CALLING ALL TRANSFORMERS FANS TO SHOW HARRY POTTER WIZARDS, "WE SHALL STAND, THEY WILL FALL&quo

Of course if you HAVE been around for over 20 years it seems that some have a little trouble looking past their little fan obsession to see that Harry Potter is a phenomenon to rival the likes of Star Wars and Transformers.
But then what would I know? What with being 8 years old in 1984 ... growing up with Transformers for 3/4 of my life, Star Wars for pretty much as long as I can remember ... and loving the Harry Potter books and movies for the last decade. Yeah, I wouldn't understand at all.
Why would they have cancelled Transformers if its popularity hadn't waned? And what does TMNT and MMPR have to do with anything, I don't think they were even mentioned? And how does this relate to Harry Potter? Does its popularity wax and wane like the moon or something?
Hmm, yes I see the sarcasm now. You'll have to excuse me, but there's just so much stupid in this thread your post seemed like it could actually be serious.

as someone who really did not appreciate the transformers movie for various reasons, most of all disappointment, I walked out of the theater after seeing harry potter laughing in disbelief.
how could a movie about a bunch of teens doing magic be so much better than transformers?
a cohesive plot?
respect for the audiences' intelligence?
interesting characters?
I had to laugh to keep from crying.
I weep for you, my transformers.
I knew you once....

Not to burst all your bubbles, but this whole thing is silly. For one, who cares how much money a movie makes? You had confirmation of your sequel before it even made a dollar.
Secondly...
Look at TF's BO totals from the 11-13th
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... mers06.htm
Now look at HP from the same three days:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... otter5.htm
Not only does TF NOT have any days (including it's opening Monday and first weekend), but HP's opening day totals are #1 (Wed) of all time. Even beating out Spider-Man 2.
If you guys are going to see TF again and again because you love it, then more power to ya. If you're going because you think you're going to make some kind of difference then you're wrong. The only thing you are making is some CEO at Paramount richer.

Click the tab that says "Foreign Totals". There are 7 tabs right under the main box on the page that has a marroon border.

Well, He have fallen, at least domestically.
Transformers is Number #2. But I wonder if we still have a shot at keeping the number one spot world wide this week too?
Can Transformers be able to stay #1 worldwide while been #2 domestically?

Don't you know that Harry Potter is bigger than Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? There's no way Transformers will beat Harry Potter, as much as I would like it to.

Harry Potter remains a box-office charmer.
The Warner Bros. fantasy sequel "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" conjured up a $77.4 million debut to lead the weekend box office, according to studio estimates Sunday.
That raised the movie's total domestic gross to $140 million since opening Wednesday.
"Order of the Phoenix" also has taken in an additional $190.3 million in 44 other countries where it began rolling out Wednesday.
"Transformers," the DreamWorks-Paramount sci-fi tale that was the previous weekend's No. 1 movie, slipped to second place with $36 million, lifting its total to $223 million.

With much of the foreign market to go, it's a good sign that Transformers is actually keeping pace with Harry Potter.
EDIT: I wonder if Harry Potter has the same pull in non-english markets...

I've seen Transformers 3 time since opening night and I love it. Which ever new DVD format becomes mainstream (HD or Blue Ray) this will be the 1st film I buy for it.
BTW yesterday i came here and someone had a gif image of Optimus unleashing his arm-blade from the film. Does anyone know where could i get this image? Also, how do you put images in the lower part of postings? I'm not very familiar with that.

Potter wins - Transformers lose
Worldwide figures count. But then Paramount only have themselves to blame for not giving Transformers a true world wide release.
