I have to say I was really disappointed,

Things I loved…

Optimus Prime absolutely kicked arse, he was fu**en awesome It’s the way he should be. One of the few problems I had with Aminated was the way Optimus was portrayed. blowing Demolishers head off at the start was amazing.

I didn’t think I would like Mudflap and Skids but they were really good.

The opening scene in Shangai was excellent and the Optimus, Megatron, Starscream and Grindor fight was great.

Things I hated…

Like others have mentioned Devastator was useless, he doesn’t fight anyone just climbs up a pyramid and sucks up a bit of sand and what I would call the real Constructicons don’t even combind into him,

How quick the fight with the Fallen happened.

How little Ironhide, Ratchet Jetfire and Soundwave did in the movie.

The waste of time that was the college scenes and Alice, good idea but she did and explained nothing.

The things that pissed me off were…

How much Michael Bay bosted about how many transformers were in the movie when most of them were just in the background or reused from the first movie.

Devistator having balls, Bumblebee crying, Jetfire farting, Michael Bay.

All the actual Military shots on them jumping into action, waste of time just so Bay can get a hard on.

There are a lot of posts here and we are saying the same things so I won't go into reading it all.

Biggest peeves

- Optimus being He Man now and killing multiple decepticons solo and then being a vicious executioner.
- Whore girl at college who turned into a decepticon. really? alt mode as a perfectly disguised human? how convenient MB
- Fallen was a punk who got man handled by super optimus.
- the whole Starwars Emperor/Darth dynamic between Fallen/Megs
- Transformers being killed instantly, or just plain cannon fodder space decepticons with no names or alt modes. yay
- how is the US army so strong now that they can kill bots in a few shots, but took them 30 mins to barely take down brawl with BB's help?

and that won't touch on the huge plot holes, silly Autobot dreams, and devastator getting 1 shot in anti climatic fashion. ugh

Well. I got what I paid for. A bunch of giant metal robots whaling on each other and a metric crapton of explosions. It had flaws, but on the whole I liked it. Excellent summer blockbuster fodder for a fresh winter night.

For those of you bitching on how Devastator got taken down so easily, why don't take a look at the railgun. It is quite a powerful weapon.

A railgun can also only travel in a straight line. Plus its doubtful they have them on many ships (if even at all). And is very convenient that the pyramids at Giza are a perfectly unobstructed firing line to wherever that ship was.

edit: okay I read up a little more. I still question the firing requirements in terms of stuff in the way. With a projectile going multiple times the speed of sound its not like its going to take an arcing path at the target. It was just another handy way to tie up a plot part, why couldn't some massive autobot effort take down Devastator, like the old days. Where are the dinobots when you need them!? :)

Laws of gravity and friction don't apply to railguns? :P Of course it will take and arcing path, it will just be a longer drawn out one. In the movie its a classified weapon and it actually really isnt out yet so in the movie they are kinda free on how its used.

I agree, I would have liked to see and all out Autobot assault on Devastator to bring it down, but I can live with what was used. Plus it didn't look like it outright killed him, just broke him apart. Even G1 Devastator was easy to break apart.

Look, this movie rocked hard, and I have a hard time understanding people who claim it was either a steaming pile of bay turds, or otherwise nitpick minor elements in that way only internet fanboys can, then reduce the ENTIRE movie experience to, "inconsistent, and crude. Can you believe a robot said, 'pussy'? For shame, michael bay, for shame..."

If you are an old school G1 fan, then this will put a huge smile on your face.

There are some minor points I could go after, but overall, the effort is supreme. Little changes keep it fresh.

My boy and I went last night after some Texas de Brazil, and it was one of the best birthdays I've ever had.

I cringed at first when someone compared the twins to jar jar binks - I can see how they're not for everybody, but that's an undeserved comparison: NOTHING is worse then jar jar binks.

