I'm sorry that I wanted to keep my precious "little gif image" that I've had since before some of you even started playing. Goodness, Primus forbid that I'd like to keep the same alt mode since I started playing. I was unaware that this was a major crime.

I wasn't the only person against losing our alts before weapons being adjusted. There were others, but I was the most vocal. Squeeky wheel, I guess.

Regardless, lets not continue to derail this thread any longer. If you want to continue popping shots at the individuals that wanted to keep their "little gif images," feel free to pop shots TO ME, via Private Message. I've said that I'll take the responsibility for it, so feel free to PM me and we can discuss there instead of ruining this thread.

That's why I've said there must be an option to post polls, so each player could vote "for" or "against" implementing sush or other idea.

If that'd be present, it'd be a true example of democratic decisions. And if the minority suffered one could always say "well, the majority voted for that option. So, your opinion is noted... but outnumbered."

Until then, all speculations about what people want or don't want would be just speculations. After all, the majority of the players never post anything... They just play. Or not play.

IIRC, a poll was conducted once on the HMW main page, so even nonforum goers would vote. I think it was over whether or not to reset the game... As I recall it produced a lot of bad feelings on the part of the side that lost.

Uhh, who cares about gif images when you're going to lose them anyways? Instead of making the game more enjoyable and balanced for the entire player base we have to sit through Dols and BBs dominating this entire game for another two months because an incredibly small minority of players started crying about gifs.

How about instead of basing decisions on who cries the most in IRC chat or on some messenger or whatever and we put some of this up for a community wide poll? This thread is living proof about how little community input matters with HMW. As I said, this was a poor and irresponsible decision on the part of the staff.

While I agree that it was a "poor" decision, we don't know what OS has had to deal with as far as input towards making it. There is much that goes on with this game that the Forum never sees.

Really, this argument could just as easily go the other way.

I don't think we really have enough information to intelligently support statements like that.

And I also don't understand how the staff can make irresponsible decisions regarding a game that they have no responsibility to anyone to provide.

Weapons

Postby Davidtron » Sun Apr 29, 2007 2:06 am

Aye,
As someone who has only been playing for about a month, im saddened that the battle blades etc all got sold out so quick recently. I had to gamble up 2000 energon to 53000 to purchase one only to find that it would take me another day or two to level up to be eligible to buy. By this stage, I was fortunate enough to purchase just One set and the last too.

I see both sides of this coin, on one side an autobot with fairness in ones heart wouldn't hoard, but on the other side, we are participating in a WAR, so all bets are off.

I'm easy.

Nah, you obviously ARE new to this game, cuase in the HMWverse the autobots are the meniacle evil race bent on universal domination and iolling to do anything to win, where as the cons actully play fairer and have a better comunity spirit!

:P

And on a more serious note, lkavadas, much like our dear friend lucky, I dont see you doing very much for the game, so please lets not start insulting those who DO do something for the game other than whing.

Those are some good gambling skills.
On another note, I don't get the fuss over BB,
Twin swords are almost just as good and have NO recharge.
I just need more XP to equip them now.
It's really too bad there is no block or counter avail
as a side action. The equiping of melee weapons should unlock these features in the next version, but only if faced with
opponent of similar weaponry as blocking a rocket with swords
would just look stupid.

lets look at the stats shall we

Battle blades
raw Damage range; 21 to >25
recharge; 12 seconds
min xp cost; 19k
energon cost; 53k

Twin Swords
raw damage range; 11 to 25
recharge; 1 second
min xp cost 75k
energon cost; 12k

on raw damage the Battleblades win hands down, being incredibnle means that it's not limit to silly little ranges the rest of the damage terms have, on recharge while the swords are faster, the blades are fast enough that unless you have a serious courage or speed advantage, you won't see a difference(ie, if your attack rate is lower than your recharge rate any weapon will act as No recharge). xp cost is where the blades serioisly trout the TS, the reqiured 6 FP is a big stat investment, only strafer realistically need that much of that stat, and even then that would be after maxing out theire strafe. as for energon, yes the TS is cheaper, but 40K is nothing i could make that in 10 days at level 3.

I've certainly weighed all those figures before as I was testing both swords out previously.
I just realize that if BB are not avail, there are options.
The 6 points in skill was high, and the reason I don't use them
as I don't have any lvl 3 or higher and don't have the points to allocate to make it beneficial for either as a weapon.
I would rather sink my points into speed, for me personally
I have found this the most helpful beginner stat and upwards.

Does skill do anything other than unlock some weapons and allow
certain tactics? It really seems like a useless stat that the other stats could be used to do the same thing skill does.
FP for all weapons and intel for tactics. The higher the intel the more tactics you could learn. What you learn in which order
could be determined by your alt mode.

i'm not going to risk anyone saying the blades aren't broken. and as an alternative to the blades the TS pales in comparison to the EXB.

it is pretty much useless, though having 3 stats for non tactic offense, and 3 for defense does make blancing weapons (and unarmed) alot easier.

i do like that intel would unlock tactics(as it does already), i'm agisnt fp for all weapons as it would take away from skill, and a sword doesn't really have any FP, but having FP affect all weapons does make balancing easier(IMO)

if we ever get any non-combat activities Skill will really be the stat to have, especially for making weapons or armour

What's the recharge like on the crossbow?
I like consistent damage and don't like the waiting for a
high damage hit.

I think we all need an official 'Unofficial Weapons and Armor Guide'. That would help people out in deciding what to buy and when it would be most useful in the stages of their combatants.

thanks to Bun-Bun, Triggerhappy, Spidey, Soundwave, THunderscream, Psychout, and a lot of others an unoffical weapons guide does exist(you just have to know where it is? Decipher Something Anyway).

as for armour, that's a closed book, and alot harder to work out as you can only see what your bots are wearing not others.

I've heard rumors of this. As my Con's don't always perform as well as I would like I stay away from the groups that have compiled this info. There is an honor that goes with them and I would hate to tarnish that. Don't slagged Autobots realize dying's dignified.

I haven't personally insulted anyone in this thread. I just criticized the decision made by OS which was based off, it appears, at best 2 or 3 people complaining about losing their precious gif images (which they'll lose in two months anyways) over going with the greater good and giving us a balanced armory, which is something that has been brought up in this forum multiple times a week for as long as I've played and is also something that everyone would benefit from as it needs some good beta testing before it should be pushed live.

And since I'm not a HMW programmer I don't have the right, or privilege, to criticize poor decisions when I see them? I'm glad you didn't write the constitution.

Anyways, I do know a little something about community input. I'm currently a dev on the Star Wars Galaxies EMU project as well as the SpraticNet eXile EMU Server host dev team. When we run across an important issue we have entire forum called "Community Polls" which get posted after we've thoroughly discussed a topic in the "In Concept" forum.

We don't just post an announcement that says, "So yeah, like we had a few conversations on IRC with 1 or 2 people and instead of allowing you to choose what is most important with your game we just decided to scrap the previous plan and cater to these 1 or 2 people. So deal with it. kbyez."

If we pulled some stunt like that how many people do you think would decide to stick around? Not many. They'd run off to True Galaxies or Galaxies Reborn.

While your right about not singling anyone out other than the staff, your ways of putting forth your dislike of that has happend sounds really childish. The Alts are beging done, as they were part of the current running system. The new weapons are not and that was part of the idea on waiting.
