Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. that's poetry. As for PR you're better off not knowing
Some statistics that should be listed is what the first Harry Potter movie took in. It was expected that HP did better when taking into consideration that 85% of Transformer fans think Bay is a Piece and the movie was nothing like anything Tformers has ever been.
It was the greatest original movie/story ever.

We have to remember that international releases still don't include the MAJOR TF markets of Korea, Japan, and England. Transformers has seen release in 23 countries, Harry Potter in 44 countries. Potter also has had the advantage of recent books and a so-called "craze" leading up to the release of the final book as well as being a sequel; sequels always have the advantage of a large fan base- even larger than our Transfan base. I have a firm belief that in the end TF will be neck-and-neck with Potter and will surpass both Spidey 3 and POTC. The important thing to notice is that, even in week two, it made more in its second week than movies such as "Die Hard 4", "Fantastic 4 II", and "Ratatouille" did in their FIRST weeks. Let the countdown to Transformers II begin!

<---is on fifth movie viewing.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

First Week gross for "Harry Potter": $140 million
First Week gross for "Transformers": $152 million

Take that you teenage whiner! Til all are one!! BOOYEAH!

Transformers was Opening for basically a 6 day holiday weekend. Harry Potter was open for a 5 day regular weekend...Just saying. Harry Potter 5 had the largest single Wednesday gross ever. TF had the best Tuesday opening ever. Apples and oranges.

Although $225 Million isn't too shabby!

Wow how is this thread still going. who cares really...it's not like they are rival cartoons or something. i could see if it were a Steelers movie going up against a POS Browns movie, but these two are totally unrelated...anyway i spoke my peace... :-?

Another thing that helps the Potter movies is PG rating. I personally have enjoyed this thread it has been fun. It is still impossible to compare a 5th movie to a 1st movie. You must compare Potter 1 with Transformers 1.

A. It's not much of a prediction to say that a new blockbuster will make more money than a week-old blockbuster on its release weekend.

B. I have no idea where on Earth you got that information about the last Potter movie (I have to guess that's what you mean by "the last movie"), because the last one made the second most money of any other Potter movie: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises ... potter.htm

edit: Is this what you meant?-- http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/ap/2007 ... 08000.html

If so:
"Order of the Phoenix" did more business in five days than each of the first three "Harry Potter" movies did in their first full week, and it nearly matched the $146 million first week total of the fourth film, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," Fellman said.

Either I found the wrong article, they changed it, or you really misread it.

No, the thread was about encouraging people to see Transformers over Harry Potter. It wasn't a bash Harry Potter thread.

And even if it was, there was still no need to post what you did. Go read the rules of the forum.

Oh and *points to Darth Bombshell* that guy's a Mod, might wanna pay attention to his suggestions too.

For a 'God of Transformers' you seem to enjoy rooting for the other team.

for all you other sucka mcs:

LOTR & Star Wars - bonafied classics, legendary epic status, cannot be touched

Transformers - classic, many incarnations over a long period, already proven it's staying power

HP - a rookie, immensely popular, will be probably be around a long time and eventually may achieve legendary status
