I sent a request for Darkmount to Burn. Now waiting. Itmt I wonder if there's a general backstory to this game? It would be good to know for making my character bios.

You can pretty much create your own. Though if you want to know what's currently going on, the Campaign for Cybertron does have story in it. Many choose to write their own stories, and then happen into the HMW. Think out of the box.

If you find a rival, or a few like minded cons maybe Wolfie, you can involve them in your stories/bios.

I've had a lot of fun doing the bios and mottos for my first six, next time I've sent them to glory/death/humiliating victories against no shows, I'll be working on the next six. I've got two cons under my control I need to be wary of, ones smarter then he looks, the other is the spawn of starscream almost...

When I do HMW Stuff it is usually in the tournament threads. But we have Transtopia a fanficion area. Or even in that character's bio or team page.

There a good crossover between RPG and HMW characters/players here. At least 2 of my team have been in the RPG at various intervals, and Sid's Landgrab began its life over there. It's the RPG here that taught me how to write the Campaign posts and create my bio's, my favourite of which is still Chompy, based on this tournament.

As for canon for the game? It doesn't have one. Feel free to make up your own, but most of the board loosely agree on a few constants:

0) The Campaign for Cybertron is a fun narrative, but it isn't a definitive canon for everybody, nor is it intended to be.
1) HMW is pretty much G1 with optional extras.
2) The Beast-era transformers arose, died off, and whats left have now integrated into the main 2 factions. The Maximals and Predacons fight alongside/against us as they see fit, but tend to moan about it occasionally (not mentioning any names. )

I see what you did there! You still can't make me be a Bot! Maximal for life!

As far as universes go, I'm still writing mine, to be posted all at once after it's completed. It explains how the characters come together and how they came to be a part of the Heavy Metal War, then goes further to explain their dichotomy amongst each other as well as their allies/rivals under other commanders. It'll be written in a collection of "Spotlight" stories, one for each of them, which is what I'm working on now.

Essentially, you can create your own universe and then tie it in to the HMW. Lots of opportunity for creativity, so you get a bit drawn into it XD Can't wait to continue the art for them, though... I'm personally a lot more comfortable with art than writing.

Because there was only one and it said it did Heavy to Extreme Damage.

It also had a 5 round recharge. It was useless.

You know us mere mortals can't see how many rounds of recharge something has.
It would have shown up as 'short recharge' just like everything else.

That copper and black colour scheme on Hellfyre was always one of my favourites. Shame hasbro is still working through that backlog of yellow plastic.

It was set up to be useless on the off-chance someone manages to sneak in and grab the weapon from the time the player sells it to me deleting it.

And seriously, a 512mb USB stick is even more useless than a transforming cassette tape!

Yep, bought for 10, sold for 100K (less my 10% handling fee)

It's how I can "give" energon to Autobots, and to Decepticons as well without it coming out of my small energon stockpile.

That's quite clever, when I saw it mentioned before I just assumed you just used special mod powers in the game and magic'ed up the energon from no where.

I never bemoaned the missing Maximals. The main thing I enjoyed was the variety it gave the game even though the servers didn't handle them well. I will chalk it up to a temporal flux moving the Maximals\Predacons back to their respective timeline.

Most didn't, my comment (and link) was a friendly dig at Wingz who missed out on the maxipred era here. I've chalked it down to them moving off Cybertron to take their war elsewhere away from the 'guzzlers' with a handful remaining out of a sense of duty, but as there is no canon here temporal flux works just as well.

I'll still run an all animal team in honor of my Maximal days even though I am a bit curious on the difference between the animal and vehicle\weapon alts. I haven't done any major research on the categories but have a feeling there are two parallel groupings due to the old BW era alt modes.

They pretty much are. The tactics page in the help section will help you be sure, but most of the animal classes are duplicates of the vehicle ones in costs and tactics.
