I am up to 12 times. I gave it a 7 out of 10 when I frist saw it and not it is up to a 9 out of 10 b/c as with most movies with this much CGA and action you catch small tidbits of storyline and action with every viewing. Can't say that I am bored at all after watching it this many times either. Says a lot about the movie. For some movies once was enough. I am sure that we can all make a list of those ones!

If you haven't been around for over 20 years you can't understand how something like Transformers and Starwars is so much more worldwide and popular than Harry Potter. Yes the Potter books and movies are good and popular right now. Many things have been popular for 10 years like Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Harry Potter. Maybe in 15 years some of you guys will bring Potter back for your kids like these others. Transformers will still be going strong and the 5th movie will be on DVD. Transformers already spans 3 decades in America. They actually started in Japan under a different name before Elvis died.

Wow! If I had a bootleg (which I don't) I'd probably be up to 12 or 15 by now. I don't usually return to the theatre to see the same movie unless it's really good. Mostly comic book movies get the honor. I think I have seen the first two Spiderman movies at least 30 or 40 times each (on DVD, of course!).

I also give Transformers a 9/10.

Totally agree with you, the first few times you see it you don't really get a sense of appreciation for the amount of detail in the film. But when you know where and when to look, you see just how amazing it is.

When I first saw it...I think I'd given it a 6-7 out of 10 too, but now i'm up to 9.5. This Friday, i didn't even mind the whole sector 7 bit, which before then i couldn't stand for one bit.

I know that a lot of people complain about the action being too complicated and hard to watch, but you appreciate the detail after you see it a few times. I know a lot of gamers said they didn't have trouble keeping up with it, though.

I've only seen it once and I'm sure I missed a few things, maybe. My wife said it was to fast to keep up with the fight scenes. For someone that was thinking about every Transformer he'd ever turned from bot to alt mode I had no problem. Seeing Transformers transform into different modes is what makes me the customizer I am. Yes I was bug-eyed through the whole film to see everything, but I don't think I missed a thing. I may have to wait till Transformers is at the discount theatres to see it again, but HP will have to wait till it's on cable.

eh... this thread is still funny, but not ha-ha funny.

i know i said i wouldn't get involved beyond my initial comment, but the idiocy levels are just too high to resist. besides, perhaps i can stir up some more amusement.

first of all, the initial purpose of this topic, moronic though it may have been, was to get the tf movie to beat potter at the box office this weekend. in that context, arguments about which has more staying power are moot; the question is which franchise is more popular right now, and the answer is harry potter, plain and simple. that's not an opinion, it's a fact. that doesn't mean that i prefer harry potter. it doesn't mean i'm talking negatively about the tf movie or tfs in general. it doeswn't mean that harry potter will be around longer than tfs. it means that, at this point in time, harry potter is infinitely more popular than transformers. to claim otherwise is ignorant and just flat-out stupid. and, in this discussion, that statistic is all that matters.

secondly, to the people saying "don't post on a tf board if you're going to support harry potter over tf": since when did this movie become the sum total of all things transformers? this is a site for fans of transformers in general, not just the movie. tfs have been around far too long, in far too many forms, for you to accuse someone of not belonging on a tf board simply because you think they're talking down about the latest incarnation (which, btw, the people the comments were directed at weren't). as members of this board, we all have a right to voice our opinions on any version of tf, regardless of whether those opinions are positive or negative. if that includes saying the new harry potter movie is better than the tf movie, so be it.

I am worried about this HP movie that may beat TF beacues HP books are well loved by the girls in my family and also the female cousins on father side are big HP fans and readers.

HP seems to be on fire.

But TF will come up on top in the long run.

Even if it didn't, I'm still gonna watch TF hundreds of times. On DVD of course. :)

Its true harry potter is more popular right now no one can deny that, I myself saw the movie yesterday because my gf watch transformers the movie 2 times in theatres with me, and to be honest she said its disappointing as hell. so in my opinion its gonna make a lot of money but since hollywood f'ed up on the missing parts on the book they will lose the money.

Of course if you HAVE been around for over 20 years it seems that some have a little trouble looking past their little fan obsession to see that Harry Potter is a phenomenon to rival the likes of Star Wars and Transformers.

But then what would I know? What with being 8 years old in 1984 ... growing up with Transformers for 3/4 of my life, Star Wars for pretty much as long as I can remember ... and loving the Harry Potter books and movies for the last decade. Yeah, I wouldn't understand at all. :-(

i think you're missing the point, Burn. Transformers, like Star Wars is eternal, and never wanes in popularity cycles. If you had of been around in the past 20 years, you'd know first hand how Transformers kicked TMNT and MMPR ass.

Hey there I'm new here!

Anyway, I just saw Order of the Phoenix today and it was disappointing. Its in the running now but just how many people are going to watch it again and again? I saw Transformers THREE times and I STILL want to watch it again.

Why would they have cancelled Transformers if its popularity hadn't waned? And what does TMNT and MMPR have to do with anything, I don't think they were even mentioned? And how does this relate to Harry Potter? Does its popularity wax and wane like the moon or something?

I believe Ryan once said "Harry Potter: and the Puberty Adventure". My thoughts exactly as well. Transformers has to be the movie of the summer. I mean Spider-Man 3 didn't live up to it's hype and Pirates 3 was retarded since Disney had to put Disney style humor in it. The only other movie I enjoyed this summer was Live Free or Die Hard even though 1 and 3 are better. Sure Transformers isn't like the ones I remember but it had special effects making it a next step in films since The Matrix with bullet-time.

No .... really?

I must have slept through the decade between 1988 and 1998.

Wait ... isn't that when TMNT and MMPR were big and Transformers were all but dead?

And didn't TMNT exist in comic form before they were made into movies? And wasn't there a new TMNT just this year?

Simple fact. Harry Potter has been more popular in the last decade and enjoyed by more people across more generations than Transformers has in 20+ years.

But then that's just the opinion of a guy who grew up with Generation 1 and also enjoys the likes of Harry Potter, TMNT, Star Trek, Star Wars, Knight Rider, A-Team, X-Files ... yeah, a whole **** load of things that have existed for nearly and some times more than 20 years and all still have huge fanbases.

I thought this topic was about Transformers kicking Potter butt. I thought maybe a little refresher on how Transformers were knocked out of the spotlight for near a decade was in order.
