wasn't going to complain about Welker / Cullen. I hope that Welker gets to do a few of the other roles at least. It would still be nice to have him be a part of this, even if he's not Megatron.

Here's my current theory about the voice actors right now ... Welker was too expensive to do have someone that wasn't a major actor to do a major character in this movie. Rather than having Welker do the voice of Megatron, they decided that they could save money by having Welker do several of the other voices (maybe Starscream, Ratchet, Barricade, etc) which would free up money to have recognizable voices to do some of the more major Transformers roles. Now that they don't have to pay big bucks to actors like Hugo Weaving or possibly Will Smith for smaller parts that aren't worth those actors time, now they'll have more money to offer those actors for roles that have more screen time.

If my theory doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll be happy to word it differently or explain it better.

The more people that I talk to on the phone about this today, the more I listen to "V" and "Agent Smith" in the movies running in the background while I'm working on the galleries and the more I think about this casting ... the more I think I'm really pleased with this choice. It's going to be a different kind of Megatron, but we already knew that it was going to be.

Oh, it definately makes sense. This is one of those "to each his own" moments though. I just never though he was a good actor, he actually really bores me. To me, I was so excited to see V for Vendetta, and was really disappointed in the V character. He just annoyed the snot outta me. Then I see the credits, and it was Hugo Weaving, I just went "Well another role he ruined". Everyone's got their actors/actresses they love and the ones the hate. He just falls in my hate camp.

But, from a money stand point, yeah it makes total sense. We all know from the get go that Welker was pricey. I was never real hot for him either. His Soundwave was awesome, but his Megatron lacked compaired to Riordan and couldn't even touch Kaye's, imo. I guess as far as Welker goes, I'm really indifferent to his involvement at all.

I'm in "wait and see" mode with Megs now. Hopefully he does't muck it up.
