My wife is an IKEA guru. She loves that place, which is why I get afraid every time she goes there. ;) . Anyway. You could definitely measure Trypticon's base first. In fact all his dimensions.

I do see some nice glass display cases online, however, I have conceded that I neither have the room, nor the budget to spend on such a way to display my collection. I envy those that do. Still, I got a really nice custom build shelf in my room for my Titans. It is made of wood, and open, and yes it needs to be dusted as do the toys, but it's still pretty cool.

IKEA is also pretty versatile. Perhaps if there is not one glass cabinet that would fit Trypticon, sometimes they can be attached in some form, usually by some sort of bracket system, to make a larger display cabinet. I have three of the large IKEA bookcases, plus two of the slimmer ones all mounted together in my Livingroom for my media collection and books. Some have doors, some do not, but it really looks like one large unit despite being made up of several different ones.

Also, one way to reduce dust since I cannot put doors on my custom shelf...If you take some thin plastic, (for example a cheap dollar store shower curtain), and cut it to size and lay on the shelves, that will reduce dust. Some even put thin towels on the base of their shelves as well.

Mkdlmr wrote:Curious: any advice on cleaning transformers or preserving non-box packaging while opening (e.g. Micromasters packaging)? Thanks!

For cleaning, dry brushes work best. I would recommend a tooth brush and a 1" paint brush to remove dust and grime, finish with compressed air. If you have to use a liquid use isopropyl alcohol as it's plastic safe, non-reactive to metals and evaporates quickly.
Emerje, are you trying to mess up people's toys?

Apparently... Can't believe I wrote that. #-o I watch a lot of tech stuff on YouTube and alcohol is great for cleaning electronics, stuff like battery contacts and removing thermal paste, but it definitely isn't good for plastic. What I meant to say was hydrogen peroxide, the stuff used to whiten yellowed plastic, it doesn't react to plastic or paint and people say it doesn't even effect their stickers.

Man, I wish I had access to an Ikea, the closest one is on the other side of Boston, like a two hour or so drive away. I thought I'd try ordering maybe 10 Detolfs off their website, but they'll only sell me one and will only deliver it using their own truck for $200. Needless to say I don't own any Detolfs.

Tweezers, they'll save you a lot of trouble getting stickers into tight or recessed spaces.

Any display ideas for tight spaces? I'm trying to fit five Titans (Devastator, Omega Supreme, Trypticon, The Ark, G1 Fortress Maximus) in a fairly small office... I'm kinda putting them wherever they fit atm. Would like to get a sixth Titan (scorponok)...

Put 1 in each corner of the office and put Fort Max on your desk. The OG deserves the primo space.

Sure it is 54 inches Long 50 High and 11 deep

or

137cm X 127cm X 28cm,

It doesn't bother me, but if I had to do it again, I'd probably make it a little taller, maybe 58 inches (147 cm) and 12 inches deep (or 31 cm).

I didn't want to waste a lot of space, and knew the tallest titans were 22 inches. But I didn't account for things like shoulder towers, or really long swords  .

Well I need to get up there soon, Unfortunately if you look too close, you will see a couple cobwebs in the upper left. . But I put down a soft plastic cover on the shelves themselves (made from a dollar store shower curtain) which prevents the shelves from getting dusty.

However Pressurized Air in a can in your friend. also as others have mentioned cotton swabs, or fiber rags with the least amount of dampness possible, even baby/sanitary wipes I've found useful as well.

I wonder if we can't find a giant piece of plexiglass somewhere to make a "glass" door.... There certainly seems to be plenty of it around :-\

Over here, you can buy a big plexiglass sheet and have it cut at the hardware store.
I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do it on your end. Be careful because plexiglass is expensive.

I think most fans are enjoying the new core class on their own merit as an inexpensive simplified way to own many legacy characters. But they scale pretty good with Titans also. Nothing is perfect, but it's about as good as you can get before things get too small and hard to transform.

I'd wait another year before buying any plexiglass. Between distribution and supply issues and the high demand for clear sneeze guards the prices are all out of whack. Wait a while and maybe an 8'x4' sheet won't cost $150 any more.

It's your topic, ask what you want. Aside from the actual complimentary figures like Cog, Sixgun, or Brunt, there are options like Core figures mentioned before, but there are some non-transforming options. ReAction figures from Super7 are pretty good, but also a little pricey, but you can buy them in a bunch of places. There's the World's Smallest line that are tiny figures in bot mode of Optimus, Bumblebee, and Starscream (with an unpainted head...), I keep Prime with the Ark. Then if you watch your dollar stores they sometimes get some really nice little G1 figures (love their Grimlock!), but also key chains that you can probably clip the keychain part off of.

If you can afford it, get a Perfect Effect Warden. It's a great figure in its own right, representing IDW's version of Fort Max, but it has a commander mode, which is him turning into a head that fits onto G1 Fort Max, giving him a more proportionate head.
