You should research stuff on your own. Make it a hobby.

For instance, I love astronomy and I like to be right all the time. In browsing astronomy I stumbled across Bad Astronomy, which debunks modern misconceptions about the universe such as why there are two tides per day and why you shouldn't say Dark Side of the Moon, you should say Far Side of the Moon.

The Dark Side of the Moon is seen once a month. It's called the New Moon. The Far Side of the Moon is what people mean when they refer to the side that is facing away from Earth. And there are two tides per day, and not one, because the moon not only pulls the water, but it also pulls the Earth a little bit as well, making it "leave behind" the water facing away from the moon.

Far more than in a stuffy classroom somewhere, I learned way more about the moon by reading debunkings of the moon landing hoax conspiracy. Now I know that even though the dust on the moon's surface is extremely fine, it didn't blow around when they took off again because there's no air for it to swirl in.


I think your problem is, you're reading up on myths and urban legends because they sound cool, when what you should be doing is reading up about science and history, stuff we already understand very well.

It's very funny, but the established scientific framework of how the world works is actually more exciting than the weird crap that the average joe comes up with to explain what he doesn't understand.

That's because they had been making preparations worldwide for over a year before the clocks turned to that date.

Honestly though folks, if the asteroids fall from the sky,the magnetic field suddenly flips over, I know, I know it's a gradual change, WW3 starts that day honestly what do you think you're going to accomplish by crawling under a rock or in a cave deep enough ? do you have enough food,water,entertainment from going insane,how long do you need to stay underground ? a day,a week, a year, five years ?

The point is either you are completely paranoid, superstitious or whatever you want to call it to believe in all of this doom and gloom and repent the end is near as I see a lot of it as manipulation and fear mongers getting you to join their cults,clubs and make donations to their beliefs.

I just want the day to come to see what people/the media are going to make of it.

As I think anything religious is bollocks I pay little attention to any of these "the end is nigh!" prophesies and am too busy getting on with the regular hassle of everyday life to give it serious thought. Has any of the people that believe this **** ever considered the possibility that the Mayans just couldn't count any higher?
I think something catastrophic could happen in the form of another major terrorist attack,possibly involving nuclear or chemical weapons which would cause the US to hit whoever they thought responsible (Iran or North Korea being the current favorites) with everything they've got and potentially trigger other countries with grudges to start chucking nukes at each other but I can't say for sure it'll definitely happen and be on a certain date and IMO anyone who does is an idiot.
And if an asteroid is in Earth's path we don't have anything to fear as we'll just send Bruce Willis up to sort it out

From what I hear on the History Channel and National Geographic the date of 12/21/12 is suppoed to be the end of days

Who knows what it could be

It could be that big earthquake that sinks California into the ocean it also could be that Super Volcano in Yellowstone exploding.

A few years ago when the people last said that the Virgian Mary was around She said that it would be the last time she would show because of the upcoming trouble ahead

So far we have had 9/11 and this horrible excursion in the Middle East. So if they had fortune tellers(The Myans) they might of misinterpreted a natural disaster like a large hurricane for the end of the world.

It doesnt make it any less valid but just how does it make it any different then 1999,Y2K,06/06/06 or the rest of the 15 FAILED PREDICTIONS of the end of the world in the year 2006 alone?????

So I spelled Mayans wrong.Its's not like I write the word everyday of my life

I know what I have seen, I don't need you to correct me because you know something on a thread instead of learning it on TV

I don't think there are specific dates like that. They don't have the same date system we do now. But I believe the calendar does rollover consistantly. But it takes a very long time, almost two million days or 5200 years. Assuming we have the correlation of dates right, this will be the only time we ever get to see it roll over.
