New Weapons and Alts
- Weapon: Dual Laser Beam Rifle
Ikavadas, your initial post was "Wahh i missed getting my hands on the 3 uber strong weapons in the game, can we tone them down? No wait, why didn't OS do the weapons first instead of alts." So your whole arguement is fueled by your missing out on them.
It simply does not make sense to waste time to build up this version if in 2 or 3 months it's gone. Best to restore a missing feature that went south a few moths back and deal. this is Seib's site, and OS is in charge. Not all of the decisoions are made by them but those that are we have to accept. Why? It's Seib's site. Like what happens or not, you're here because you were allowed to be.
Of course you can voice your displeasure but c'mon. If there were BB's and DOL's waiting in the armoury for you, you'd have bought them and been on your merry way without a peep.

We're questioning people's motives for speaking out now?
Not that i'm suprised. There are some people here who would sit back and praise the powers that be if they replaced all weapons with flowers that did 1% damage each time and tin foil armour.
Some day I hope those people will be capable of independant thought and can actually contribute valuable ideas to the betterment of this game. Instead we have to tolerate their sideline cheerleading.
Stand up for what you believe in lkavadas, even though this is probably a lost battle it's nice to see someone with an opinion of their own.

LOL, obviously I didn't care that much about BBs or Dols if I asked if they were even restocked.
Is it a crappy disadvantage to be at? Yeah, but it's not like anything has changed since before the restock. I had one Dol before the restock and one after. So what has changed?
BBs don't affect me in the slightest. My entire team is level 1.
I guess that nullifies your assertion then, doesn't it?
Fact of the matter is that I don't post very often. In fact, until this thread happened along and the one that got deleted I hadn't made a post in this forum in well over six months. I'm generally a "shut up and play, CMN, L2P" type person but when OS makes a huge announcement about completely revamping and balancing the most hap-hazardly and unfair system in the game I was pretty stoked. It's why I started checking this forum again in the first place.
Then I find out that instead of fixing the most broken aspect of this game and then beta testing and balancing this system so as to make sure it's thoroughly play tested and working before the real version hits this thread comes along and is basically, "Yeah, we scrapped everything because of 2 whiners in chat."
Please, how can you possibly defend this? Because OS is staff now and doing this all in his spare time suddenly earns him a pass from all community judgement? Wasn't like the first thing he said in his intro post about how the community matters?
And look at the first decision this guy makes. Screw community, screw asking, he just lets 1 or 2 whiners dictate the entire development policy of this game. How does that feel?
ROFL, see ya in six months.

You know, what, I've tried to offer some balanced reason, but no one really seems to want to hear it. They are much happier constructing their own realities where they are suffering martyrs being ground under the heel of the system or simply decrying the other side as selfish, bull-headed, obnoxious whiners. Giving the other side the benefit of the doubt or realizing that they don't actually know everything that's going on is an anathema to one group, while...
Ah screw it. If kicking eachother in the balls and spamming the thread with quotes and emoticons is what makes you guys happy and actually lightens things up, roll with it. [that wasn't sarcasm actually]
And,
There's really no good reason I should give a damn anyway, is there? I shouldn't have voiced an opinion one way or another (alt-rotator vs weapons). I tried to think in terms of what was best for the largest number of players, but that was stupid, b/c I shouldn't assume that I know what is best for the largest number of players.
I should have limited my opinion to considerations of my own position as a player who has a lot invested in armor, battleblades, and Dols, who has one alt that I wouldn't give up no matter how much the bot started to suck, who said long ago that the RP aspect was more important than winning (something I forgot in there at some point), and who plans on quitting soon (but probably won't). And since I have no idea what I would/should want based on those factors, I shouldn't have said anything at all.
So, in short, consider this a negation of whatever opinions I may have expressed in regard to this topic earlier, because in spite of what most people believe, you shouldn't have an opinion just to have an opinion. It doesn't make you a 'better' person or a more involved member, it just makes you a person who is crippling the actual problem-solving process by diluting it with meaningless drivel. Sometimes, saying nothing is actually the smart/responsible/right thing to do. Hopefully I'll remember that in the future.

TWO PEOPLE made this decision between them. Whether you support it or against it has seeminly fallen on deaf ears.
But I for one am glad to see you stepping up like you have Caelus. Whether we agree with other or not doesn't matter, the fact you're willing to stand up and actually speak your mind is a welcome change from all the "yes people" that seem to fill this forum.
Now if you need cheering up, kick Lucky in the nuts. A bit of harmless fun helps keep the forums from degenerating into utter anarachy. Plus it's Lucky, everyone wants to kick Lucky!

Sounds like a good title for a sitcom ...

Bad things happen when you speak your mind.
I can see the point if the new version is going to be ready in a few months, why do a small reset now only to do a major one a few weeks later.
However I also think that it is rather foolish to run out a new system and not take advantage of every opportunity to test it.
I'm sure that when the current system was thrown out there it wasn't intended to make a select few weapons uber at the expense of all others.
Currently there is a spectrum of players that would make it so that every weapon placed in the game could be played with or at least the majority.
I think its better to offend some people now then to offend a whole bunch later.
However I still think a idea that bases a weapons power on a bots stats and allows the user to name it is the way to go. No uber weapons then
I also never liked the idea of buying anything. I like the idea of supplies being availible of being won in the missions, and then if the faction has the armor then the bots can upgrade to it.
I'm sure in the series Megatron would be turned away for not having the energon to buy his fusion canon or high end armor.
Another consideration that I think needs to be made is faster exp gains at the lower levels. This game would be alot bigger but to many players lose interest when it takes around a year just to get something that is serviceable.

