My complaint is the argument that "these have been exclusive long enough, now it won't affect those original releases." That argument makes zero sense.

I believe that if you want to be a Transformers fan now that you must be given a dictionary with the word exclusive highlighted.

Yeah, and when I rule the world, people will be forced to use words properly. Until then, Hasbro get to decide what happens with Transformers. Doesn't matter if it makes sense to you. They don't care. If they've looked at sales figures for Seeker repaints and realised there's a shitload of money to be made, you betcha ass they'll chuck the dictionary page with "exclusive" in the bin and risk pissing off the BotCon crowd.

I would be pissed since I paid $75 for Henkei Thundercracker. I would like them to release Thrust, and Dirge not to mention Sunstorm.

You are completely missing my point man. I don't care if they can or can't release them. I'm just stating that the argument that they've been out long enough doesn't make sense. Nothing to do with the toys, just that argument.

Having it both ways are we?

IMO Hasbro won't release the coneheads in the classics seekers mold.I could be wrong but I don't think I am.Takara on the other hand..........and you can bet it will have enough chrome on it to differentiate them drastically from the bot-con set. :D

I understand your point. It just doesn't matter. All those of us who worship at the altar of Hasbro are bound by their rulings. Little things like "logic" and "what words actually mean" are put aside, like in all other religions.

My time of buying video games has taught me that buying entertainment merchandise with the expectation of value either remaining or increasing is laughable. The Gamecube collection, which cost me about $100, is now worth maybe $40 if I want to sell it off. XBox? HA! Maybe $50 with all the games and DVD remote.

I certainly never got mad when a $50 video game I bought would get put out as a $20 "greatest hits" copy 3 months later. Those that did, well... they should have known it would happen. And I have seen people get mad because games got cheaper releases months later.

And from what I recall through fandom research and seeing toys at Target, wasn't one of the movie scout redecos rather similar to one of the Botcon versions of the same toy? Not identical, but very close. There's precedence for Hasbro to do that again.

I am fairly certain that most children, save the ones that have parents that are fans, have no idea who the remaining seekers are, and therefore do not care.

My brother is four years younger than I am (I'm 30) and he doesn't know who the other seekers are, so I know.
I was being sarcastic. When the idea of the other Classics Seekers was brought up right after the Botcon ones were announced, people said that kids and their parents wouldn't know the dfference between the six of them, so Hasbro would have lost money by releasing them at retail. Then, last year, Target had the G1 movie exclusve repaints like Jazz, and when they sold out people bitched that the kids were being cheated out of their toys, when it is reasonable apparent that that kind of thing is focused at collectors. If kids don't know the other seekers, how would they know what G1 Jazz looked like? So yeah, sarcasm.

I think paying $50-$100 for a $10 toy is ridiculous anyway. I also refuse to buy from the club, simply because they charge more for the... experience? Privelege? They charge more because they feel like it.

Oh geez, here it comes again. How many locked threads and booted members do we need?

Paging Sylus...

Okay, getting serious, if you haven't heard it before, the reason why all these seekers weren't released the first time is because Hasbro never intended to continue the Classics?Universe line. The whole line was designed as a filler between Cybertron and the movie.

FunPub and the Botcon people did us what they thought was a favor when they did that set, and gave us the chance to fill in the seekers.

That's why Hasbro shold never release those figs now, although if the rest are done in Henkei, no big deal to me.

Although I'm still most in favor of ultra or voyager updates instead.

Um, Delicon? Fascinating though it was to hear AGAIN why the three BotCon seekers got released there, it has bugger all to do with what we're talking about. Just FYI.

It is relevant if you look at the first post (and some others on recent threads)

A $10 toy...how dare they make these seekers anything other than $10 toys?

You have to look at what so many people are thinking. They think Hasbro is screwing us by not putting all thes seekers out for $10 each and that FunPub was somehow evil for putting out that seeker set.

And that's simply WRONG.

Ok, I'll try and bring you up to speed. We're discussing the possibility of Hasbro releasing the aforementioned characters. Your reiterating of why the BotCon '07 Seekers weren't released at mass retail really doesn't have any relevance to this particular topic.

Shattered Glass? Nah. Not unless the Grimlock comes with a British voice chip.

As someone else mentioned, Henkei Thundercracker fills the need for a mass-release Universe Thundercracker. Anyone who really wanted a Thundercracker either got him at BotCon or ordered the Henkei version as soon as it hit. On the flipside, I wouldn't mind seeing Hasbro repaint Ramjet into Dirge and Thrust. The lack of unique wings, combined with slightly different paint details should be enough to distinguish them from the BotCon exclusives. Those who got the Games of Deception Set could still be proud that their Dirge and Thrust have cartoon-accurate wings. However, I readily admit that Dirge and Thrust will probably never see mass retail release. Personally, I'm fine with Hasbro finishing out the Rainmakers and letting it go. Move on, and find some other mold to repaint a thousand times. :)

When you look at it like that, it seems more realistic imo.

I'm not getting into this argument again, but can you please explain to me how time affects exclusivitey?

Where in my post did you read anything about that????
My point, well-said by Sledge, is that I could see Hasbro cashing in on these characters later on.

I don't think it ruins the trust of exclusivity of future Botcon sets,
as long as Hasbro doesn't make the mistake again of having
original-to-G1-characters as exclusives.
As I and others have said before, Shattered Glass is a PERFECT
idea for that set;
characters that are targeted for more than the average casual buyer or kid (aka 90% of the general public).

Again, I think there is gonna be a point where Hasbro almost has to release those characters...
The list of G1 Decepticons already seems a little short.

What trumps all of the speculating is the bottom line...

Hasbro wants money.

There have been how many hundreds of Decepticon characters to make new figures of, they don't HAVE to make those particular figures at all.

I'm not sure what you mean by "original-to-G1-characters as exclusives." But if FunPub doesn't release characters as exclusives that people know/care about, they not only will lose sales there but also general Botcon attendance.

It's releveant because Hasbro already made their bed with the seekers because of the way everything originally unfolded. And that was their fault, not FunPub's and they shouldn't go back and screw with FunPub just to cover their own butts and make some bucks in an underhanded way. We'll probably just have to agree to disagree on this one, but I always enjoy hearing your thoughts, even when we're not on the same page.

The point with botcon Dirge is that his wings aren't cartoon accurate. Part of the charm of the (G1) coneheads was always the unique wings... setting them apart from the main 3. The sad part is that the mod to change Ramjet to Dirge properly was incredibly easy. Many people did it for themselves... and they have a much better end result than the one funpub spat out for botcon. I 'made' Dirge for sentimental reasons, he was always my favorite decepticon jet.
