They've made this point on MSNBC, but it did occur to me independantly that this is the first time since the Kennedy administration that we've had young children in the White House - and by young, I mean preteens.

Communism believes in equality through force. In its system, individual rights are ground to powder and used to build its idol of absolute government control.
Communism is a distinct socio-political philosophy that is willing to use violent means to attain its goal of a classless society.

In America we are all equal and are supposed to have the same opportunity to rise above.
But we are still into equality for everyone, as every person should have the same (equal) chance at "making it" in life.
Unfortunately do to society most are not given this equal opportunity.

Thanks for making this thread. Allow me to share some brief thoughts from the perspective of an African American, a Muslim a child of the early 70's and a Transformers fan...

I cried in the place where hurt and hope reside but I stand aloof as I watch for proof -not as a passive, the opportunity too massive to show what we are made of!

I have been called a nigger as I walked down the street, and I have been called a terrorist as I walked down the street and this day proves that vindication is the friend of patient perseverance!

I believe that humans are definitely "more than meets the eye" and I love to witness and participate in the process of "Transformation"!

Anyway, I was just pointing out how you linked equality to Communism and how that was funny 'cause your own Declaration of Independence pretty much states that all men are equal... which (according to your statement) would make either God or Thomas Jefferson a practitioner of Communism. See, it was a joke

Ok enough about communism and everything else (looks at self).

Let's get back to the topic.

I was pretty disappointed today. I went to the gym during my lunch break specifically to see at least part of the inauguration, and I took the treadmill whose earphone jack wasn't working. Plus that, I was in the back row and couldn't see the televisions well.

But I did catch the look back at Dr. Martin Luther King's speech 45 years ago and how it is pertinent today. I was pretty excited to see the inauguration, but I guess I'll have to catch the highlights on Youtube.

I watched the Inauguration live earlier, and I have to say I'm happy this day has come. Some have said that Obama should not be judged until he has served some time, and I do agree. However, it's also worth mentioning that his mere election has stirred up a lot of feelings and spirit (mostly good) in the American people, and that in itself, is the beginnings of change.

The change has begun people. Brace yourselves, it's gonna be a wild ride.


PS- (Sorry to tack more Communism onto this, but I'll try to be concise.) America was originally a Republic, though in the past 150 or so years we've begun calling ourselves a Democracy (and sometimes a Democratic Republic). There are slight differences between the two. In some ways, Democracy is more liberal. A staunch Republic doesn't work any better than a Communist State in the long term. Just look at Rome. Republics lead to patriotism, expansionism, the rise of the wealthy, and eventually imperialism. With politics, it's all about finding a stable middle ground, and those are pretty rare.

I asked for the communism talk to cease.

Talk about your downers - apparently Sen. Ted Kennedy had a seizure during the lunch at the Capitol and was taken out in an ambulance. I hope he's well.

I didn't think I would be able to view the festivities but I guess I walked into the office at just the right time to see the Swear-in and the following speech. Normally a boss wouldn't like an employee hanging out for a half hour watching TV but when the owners of the company are there watching with you, I guess you're off the hook.

I'm generally not thrilled with any new president recently, especially when the tagline among everyone I know is "well, he's better than the last guy". Still, I'm always willing to give the benefit of the doubt until he screws up. Hopefully that won't be the case. At the very least, he's a very inspirational speaker.

This kind of stuff should not be on a site like this. I come here for my hobby and escapism. If i wanted to see a home-page banner with the president on it, i will go to cnn.com. Regardless of affiliation, politics and entertainment should not mix.

Im all for the president, but lets stop deifing him until we see what he can do.

And i doubt all seibertronians voted the same way. way to alienate a few good transformers fans

You go right ahead. The FBI doesn't have anything in my statement they can do anything about. So please do.

If you do not wish to read about non-Transformers related items, then do not visit this thread. Or move to a different forum site entirely - though, in my (limited) experience, these non-site theme related threads are common on most sites.

Hell the only thing historic about today is Bush is finally out

Otherwise theres nothing historic about is IMO

If you do not wish to read about non-Transformers related items, then do not visit this thread. Or move to a different forum site entirely - though, in my (limited) experience, these non-site theme related threads are common on most sites.

This is still a Transformers site. Nothing else. Ryan started this with his graphic change to the site. If people don't like what is in this thread there is two simple steps.

Change the graphic back to reflect the theme of the site

Lock the thread and all others like this.

Its a transformers site, plan and simple. Regardless of if this is a general thread or not.
