Well, my first thought is, you're recreating the cartoon, which we are trying to avoid. That's pretty much the whole tone on this forum, and I think it would be more fun to come up with our own reality.

However, I like your use of Dinobots, because it completely kills the arguement of whether or not they should be "in disguise". No need to be, at that point in the story.

But we've pretty much argued over it and come to a resolution that works for them, at least for now. See my original post, the Wreckers.

There is a lot of stuff you have here that would make great backstory. The whole scenes on Mars. (Cybertron is destroyed. NIce. Thank you.) My problem is, I think the action should be kept to Earth, so I think we should find out those motivations in flashback. Keep it to Earth, again, to be different from the cartoon.

And of course, nothing's set in stone, if people choose to reopen the debate about various things, such as the dinobots.

It's a nice plot Kortex, but it is basically the toon. We need an interesting twist on things (like my little trilogy. It's all new and fresh takes on old characters. Well, kinda). Why must Bonecrusher be ressurected to form Devastator? He had his moment. He's dead. Bring in a new guy to replace him in Devastator. A couple of things are confusing, like Starscream betraying Megs. That never happened in the first movie. And this Megs seems like someone who wouldn't give second chances. As for the whole Starscream throwing him out of Astrotrain: no. That is a pivotal part of the old movie. But it should be kept out of this one.

3 way merging? No. It would make things too complicated, and if Omega was in the mix, it would make them far too big. The merged bots could just stand on Gigatron.

They all believe him except Soundwave who is loyal to Megatron and who also knows that Starscream let Megatron died and that Prime kept the cube... Why, simply cuz Laserbeak witness the entire fight... Laserbeak was also on earth, spying for Soundwave who was looking for Megatron....
So Starscream leave Mars with Thundercracker and Skywarp... telling them they are going after the Autobots and Prime....They will look everywhere in the USA, and surrounding countries without finding Prime....
Soundwave, meanwhile tells the Constructicons that Bonecrusher died too and that Laserbeak knows where all the bodies are....And where the Autobots are too... So Soundwave, Scrapper and the Constructicons, Ravage, Rumble and Astrotrain decide to go on earth to retrieve all Decepticons body in the sea....Shockwave stays behind ( he's always been neutral and guardian of decepticons hideout)...
Soundwave and the other land in a military base near the sea with a construction site... get it... They then go after the bodies, Astrotrain carries them ( he's gonna be a aircraft carrier/space shuddle)... Astrotrain first drops the constructicons, Rumble, Ravage and Soundwave in the USA for them to attack the Autobots and get back the cube, then takes all the body back to Mars, for Shockwave to star working on them....
Constructicons and Soundwave attacks the Autobots!!! They merge in Devastator(with Bonecrusher missing) without his arm... They outnumbers Prime, beat him up and take the cube... Astrotrain then pick them up and takes them back to Mars....
There, they revive Megatron and the others... Devastator becomes Combatticons Brawl, Blackout combatticons Vortex, Barricade... Hum, let this one to them, Frenzy...well Frenzy and Bonecrusher.. Himself...the constructicons version.. They are now 6!!!!
Starscream and the others comes back...They are pissed!! He said he needs more guys,, he couldn't find Prime and the Autobots, blablabla.... Then, surprise, MEGATRON steps in!!! Starscream you fool.....blablabla, you betrayed me, I should kill you.... blablabla, you have one last chance.... Megatron basically tells all Decepticons to follow him to earth to take earth's energy ( we shall suck this planet earth dry!!!!) and destroy all autobots!!! They all go back to earth for the final battle.....
Meanwhile, Prime (knowing what Devastator can do) tells the Us goverment that the enemy took the cube and will regroup, that the attack will be fast and deadly, and that they have to reopen sector seven and to start working on the biggest moving thing that ever walk the face of their planet.... Wich of course..is Dinosaur.... So they create 3 Dinobots ( only 3 like in the cartoons, leave the 2 others for the third movie...)
Then the final battle in wich Prime and Megatron are seriously injured.... Prime dies and give the Matrix to..... and Megatron is betrayed once again by Starscream who throws him out of Astrotrain in space...like in the cartoons... This will set the tone for Unicron to ressurect him as GALVATRON in the final movie...

So, that's my plot and I think it's the best!!!! Simply cuz it kinda follows the cartoons and it will introduce Dinobots and Constructicons while leaving space for other robots in the 3rd movie....

how about a remaining decepticon hideout on char instead of mars. constucticons?seriusy, we don't want the constructicons. and why not have dinobot, dinobot could be a cold blooded bounty hunter who in the 3rd movie becomes rapticon,the autobot/dinobot combat expert. oh and the bot who destroyed the mars probe was wreckage, i can identify his head desing with that of movie wreckage.

I think Mars is more interesting than Char. Char's been done. Why bring up the cartoon when we don't have to? Mars is closer. It's much more practical.

We don't need the constructicons per se, but a gestalt of some kin d is generally felt to be necessary and I agree.

I also say it doesn't have to be a specific team from G1. Why not a combination of teams? I see no problem having a 4-guy combiner team made up of one of those huge ore trucks, a large steam shovel, a missle truck, and a large tank of some kind. Call them the Destructicons, and call the gestalt Bruticus or Ruination.

Sorry for my late un-activity...anyway, people were saying that ALL the dinos get their forms at the same time, maybe with all the dinos as protoforms still, they can be hit by a burst of high energy (From Unicron/Cybertron/Prototype Army Weapon?)and all 5 hit a giant T-Rex Statue, and merge into a giant T-Rex, thus Gesalt former befor they have forms, and when they are destroyed by the air force (Who were patroling the area at the time) they could all be dinos (T-Rex, Spinasorus?,Peradactal ECT)

And maybe the Aircraft Carrier could be a combanation of differant 'Cons, say Soundwave and Shockwave team up, and together the turn into a flying aircraft carrier(Like in Dr.Who) and simply hover over the surface, thus tricking the navy.

Also I like IronHide7's idea.