So in two months, I'm going to lose my precious little gif images? Wow. I don't think so. A few of my precious little gif images are Core, a few Uncommon, and 3 are extremely rare.
So when the big R hits, I think I'll be fine. I'm for the weapons being corrected. But I think that there has to be an better way to code the correction so that people that do SUFFER (as in my case) of having an extremely rare alt can survive the change. That's ALL I was implying.
The bottom line truly lies in the fact that in two months (or whenever it's speculated to drop), just having H-M-Dub V2 - Electric Boogaloo will be more than enough if/when I lose my "precious little gif" images. And again, if you have a problem with a squeaky wheel expressing their concern over the loss of what you've deemed "precious little gifs" then PM, instead of filling this thread with an argument that we've heard before. Learn a new song already.
Word.

Y'know it's not even the gif images I care about. What actually and truly bothers me is that OS's decision was influenced by two people despite any overall community input whatsoever.
As I said before, two people crying in chat had the power to influence the entire development process of this game. Do y'all understand why I keep labeling this as an "irresponsible decision?"
I hope in the future when a change is going to happen the devs are at least honest about letting the community know their opinion doesn't matter.
So yeah, it's pretty lame. At least I know what to expect. And if I ever want to have anything changed I know can just cry my little eyes out in front of OS and probably get my way.
/shrug
Edit: Btw, I was under the impression that when V2 hits everything is being reset. Is this no longer the case?

Prove me wrong and I'll take everything back and apologize. And I'm hardly going to judge your entire character based on one decision, but I am going to be critical as hell about this decision because it was a poor one.
You're only admitted influence on your decision was a few "discussions" and from what I can gather in the thread it appears that Dynamax, QuietStorm, and Caelus were the influence.
Is my deductive reasoning hitting close to the mark? I'd really like to be proven wrong in this case. That people whining in chat can't dictate the direction of HMW's lead programmer but from everything I've gathered in this thread that's the only conclusion I can come to.
Could you shed a little more light on how this happened other than "...a few discussions?" Or is that really all there is? Because if that's it, well, I'm right on the mark in my criticism.

If think that comment makes it readily apparent how little you actually know of what has been going on.
Sure would be nice if the original thread hadn't been removed.

3 people huh? Yeah, your perception of the "discussions" is incorrect. Going into details on any "discussions" with you would be inappropriate as it appears you have no problem calling people out.lkavadas wrote:You're only admitted influence on your decision was a few "discussions" and from what I can gather in the thread it appears that Dynamax, QuietStorm, and Caelus were the influence.

Fortunately myself and Seibs are the ultimate desicion makers and I decided to release the weapons with the new application because it is easier programmatically and it is an easier transition on the users. And yes, I listened to the opinions of SEVERAL users when making that decision. Sue me.
Since I don't owe you an essay on my decision, you can continue to have your opinion of me and I will continue to be amused.

So your response is just that shedding any more light on it is inappropriate? Why? I'm not asking for a transcript. I'd just like to know how many people overall brought this up as a concern?
And during this process why did you preclude any community involvement in making this decision in favor of "discussions behind closed doors?" Of which sharing any details is apparently inappropriate.
Sorry OS, but your post really just confirmed everything I figured.
And attacking me for whining? The only thing I'm bitching about is how little community input went into your decision in this instance which is a very valid complaint. I think I speak for a larger group of people than you suspect when I address my concern on how large segments of your player base are apparently passed up when it comes to game decisions. I think that's unfair. I guess it's the American in me coming out there but I'm not going to let you make me feel ashamed of it.
And calling people out? ROFL, your damn right I'll hold people personally accountable for the decisions they make.

You're so wrong and you don't even know it. It's no secret that OS and I ARE NOT good buddies. And to be quite honest with you, I don't "chat." I can't--the only time I'm online is when I'm at work. And let me make this as clear as day, I'm not even supposed to be at Seibertron.com while I'm at work. So that would make "chatting" an even bigger no-no. And furthermore, I'd have to download MSN, Yahoo! Messenger or any other "chat" apparatus to do so -- which would be a HUGE red flag to the powers that be that I'm "chatting."
So in this case, Columbo -- You're DEAD WRONG. Nice try, but you've failed to solve this case miserably. And I agree with Caelus, this discussion could have gone both directions. But because Omega Sentinel is taking the time to inform the masses that he's having these discussions with players, the S-Tron, with the support staff, etc. he's not going to be able to please EVERYONE all the time.

I think the Larger group of people would rather see it done right. Done Well. And, done with everyone on the same playing field as it will be when all the changes are released with V2. You are whining and making an issue out of something you play for FREE! This is their game and while they do ask for input from the community .... Ultimately it is their choice to do what is right for the future of the game. If they chose to just leave the game the way it is that is their choice and thats the way it would be because for you it's FREE. They ask for the community's input and they recieved it I'm sure on the boards and via PM's and through those discussions made their decisions based on those conversations. So just suck it up. Quit making a big deal out of something that is going to get done, when they implement it, When they feel it's appropriate on a FREE game that is fun to play the way it is.
