I know it's a bit redundant, but I thought I'd toss up this screen cap of a bulletin they'd sent out regarding the 'other' song...

I sent them a PM via MySpace and got this response:
Thanks for the kind words, we'll be posting the full version shortly.

I wonder how shortly "shortly" means? :-? :???:

EDIT: Apparently it means "pretty damned quickly"... THEY'VE PUT THE FULL SONG UP ON THEIR MYSPACE PAGE!!!

I liked the theme overall. I didnt care for the first few seconds and I wasnt happy about not including Jazz in the lineup but I still like the linkin Park style.

I think I could have done a megamix that fit better but its not bad.
I will wait until I have seen the movie to pass final judgement on the soundtrack
It might turn out better than I think

Hate to tell you this buddy, but most of these bands are really popular. Mainstream America does know who they are.

The only two bands I don't think people will know are Idiot Pilot and Julien-K

The rest of those bands are quite popular.

And if you don't think so then you obviously don't pay attention to the music world at all.

So, once again, I state, this album will sell.

I your mainsream America is you and a couple of your friends, then you are probably right. No one i know has ever heard of any of this ****. I don't see any of this sort of crap to have any sort of mass appeal, no songs played everywhere you go(like they do when a band has music that sells). It only appeals to a small select audeince, period. Thats how the music industry runs. Ask any stranger on the street to name a song by any of these bunch of twats, and guess what, no one can tell you. So if you're 8 years old and a girl, yeah, you might pick this up, otherwise, real music fans spend their money on quality stuff. This soundtrack is NOT IT. The original was somewhat the same sort of idea, only, it had real musicians playing musical songs, but it too only appealed to a select audience. It wasn't on the top selling charts as far as i know. This crap is going to do the same thing, but just have no-talent flash-in-the-pan wankers on it, which totally sucks.

Duo Prime, you really don't know what you're talking about. While growing up as a teenager with bands like Linkin Park and such around, I know they were popular. Want to know why? I"M NOT AMERICAN!!!! I grew up in Canada, and a lot of our radio stations are forced to play around 40% to 60% Canadian bands, and I STILL heard Linkin Park and Smashing Pumpkins all the time on the radio. I'm not a huge music fan, but they were popular and they still get a lot of publicity. I still find it amazing that people assume that mainstream America always agrees with THEIR tastes. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear you saying that the Beatles were still the most popular band out there. Not that I think you're a fan (and I don't care if you are), but that's the kind of obvious ignorance I'd expect from you at this point.

You may not like them. I may not like them. But you aren't America. You're one damn person.

I love it all accept for the sound off halfway through. I've always liked Linkin Park and this is a nice update to the theme. I know I said otherwise in the other thread but my mind has changed. And that one by Mute Math is horrible even in comparison to this one.

First of all, i said nothing of the popularity of Linkin Park(who blow goats on an originality/talent scale), or the Smashing Pumpkins(who i **** love, and the only band on the soundtrack worth anything), the Goo Goo Dolls i've heard of as well but they suck too. I don't think America agrees with my taste in music, quite the opposite actually, but i don't give a ****. This pile of crap soundtrack is mostly compiled of bands with the selling capacity of zero. Also like i said, the 80's original was the same sort of idea, pointing in the direction of one small group of listeners. So on a grand scale, it wont sell alot of copies. Most of the people where i live listen to country music( i don't like country music either), so this place won't be buying many copies of that soundtrack. Alot of other places i have lived in the U.S. are sort of the same, so i can't imagine alot of people will care. You seem to be pissed cause i'm indirectly dissing your taste in music, so you are the one who seems to think everyone agrees with your taste. I could'nt give a **** whether anyone agrees with me or not, but i have the right to say what the **** i feel about it.

I want orchestral versions of the opening themes for Season 1,2, and the intro/outro to Season 3.

Not this crap.

But I was surprised the MuteMath version was actually passable.

Everything I hear of thiers is so slow and boring.

This was slow and boring also, but not as much.

Yes, i too, felt it was slow and boring. Very dull in the case that it has to play along side giant robots fighting and blowing things up.

Sorry for the Double, but you guys should take a look at this and tell me this song doesn't fit with the movie scenes in the back ground better than anything on that soundtrack.

It really doesn't fit.

If this movie is to be taken seriously we don't need to be reminding people of cheesy 80's music.

And that boring, shite of a theme song fits? This movie will never be taken seriously anyway, it's about robots from space!! The 80's theme is just musically superior, not to mention, interesting. Look at the clip, it kind of reminds me of Top Gun, the 80's stuff fits perfectly.

I find it so very funny that everyone is complaining about an overly commercial soundtrack to an overly commercial movie. Yes the soundtrack is mainstream rubbish just like the movie itself, is anyone really that surprised?

That list of cohorts for the soundtrack doesn't move me much either, the themes okay I guess. Just alright though, nothing that would get me too excited in the theater like the Spiderman theme did or the Superman one? Its not "Crunk" enough to make you go' YEAH!!! And its not Majestic enough, like Star WArs or Superman to make you go WOWWWWW. Its just like 'ehhh. . .they should've let the Lunatics do it, or Maroon 5, maybe let Linkin Park go back to the drawing board on that one I think? that "rap" was uhhmmm....well you heard it.

New Theme

Postby AlexicusPrime » Sat Jun 09, 2007 5:01 am

You know, I don't even mind that it's overly commercialized, my only problems are that with all of the kinds of bands that are out right now, They could have done alot more with the song, and pay a little homage to Lion, who I think totally rocked the first time around. I kinda wanted them back for this one. But both versions of the song I've heard have been less than entertaining, and just don't really feel like they fit the movie. Yes it's nice that "Autobots are watching over you" and are "Ready to die for what we love" But I'd much prefer to hear that they're waging war against the evil forces like normal. And what's the deal with giving up on rhyming? The "love" is such an unflattering way to end the the chorus, how about "Ready to die for what [is right to do]"?. Don't get me wrong, I used to love a mimic of a Linkin Park song as much as any other angsty 15 year old did, but, this is a little off. I haven't heard other Mutemath stuff so I can't say if I like them or not, but I feel this shouldn't have been the direction to take with the theme. Oh well, what can you do, other than hope for orchestrated versions during the fights. I'm sure Speilberg could pull a few strings and get John Williams.

By the way, sorry I rambled. I never respond and when I do I like to get everything out.