Plus has anyone watched the G1 cartoons recently? All the elements are there: wisecracks, cooperation with the military, I could go on. It was a pretty juvenile cartoon, and we were in a juvenile mindset when we watched them. The awesomeness and crude humor in the film reminds me of the fun of fart jokes in a tree house sleepover with all our transformers. I'm not looking for epic, Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter **** out of this franchise. If you want that out of transformers, go get an Aragorn action figure instead.

i absolutely loved the movie, even though i agree with all the flaws everyone has mentioned here. i believe MB made this movie intended for a bigger crowd, not just for g1 fans, or transformer fans in general. it was meant for EVERYONE. i mean, my friends, with NO knowledge of transformers loved the movie, because it was funny, action packed, and lots of intense cgi. they dont have anything to compare it with, which doesnt keep their hopes up in hoping the movie is related to the original in any way. i think MB did the movie well in making it different and not to be compared to the original storyline. you just have the view the movie in a different level, and put G1 and the original trnasformers world aside, and watch the movie as one of its own universe.

Weapon: Twin Sonic Cannons
I enjoyed it as I got precisely what I expected: a bunch of fight scenes with a little plot to connect said scenes. I saw it in IMAX and it was worth every penny. Here are some thoughts in no particular order.

Devastator was fun to see on the big screen. It's a shame that he didn't eat any Autobots :(

The Singapore fight scene was by far the best done IMO. Prime leaping from a plane: awesome.

Jolt served no purpose in the movie, except one scene which could've been filled by Ratchet. For that I am sad. I wanted to see some wholesale whipping.

I could've done without seeing Simmons' ass in IMAX HiDef thank you very much.

I wanted to punch Leo in the face. I wasn't the only one who applauded him getting tasered.

It seems that every TF got 3 minutes to shine, and then sidelined. It annoyed me that we didn't see more of Sideswipe, Arcee, Jolt and Ratchet.

Prime died, then was reborn. I think even without being alive for a half hour he has the highest body count of the show, not counting those that fell from the sky and landed on the Aircraft carrier.

Sam's mom on weed was oddly hilarious.

During some random point in the credits, many people applauded. There must've been an extra in the crowd or something.

Devastator's balls. People were laughing at them or yelling "oh come on!" at the screen. I was wondering is Hasbro would make a wrecking ball constructicon. That would rule.

Sure Alice was a robot. I think she was hotter than Mikela. I'd've done her.

That's it for now. I had good fun

spacebridge wrote:I can't believe that anyone who thinks this movie was good is a legitimate G1 fan. That aside, when I see comments like "this is my favorite movie ever", it just boggles the mind. In all seriousness, this is one of the worst movies ever made. Just like the first one (which I actually bought just to show off the capabilities of my blu-ray player and LCD TV), the acting is downright WRETCHED, the character models are way too over-articulated to the point where you can't tell who the hell is who (PS michael bay; super articulation does not automatically equal good character), and the story is just a complete and total flop with so many discontinuities, plot holes, unexplained things, and just sheer lack of creativity in so many scenes ("hey Prime got the matrix" <TELEPORT IN USING MYSTICAL TELEPORT POWER> "I'll take that bye --> this scene, among dozens of others had me wondering "WTF just happened?"

So far, those complaints can be applied to both michael bay movies. Let's expand on the atrocious nature of this film in particular:

WARNING - BIG SPOILERS AHEAD

1) The witwicky characters are all just horrible and I didn't think they could get any worse, but this movie somehow managed. The mom - are you kidding me? If anyone on earth thinks anything about her was funny in the slightest, you need your head checked out. Appalling. The dad, meh, whatever, pointless. Megan Fox is also incredibly pointless. "Oh man she's so hot"; sorry, but that's where it ends. Her off-screen personality is really what makes me disappointed that she's even attached to the Transformer franchise. "Oh Transformers are awesome, I'm in the new movie, I love transformers." People like her who wear the transformers franchise tag remind me of the same people that think the best Final Fantasy game ever was FF7. How bad is it when Sam, who is just so bad, actually comes off as the one semi-decent character in this film? And his Mexican roommate - all I've got to say is someone involved with the movie obviously had to get their kid in it somehow. This guy makes Jar Jar look like Boba Fett.

