The fan modes are looking pretty good as well. Think I'm liking Peaugh's base mode best if only because it uses all the pieces.

OK, I take it back; Warden actually looks pretty good on top of G1 Fortress Maximus. I think it's the lack of stickers that has swayed my opinion, not enough to convince me get one, but enough for me concede that those like Rodimus Prime may not be quite so insane. (I jest, of course.

The reason I like the head mode so much is because it's finally in proportion with the body and the shoulders. The original Cerebros head is smaller and looks like it's sunk into the shoulders. When I get Warden, Cerebros will become part of the right chest, as he is in Max's base mode.

I received my Warden today, and...well, I had to change my shorts after I took it out of the box. This thing is just what the company name says. Perfect. Of course, I transformed it to Commander Mode, and the transformation was complex but not a pain in the ass. And I love the fact that the little guy fits inside the head. A true commander indeed. In hand, it looks pretty damn good on Fort Max's shoulders. The robot mode was very solid and detailed, and the diecast just made it feel even better. I am very pleased with this figure, I won't even bother transforming it into its vehicle mode, the robot and head modes are more than satisfactory. Truly a figure worth every penny. Hell, I seriously might buy a 2nd figure just for the robot mode. Too bad I have to leave all the extra parts (tracks, gun, etc.) in the box.

Why do you have to do that?
There is a place for everything!
If it is on Fort Max, that stuff stores on the back.
If you don't like that gear in robot mode, all those parts can form a cool tank, all by themselves! That's what mine is doing.
Yesterday, he was in full tank mode, today he is a noggin, and the stuff is in small tank mode sitting upon the base. Tomorrow I'll put him in one of the other crazy fan modes, and when I finish with all of them I'll start making up my own modes.
This guy is crazy amounts of fun!

I already have a gun and a Grand Sword to fill Max's hands, so he can't hold the gun. The tracks I guess I could hang on the back, but he's displayed with his back to the wall, so they wouldn't be seen. Might as well leave it in the box. The rest of the stuff I just can't do anything with unless I have Warden in robot mode. Or can the cannon and the tracks by themselves form a tank? I thought Warden was needed for that.

The treads, extra missile pods, & chest armor piece can create a smaller "scout tank" that the headmaster can pilot.

Everything about him speaks AWESOME! I just picked him up and the early reviews ARE spot on! A pardon the pun, Perfect toy
Right amount of plastic and die-cast and functionality. price is worth the entrance!
Update! (02/26/2014)
My take since I received mine
This release IS Awesome!
Masterpiece class Cerebros if there ever was ONE! Even included a display stand.
Anything to knit pick? Joke but he's got Galvatron's "Knee Pads of Doom" lol!
Tank mode? Who cares? Everyone got it for the "Commander mode" But really, given the limitation of the source the figure inspired, I don't blame it. Btw, the tractor threads are functional.
He's got a BFG! 'nuff said (it can be readjusted to have a stabilizer/support accessory)
You can add additional shoulder battle armor (reminds me of the ones used by riot police (being a "Warden")
Missile pods galore!
The "Master" component is integrated into the transformation (he sits in a cockpit inside the head....kind of like a mobile/transformable brain)
The "Master" figure has light piping.....really........light piped optics. And a very intelligent compact transformation that puts the recent "Centurion" not Fortress figure (see reference pic) http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu ... egory=8065 to shame. Not only was that effort overpriced......it was verrrrrrry loose.
I've always wondered why "Fortress" was rendered in a boxed head style without any side antennas when in his default Master mode in the anime unlike Hardhead. He's sort of like a mini me of the Super mode head. PE did it right.
Hard to transform? Well FP not Motormaster is also hard to transform.
Worth every penny.

I just remember G1 Fort Max's alt modes are both... him lying down, basically.
One with legs extended and one with legs tucked in. I know it's not quite like that, but generally speaking that's the gist.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

Getting into the fan modes is actually pretty easy. Most are just a step or two away from one of the official transforms. The plane mode, for example, is most of the way to head mode, but don't finish the legs.
If you do the official modes, you will probably trip over decent fan mode ideas. He really has a lot of options since he folds up into, basically, a couple different rectangles.

Honestly, I don't really hunt anymore either. I hit TRU and target once a week because they are on my way home. I just scan the aisles and head out. Quick surgical strikes, and I usually don't get anything! If I really care about something I preorder it. Most of my purchases are not in store items anyway because they are either 3P or Japanese imports.
It's funny how collecting habits evolve.

I kind of agree with you on a certain point (surprised
) Being that I'm used to his G1 Cerebros mode over the IDW incarnation and personality change ( from pacifist to hard as nails jail warden). He sure is not the Fort max we know.
But comparing the Headrobots Centurion to him...........well, the former can't hold a candle to Warden.
Centurion is simply sooooooooooo loose. Great effort by Headrobots but PE wins this hands down (and I'm just talking about the head "head" and not the Fortmax head)
The glowing reviews of him are spot on accurate.
