Just recent events? Considering that the movie is named after a holiday in honor of the colonies telling the Brits to f**k off 240 years ago, it should have been tainted for you from the start. :-P

But it's still a pretty good movie.

Independance Day 2 was garbage. It's literally everything people accuse the Transformers movies of being, but they're really not. The acting and writing was so poor, it was distracting. I could tell they had the laziest script ever for this movie. People would just blurt out lines of exposition for no reason, with no connotation at all. Scenes would just cut from one to another, with no context. Like, scenes would literally cut in the middle of a conversation to another scene that looks like the last scene, but it's somewhere else entirely. The action was boring the whole time, and I couldn't bring myself to give a good goddamn about any of it. I still didn't hate it, though... but it was certainly one of the most boring "action," movies I've ever seen. How do you manage to make an alien invasion movie boring?

Well s***, that's probably the best review I've heard of this movie yet. And by that, I mean it's the best argument to go see it, because it sounds like a good movie if you hate it that much.

You would think so, wouldn't you :-P but I do still enjoy the first film so I may make the time for this when it comes out on disk. Still not a patch on my favourite 50s alien invasion b-movies like earth vs the flying saucers or the day the earth stood still.

Just got back from Resurgence and a tasty Mexican dinner out, and I can safely say that Sly's reverse-proclamation proved to be true!! It was a really fun sci-fi, summer blockbuster type flick! As good or as original as, well, the original? No. As an awesome, mindless, and fun film to see on a summer afternoon? Hell yes! Acting from baby Thor left a chunk to be desired, as did some of the other young talent, but it didn't drag the movie down like a certain franchise.

I'd give it 4/5 stars with a big thumbs up for the kaiju class Alien Queen which, honestly, was freakin' awesome, as well as the cool (Will Smith aimed) line of "It's the forth of July, let's show them some fireworks!"

Why? Because he enjoyed a (slightly dumb) popcorn flick? That's pretty harsh coming from you, considering your blind, stalwart defense of the tf movies >:oP

Well I went to see Independence Day Resurgence yesterday & thought it were an OK movie, YES it's not for everyone, but if you go into it as a fun popcorn munching leave your brain at the door alien invasion sort of a film....then you'll be fine with it, but if your expecting something else, then you could be disappointed(of which many have....judging by all the negative responses in general that it's been getting).

btw if they ever do a 3rd film....although highly unlikely due to the high number of negative feedback it's been getting(for the current film)....according to the end of the film....they're gonna build spaceships and take the fight to them! so does that mean it'll turn into a Star Treky/Warsy kinda film?(but obviously not as good as those)

Can we all just take a good long break on the word "literally"? It's threatening to overtake "ironic" as the word most overused by people who have no idea what it even means.

On a separate note, I am a bit saddened by a death. 1 of my childhood favorites, Bud Spencer died yesterday. His movies were always fun to watch. :(

Here is my review of Supergirl season 1. For those that don't know Supergirl (aka Kara Zor-El aka Kara Danvers) is the first cousin of Superman. In this series she and baby Kal-El were sent to Earth but the Krypton's explosion blew Kara's escape pod off course into the Phantom Zone a region where time doesn't exist and where the Krytonains built Fort Rozz a maximum security prison that houses some of the galaxy's most dangerous criminals. When Indigo (a blue female version Brainaic) uses her powers to use Kara's rocket to escape the Phantom Zone and both Kara's pod and Fort Rozz crashed landed on Earth. The now adult Superman (who is shown only in silhouette and body parts) finds his 12 year cousin and sets her up with Danvers Jeremiah, Eliza (played by former Superman Dean Cain and former Supergirl Helen Slater) and their daughter Alex.

Believing that the world doesn't need another superhero Kara goes to work as an assistant for Cat Grant a powerful woman who has built a multimedia empire whose new art director is James Olsen who Kara develops a crush on. When the engine of a plane with Alex on it explodes and crashes Kara rescues the plane and exposes herself. Alex tells her not to be a superhero, but Kara feeling that she is meant for this tells Winn, best friend at work (and is a super hacker and the son of Superman's enemy Toyman) that she is Supergirl. Winn helps her design her costume and then she shot by DEO a secret government agency that is charged with protecting the world against aliens namely the ones that have escaped from Fort Rozz all under the leadership of Astra the twin sister of Supergirl's mother determined to rule the Earth. The second-in-command of the DEO is Alex. Eventually Supergirl reluctantly teams up with the DEO and is put through training by Hank Henshaw the head of the DEO, who tuns out to be another superhero.

Melissa Benosit is perfect as Supergirl/Kara Danvers she looks like an adorable dork as Kara and like an angel as Supergirl. Claista Flockheart steals every scene she's in as Cat Grant a character whose storyline shows how Supergirl and Superman should be presented. This series is the perfect rebuttal to those piece of **** abominations known as Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This series has been picked up for a season 2 on the CW joining the network's other superhero shows Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Arrow and like them there are plenty of Easter eggs and shout outs to various creators.

I often believe that first seasons are like rough drafts they tend to be hit-and-miss but there are a few that nail it and this is one of those few that absolutely nails it. I LOVE this show. I honestly can't think anything that it does wrong. The writing is top notch and the music is basically an homage to John Williams iconic score to Superman: The Movie. The series can bought on XBL and PSN and is probably on several streaming services, and is coming to Blu-Ray in Sept.

If Superman: The Movie made you believe that a man can fly then Supergirl the first season will make you believe in hope again. I can't recommend this series high enough I'm giving Supergirl: Season One an ultra rare 5 out of 5.

Went to see Jason Bourne yesterday, aye it's a good film and what you would come to expect from these Bourne movies
Tommy Lee Jones plays a decidedly evil character(obviously taking over the mantle that was left by Brian Cox's character) the Bourne musical cues are still in there, the action scenes/car chases are as good as you would expect of this franchise, the only letdown for me anyway....was the very shaky camerawork(& yes i saw this at the pictures and not a pirated copy off the internet) and of course...as you'd come to expect....the end credits do have Moby-Extreme Ways playing over them

So. What new trailer got you the most hyped at SDCC16?

For me it's a toss up between Kong and Wonder Woman. But honestly the latter mostly because of the theme music, which I am in love with.

Additionally, Disney announced, in their in finite wisdom, clearly not learning from the flop that was Ghostbusters, that they are doing a gender inverted version of the Ron Howard, Tom Hanks classic, Splash. So...yeah...that is going to be a nightmare.

Nah.....for me it was the Justice League footage, actually the ones that would've got me excited was the ones that we didn't see(Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, Spiderman Homecoming & Thor Ragnaroc) outside of the SDCC.