2) The Fallen - the entire concept had fail written all over it. First off, if you're going to build off an old idea, go back a little further than something that originated out of the Dreamwave era, much less something that comes out of a spin-off comic book where Grimlock is a tank (War Within, if I recall correctly). I mean fine, originally an interesting concept, but hardly a character so awesome you make a movie about it. Secondly, if you're going to make Megatron COMPLETELY UNCHARACTERISTICALLY SUBSERVIENT to someone (which is like the most rookie thing you could ever do to Meagtron), at least make the character look intimidating! Unicron was intimidating. The Fallen looked like a complete joke; why mighty Megatron exhibited Soundwave-quality loyalty to an average-sized anorexic transformer that looked like he could transform into a rake is beyond me. And by the way, when Megatron flew from the ocean and ended up on Saturn or wherever the hell it was in two seconds, I thought he flew into the movie "Aliens". I know these are supposed to be "alien" robots, but I think bay is closer to the Alien movies than he is to the Transformers franchise.

3) Prime saying "got any last words" and then blasting a helpless transformer in the face. Yeah, that's the heroic Prime I grew up with. I had to laugh at this part thinking to myself, "I seriously wonder if whoever wrote this has ever even seen an episode of transformers." Again, way to completely undo a character trait that has been prevalent for the last quarter century.

4) The twins. Man, I don't even need to expand on this because it's obvious, but all I'll say is to the few people trying to say they liked them, oh please, stop kidding yourselves. A transformer calling a human a pussy... who the hell left that in? And I thought Jazz died in the last one, but apparently his personality chip is inserted in every new transformer. You know, I talk to people about this sort of thing so often - when I have a kid, I'm not going to let him/her watch any cartoons except all the 80's stuff like transformers, g.i. joe, voltron, he-man, ninja turtles, smurfs, care bears, etc. You know why? Because every modern day cartoon/movie is plagued with "Yo dog, chiggity out my ipod, word up, yo true dat, pimp dat yo" ghetto-esque nonsense. The twins in this movie were a prime example of that crap. Seriously, go watch a couple of newer cartoons or movies then compare it to something like the 80s transformer movie - the old stuff has a sort of "classiness" and sophistication to it that has been snuffed out by this modern day "style over substance" garbage.

5) OK so you finally got Frank Welker in this one... and you STILL MANAGE TO SCREW IT UP!!! For the love of God, why the hell could you just not let him do the ORIGINAL SOUNDWAVE VOICE!!?? Instead, you have him do the unsynthesized version, which is basically just Doctor Claw. So bravo michael bay for once again managing to evoke classic nostalgia - unfortunately I didn't come to see a transformers movie to remember the good ole days of Inspector Gadget.

6) "Alice". Ok, yeah he even managed to throw the Pretenders in there - but who are we kidding, there's a reason the Pretenders were the beginning of the end of the original toy franchise - it's because the Pretenders sucked. That aside, they especially suck when all you do is rip off the movie "Species" [Anyone ever get the idea that bay has no originality whatsoever?]

7) Constructicons. Admittedly, one of the things that actually got me excited about the film. And what an incredibly botched concept that turned out to be. One of the best things about the G1 constructicons was that they had outstanding personality - all of them and even Devastator himself. To be honest, I didn't understand what the hell was going on with these things at all, especially when they were in Devastator form yet somehow fighting elsewhere in individual robot mode (and not just later on, I'm talking back to back scenes). One of the few things that I thought was cheap about the original cartoon were the hordes of Insecticon clones or Scourge clones (or Seacon clones if you ever watched Masterforce)- always thought it was the ultimate lazy way to be able to let characters get killed without actually losing any characters. It's extremely disappointing to see that the movie did this with not only the Constructicons, but also with the Decepticons in general. Now there are just tons of them that get squashed at every interval - even the first movie avoided that cheapness. And the Devastator components not even having their own individual robot modes? What the hell, that was never even a concept with transformers. In fact, that was Voltron! Overall, Devastator looked like a completely incapable ignoramus, and I began to question his awesomeness the second I saw him getting beat up by "the twins" (a battle that seemed to have a scene missing or something, since one second it's making it look like the twins are going to do something big, then the next clip they're gone and Devastator is awkwardly climbing a pyramid king kong style). And let's not forget "oh look where the balls are placed, scrotum, oh I get it haw haw haw! Also, I was excited to hear Welker "voiced" Devastator, until I realized that meant nothing more than doing the grunting noises that weren't even discernible among the consistent sound of grinding metal.

