But like others have said, this has an air of Samurai Jack/Clone Wars to it - and frankly, those are two of the most well written, beautifully animated series ever concieved in the West. I have my fingers crossed that Gendy Tarkovsky is at the helm - everything he touches turns to gold.
Exactly what I was saying.
And I meant every word I said about Anime crap. RID, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron (Galaxy Force) were all crap. crap. I respect your right to disagree, but I have hated every single series and they never tried to reach above a five year old's entertainment level.
So that's why I'm probably more open to this change than many others here. It's shockingly different but if it is the same style as Samurai Jack or Clone Wars we will probably get a more grown up show. I'll take a great story over pretty animatics (which, frankly, the recent shows have not had either of) any day.

I disagree... I think its a shame to have to settle one way or the other.. a good cartoon is whats made of both..to settle for a great story and crappy art is just wrong, IMO!! I mean yeah, Clone wars had a better story then art and was certainly more engaging then the actual live action movie was... but lets face it, after its all over with.. you feel left wanting..not to mention, i refused to even buy the clone wars DVD on the grounds that it sucks animation wise.. and though i watched it the first go round.. i refuse to spend money on a DVD that would gather dust...
this show is an absolute abomination, and should be treated as such.. its toddler-formers, and its not gonna have a great story..go back to page 1, and reread the article.. it clearly indicates that its one mindless show after another with good vs evil.. and no carrying story line.. its gonna be teen titans in metal costumes..the super hero genre works for itself.. and the cross over comics are great, but we all understand that comics and super heroes are not transformers.. and whats being done here is contrary to what should be...
In short, Hasbro and cartoon network are giving us super hero G-1 transformers, and there is nothing we can do to stop it.. those of you who want to wait and are optimistic about this new approach.. I hope your right...but if it does end up sucking ass, then take this as your first notice...
I Told You so!!!!!
I gotta know what counterpunch thinks of this new development..

Quite frankly, I turned those shows on and saw how FUGLY they were and never watched them again. How can you watch something and get into the story when you can't even get past the innitial appearence? I mean seriously, would you ever approach a women you were not attracted to so you could as her out on a date? I mean If it doesn't appeal to your eye at first, how are you supposed to ever get into the deep stuff?
Samurai Jack and Clone Wars were pure garbage. I couldn't sit through five minutes of that ugly pre-school papar miche animation style. And so what if they had great stories. How are you ever supposed to SEE the story if the look doesn't appeal enough to you that you stick around long enough to see the plot?
But I agree with the guy who said at this point after seeing the Bayformers which sucked the life and enthusiasm I had for Transformers these day right out from under me, that I simply just don't care as much. Really, 2 years ago I might have been writing plea letters to Hasbro to change their direction and would have been infuriated about this. But now after all the crap in the last year, I just looked at it and rolled my eyes. I'm begginning to expect nothing but pure garbage from Hasbro and it's all because of the Appologists within this very fandom that talk themselves into being OK with it and feel they need to just accept everything thrown at them because someone Stamps the Transformers name on it.
As for the discussion of children today being dumb of not having attention spans, It's all because of what is being put in front of them. For any of you who have the Season 2 part 1 DVD, watch the bonus interview with Michael McConnohie on the final disk. He makes some VERY good comments about this very subject and how todays animation talks DOWN to its audiencee and how these days studios don't even try to take the effort to put content in their stories.
That's the beauty of G1 and even Beast Wars. It never talked down to it's audiences. They always had some deeper toen in the plot of the story that made a kid want to learn about it. You had religoun and politics and so much more in a kids show. I made you think deeper about what was going on. And I can't tell you how many new words I learned just from watching the Transformers alone.
I agree with everything you said except for the "Bayformers" part. I think the movie is actually what Transformers needs right now. I got people in their 30s, 40s and 50s telling me how they want to see this movie. The hardcore fans really need to get over the differences in design.
I couldn't say it better I really believe the hardcore fans should let it go. Is old.
Oh and by the way I'm a hardcore Transformers Fan.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

This is a good example of reading too much into press-speak. What the flier says is they're doing "26 episodes presented as a standalone storyline" and a 90-minute special. Which is exactly the same structure as G1 season one, but is ten episodes longer. That "standalone storyline" doesn't mean "one mindless show after another." If it refers to story structure at all, it simply means that each episode has a distinct beginning, middle, and end, as opposed to a serial structure, in which most episodes would end in a cliffhanger. You've got to read these things like a press agent, 'cause that's who writes 'em. If they know anything about TF cartoons, or in fact anything on TV, they pretend they don't, because that's the way things are done. I'm surprised they didn't emphasize it's in full color.
In fact I don't think it refers to structure at all. I think it's saying it stands alone in continuity, not continuing the movies, AEC, or G1. Besides, if it is "toddler formers" so what? Nobody's coming to your house and burning your G1 DVDs. You just may have to live without a TF cartoon until something comes along that appeals to you more.

I've been wondering about that as of late as well.

I think some peoples memories just re-write G1 so that it has no animation errors or plot holes, and every episode is full of deep meaning dialogue and mindblowing action scenes. Although looking at this image I am remind of G1 Starscreams line "Floptimus Prime" it's as if they saw the future.
