I know you are new here from your joining date, so I am not coming down to hard at this moment. Watch your crass language and attitude. And for the record you defense of the word gay is lame at best. Why do you think it is used in the manor you suggested it is. It has a derogatory meaning that does offend people. Next warning will be via pm and it will not be as nice.

Man, I joined this site, hoping I could meet some cool TF fans and all I've seen on a lot of boards are haters and negativity. Even more than on some of the SW forums I frequent.

thank you saya. We all know how greedy Hasbro is, but the line needed to evolve to keeps things moving, whether it be for merchandise or not.

So now this thread is about evolution and not one franchise beatin' the crap out of another? The movie is not evolution. It is a new face to a brand to introduce new product.

This thread isn't about bashing Harry Potter (though I will take any chance to do so- the books to me were boring and cliche', while the movies were overly long and dull). This thread is about pride, I think; it's very similar to rooting for your favorite sports team. In my case, Potter is the Green Bay Packers while the TF's are Da Bears. This thread is about rooting for an obviously superior movie (lilke Da Bears) going up against a movie that every single one of my friends that have seen it say is very bad (like the Packers). That's all.

One note on the extra day argument: HP opened with early shows on Tuesday, and not just a single showing like TF's, so it essentially HAS been out for six days. And we still beat em out by 4 field goals.
GO TEAM! Oh yeah, and the Packers still suck.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

So far, I've seen Transformers twice (and going to see it two more times with two more people) and I've seen Potter once.

Honestly, Potter did not impress me. The movies are getting worse with the longer books and the books are getting worse the longer they get. I stopped liking the books after Prisoner of Azkaban (my favorite of the bunch), and it's not because the books themselves are LONG. I like long, indepth books. I just think they've been getting exponentially RIDDIKULUS. (hahaha)

I haven't thought about the Transformers since I was a child. Hell, I didn't even remember EVER having been a fan until I talked to my mom about the movie TODAY. Apparently, I was a Transformers NUT for three years of my young life (and with a child's short attention span, that's saying something) and then I found the Ninja Turtles and moved on. Having said that, I went into the movie with severely lukewarm expectations...

...and I was blown away.

I'm sorry, but in my mind the Transformers have won, and they will continue to win. I haven't had the desire to go see a movie repeatedly in the THEATERS since the rebirth of my other childhood love, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, got their new movie. Old school love just can't be replaced by a newcomer so easily.

'Til all are one.

finally a positive post. How annoying is it to hear "TF suck and Harry Potter rules!!!" all over a TF forum. Wtf???
Both will do well, and I agree with the statement - you can't accurately judge TF over HP5 because one is the first of a series and the other is a 5th installment. HP fans aside, it seems like no one wants to show pride in TF. Sad.

I've seen the movie twice already. I think I'm starting a trend where if I go the movie its going to be with a person who's seen it already and a person who hasn't in addition to myself.

I enjoyed the film. Bay did a good job putting his own twist on a great series. I can't wait for 2 and 3. But I would like them NOT to be filmed at the same time. You know, put some time in between each one and let the hype build up.

What knew characters would you like to see in the sequel?[/img]

Soundwave, for certain, but not as a tape deck XD and maybe Ultra Magnus and Grimlock!

Wow, there's so many I can think of that would be fun, though...It's hard to just pick a few XD

I'm tempted to say Arcee, but I'm not sure how a Female Autobot would look in the movie. Her protoform was kinda cool in the prequel comic, but I'm not sure how well she'd translate to an Earth form...

i don't know where this came from - Hasbro or Dreamworks' idea - but there was an ebay auction of a toy of Arcee in which her alt form was a motorcycle. I think this was a prototype for a voyager class Arcee. Hopefully she'll show up in the next movie. Glad we didn't lose her in the 86' movie when she's late getting onto the rescue ship.

I believe she was a motorcycle in the Energon series. That was the inspiration for my Autobot Starsaber/Shadowracer.

They both do what movies were designed to do

I have not posted since I was known as Nathanielj2 on the Michael Bay message boards (the guy who thought Soundwave should appear and create such sonic potency so as to make human's ears and eyes bleed as ravage and laserbeak picked them off). Knowing, that I appreciate the dark and disturbing in movies, know now that I support both films for what they have acheived. One commercial... and one narrative.

Watching TF for the third time the other day, I was as giddy as a thirty year old man can be. The transformations were outstanding. However, we all must admit that the characterization of the robots are loose at best. The producers did not believe that a modern audience could identify with feeling robots, and therefore created a very human storyline. In doing so, they made Jazz's death so trivial that it might as well have not taken place. "Awww Jazz..." is all we get after it has been made clear that he is Optimus' number two, and that they have fought side by side for millions of years. ****' A man. For the love of Christ... after that, we don't believe for a second that these are anything other than more complex washing machines.

Harry Potter on the other hand is full of emotion. The characters in that movie feel everything. The special effects are as good, maybe not as complex, but the movie grasps what movies are truly about... story telling. Moving the plot along is paramount.

If I had to vote... I'd say, go see Harry Potter. Because the movie isn't a commercial for something. It's a Movie. I'm gonna buy the toys Hasbro... just give me a reason to do it next time. Give a thirty year old man a reason to purchase a toy and tell his kid about it. "Yeah, this one son, this one gave up all he had as a scientist on his home planet to ensure that a lower lifeform somewhere else had a chance to think for himself." Not, "****, this hummer is cool as hell, I wanna buy that, and let me throw a MP3 player in there as well and some pepsi, and a My Little Pony for my neice...."

I'm gonna buy the toy... give me a story.