8) How do we destroy Devastator? Oh yeah, insert ultra magical mystical top secret "Rail Gun". Yeah, it doesn't have to be Shakespeare, we're just here to sell toys anyways. Seriously, these have to be the worst writers of all time. What is it that qualified these goons to write for this movie over any average transformer fan that would NO DOUBT do a better job? And transformers franchise aside, how about movie script writing in general? Here's the mindset this entire endeavor has been plagued with: "don't worry about super crap story, audience pay attention to big shiny robot."

9) All of a sudden humans own Decepticons with M16s. And I'm talking, own them perhaps more so than even the Autobots do. In fact, I'm now wondering why the humans even felt the need to keep the Autobots on earth. I mean, when Soundwave enhanced the antennae (PS: I only found out it was Soundwave after reading these forums - when I saw it in the theater, I thought it was Megatron because you can't tell any of these damn things apart) and The Fallen announced to the world that if they didn't turn over Sam the Decepticons would conquer earth, the response from the people of earth should have been resounding laughter. I mean, all it takes is a small army unit that can go head to head with the entire Decepticon army, much less a gun that can destroy Devastator in a single shot.

10) The matrix, something that I always thought was pretty cool, was turned into something utterly pathetic. I've come to realize that when you hear about something that was once cool making it into this movie series, you should actually be worried about how bad it will be ruined.

11) Okay, Wheelie. Yes, it's oh so important for Wheelie to be put in the movie, and ironically enough he was one of the things in the movie that was actually not too terrible. When I was trying to figure out who the hell this transformer was supposed to be, the voice almost made me think it was Rumble, even though it was a little too mafioso. But in all honesty, if it were Rumble, it would almost cause you to think "oh man, they actually kind of almost got this one right a little", but of course not. Me Wheelie say terrible michael bay. But this made me think a little about the voice casting in general. If some transformers can talk like this, or the twins, or whatever, what was the big problem not letting Welker do Megatron, or even letting Welker do Soundwave's voice properly? It seems like we're anal retentive voice casters on one side of the coin, and on the other side it's like, "oh just do whatever, who gives a ****."

12) Speaking of voices, I don't understand the Bumblebee thing. Didn't his voice get fixed at the end of the last movie? Yet all of a sudden he has to communicate through the radio again? Was that such an awesome concept to whoever that they thought to themselves, "oh man, we should never have given him his voice back, this is cool and we're onto something. Ah screw it, we'll just carry on and hopefully people won't remember or care." And i can't exactly remember what it's from, but this "speak through radio clips" thing has already been done. Maybe I'm thinking of Wreck-Gar? Anyways, it's not original, but at this point what do you expect. Also, referring to Bumblebee as "B"... incredibly annoying, especially when it's said over 100 times in a one minute scene. "We really want the audience to know that it's okay to call him "B"." Thanks, got it.

13) Quick, we've already butchered combiners, pretenders, threw a half-baked version of jetfire in there that doesn't make any sense, what else can we half-ass real quick to sell an extra toy? I know! How about Powermaster Optimus Prime! ugggh...

14) And finally, the one aspect of the movie that I actually really liked. I thought Ravage was great. He moved like he used to, he crept around like he used to, he had his guns in the right spot. Hell, he even ejected from Soundwave! Too bad Bumblebee kills him with like zero effort, and just on the side while he's busy fighting someone else. And the whole time I was looking forward to Soundwave getting in the fray a bit more, but I'm not sure if he died or what.

That's it. I know there are countless other things I'm leaving out, but I'm too tired to think at this point and quite honestly I just want to forget I even paid to see this monstrosity. In fact, I feel like watching the cartoon movie or some old episodes or something just to get this bad taste out of my mouth. In fact, this is the first time I have posted here or even read through these forums and I just had to vent some of my frustrations at the ruining of this once fantastic franchise. I saw way too many adorning responses on here and felt the need to vocalize what I thought would be the obvious dissent that I can only hope a lot of other old school transformer fans were experiencing. Just because something has the label "Transformers" on it does not automatically make it worthy of praise, and the more undeserved adulation is conveyed, the longer we're going to be stuck with garbage. Michael Bay is the single worst thing that has ever happened to the transformers franchise and I can only pray that the rumors about him not wanting to work on another one are true. If there is a third one, hopefully it's from someone with a lot more creativity and appreciation for nostalgic justice. And hopefully they can get a real writer like David Wise or Flint Dille and properly reboot this thing from scratch.

Just one final thing. I see many of you saying "oh it's not for die hard Transformers fans, if you're a Transformers fan you're going to be disappointed, otherwise it's great." Well my question is to those people saying that, if you're not a fan of transformers to an elevated extent, why would you even be on this site? You know, I like cupcakes just as much as the next guy, but I'm not about to create an account on the Betty Crocker website and start blogging about them.

This guy is just so right, READ IT!!!! please, stop saying it's the coolest movie you've ever see...Revenge of the fallen is like Batman & Robin...GARBAGE. Should have been treated like The Dark Knight. =;

I saw ROTF last night, and I have to say, it was the most f*****n awesome movie i've ever seen!

I thought it was a little confusing and weird in the beginning, because Megatron somehow ended up on Cybertron, and Cybertron was next to Saturn. :-?

There was a little too much confusion. The fight scenes should have been in slow motion.

Other than that, it was really, really, really good!

Seconded. Don't tell me what I am and what I am not. I can enjoy this movie and still be a G1 fan. For the FINAL time THIS IS NOT G1!! It was NEVER meant to be G1. It's something completely and utterly DIFFERENT than G1! If you think this is G1, you need Risperdal! Good god! I mean, seriously! How can you even RELATE this to G1? You can't! It's two different things, like comparing apples and tree frogs! You can't compare a $200 million special effects extravaganza to a cartoon that was probably made for $500 an episode based on a line of toys that had no knees or elbows made 25 years ago!

Man, I haven't been this annoyed since Jar Jar Binks...
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Some of the things/scenes I liked:
1. Ravage and his assault on the facility where the all spark piece was stored. Those machine guns he has are awesome.

2. Jetfire flying into the battle and saying "Gotta stick the landing" and then eating it.

3. The decepticon hood ornament. I think it was on MixMaster.

4. The story line of the ancient sun converting machine being hidden in the pyramid.

Some things/scenes I didn't like:
1. Wheelie humping Mikaela's leg. She is hot but come on.

2. John Turturro on the pyramid saying "I'm directly under the robot's scrotum.

3. The intimate moments between Sam and Mikaela. They felt forced and awkward.

4. The twins voices and personalities. Like someone else mentioned, it annoyed me like Jar Jar Binks.

I CONCUR... WELL PUT FOR SURE... LIKE I SAID IN AN EARLIER POST... IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT WATCH IT... IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER, CALL THE STUDIO...IM SURE THEYD TAKE YOUR CALL AND SUGGESTIONS.

One quick question; Is this movie pretty epic compared to the first movie? It looks like it would be.

No. It stunk.

Who is this 'spacebridge' person?

Is he someone I should know or care about? Has he contributed anything to the fandom other than his opinion?

I loved the action in this movie!

Postby Delta82 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:10 pm

Alright, don't get me wrong, the first movie had some great action. But, it took longer for it too unfold because of the plot they were trying to develop. In this movie, every 5 seconds it seemed liked someone was getting blasted. Im a big SideSwipe fan, and the beggining were he jsut dominates practically made me cry lol. Also, the ending of the movie was AMAZING. With Bumblebee trucking Decepticons, the twins fighting Devastator, the Autobots fighting alongside NEST, and THE MARINES(YESSSSSS). That final battle was extremely well made in my opinion. The only thing about this movie that dissappointed me was the fact that you barely saw msot of the autobots. This film seemed more about Prime and Bumblebee than anyone else. I mean, you don't see Ratchet until way later. Jolt makes like 2 appearances, Arcee got hardly any screen time, and SideSwipe got 1 bad-ass scene and then wasnt really shown again until the end. Also, even Ironhide hardly talked this movie.

OK guys, I agree, that was a great COMEDY :APPLAUSE:
The best COMEDY i've ever seen, huh?
=; yep, talk to the hand, where are the real fans, and i'm not talking about the G1 thing exclusively...this is so strange...Is this what you really expected from a Transformers movie? Tasteless

...The first one was ok imo.

I saw ROTF last night and my first impression: Great movie, but...
-Why not using the name Galvatron after his comeback?
-Why on earth put two f@#% dogs in the scene TWICE! rather saw something more from fightingsscenes
-Did I saw this correct? In the end OP was standing on the far front of that ship and it didn't went down a bid more in the water? How much weight can that ship has?

And the last question is Why using so many silver colored Transformers, I really start to mis the colorfull bodies.

I'm still happy I saw the film and when he comes out on DVD with Christmas I'm going to buy it.

I liked and didn't. Some spoilers (..ah if you read this far into the topic, you already know or seen the movie...?)

I love the action, the special effects, but I knew It wasn't going to be G1, but I couldn't help that Bay or Hollywood ruined G1 for me a bit in the live movies. ( Well so did other cartoons...anyway...)

Still good movie, I was laughing, and confused most of the time. Partially because I didn't recognized the new characters. Jetfire, an old fart war hero....ehh, didn't sit well with me, Kup would have been a better fit maybe? I don't know.

You can see Bay had a lot of influence from Alien, Terminator and Star Wars- the force stuff. Too bad, he was never a real fan of Transformers, but before you throw rocks at me, he did a great job with the movies.

Soundwave voice was down cool, but he was acting like Soundwave - the slimy creepy thing from space who pooped out kitties with teeth. Sounds familiar somehow from another movie or book, I can't put my finger on. Poor Soundwave is was almost kick ass. Within his sexy character but so way off.

Hot human sexy robots, Sarah Connor, is rolling in her grave.

Devastator, was disappointing.

I didn't like the Space Bridge power for JetFire or "the Force" power on the Fallen, it looked cool, but it didn't fit. Just me though.

And Megatron, always didn't belong to anyone or took orders from no one. That was really odd to see Megatron call someone else Master, unless he's Galvatron in the 80's movie. It was all really strange to me.

Starscream was ok, liked the voice, but too much focus on him being a sissy, he was, but a kick-ass sissy, so it felt something was missing. Well poor movie Starscream was all wrong from the start.

Sam, Spike, whatever, WTF, I thought he was going to be a leader of the autobots for a moment there, back paddle on that....still , ya no.

Optimus being stabbed with the matrix, so off and weird. Flying with wings that just fell off...too odd.

Eh, well Sometimes I wish they would leave G1 alone, and make an extension of it instead, like Beast Wars. But what'ca gonna do.

I enjoy the movie with bitter sweetness, but it was fun to watch. This movie was all wrong for the right reasons.

P.S I loved the twins!

Funny, but nobody wrote the word comedy between your two posts. Seriously though, who knew what you were talking about since you simply quoted a wall of text and said the movie was garbage. That was real insightful and allowed for meaningful discussion of what you felt of the movie.
