Well there's not much more of a connection between TF and Spider-Man is there?
Only one tiny comic book issue

I also need to find the insignias for the Helic Republic, Guylos Empire, and Zenevas/Neo-Zenevas Empires

And also the current New Avengers/Transformers cross-over, but I think most people want to forget that.
So if people are going to be coming forward with custom faction symbols, why not make them awarded?
Leave the canon symbols as core selectable and if a person wants to use their custom symbols then they should get them through earning them either via tournament awards or achieving certain criteria (kills etc).

On second tought, not a bad idea... Now where did I put my Rexcon sign?

And what connection is there between Transformers and TMNT?

Okay, general observation here: Almost every time a new idea is suggested for something cool, that everyone would like to enjoy, someone says (and I paraphrase) 'hey, it should be an award for pwning everyone else'. So, basically, the list of things that 'should be awards' only granted to the most dedicated players keeps growing, and they're all geared towards comorbid conditions (I think we can all agree that there is a high correlation amongst mission wins, kills, and tournament victories).
So what you wind up with is a game in which the 10% smartest and most dedicated players get noncanon subfaction icons, triplechangers, custom weapons, custom altmodes, special minicons, extra character slots... etc. And the rest of us just get the core package.
So, in short, you want to pimp the fact that your troops rock? That's good for you - taking pride in good work and all that - but I think their place on the Highscores table should do that. Or their medals/rankings. Or their custom/prize alternate modes. Or their custom weapons. Or their triplechanger configuration. I think their badassness is well established without them having to monopolize the subfaction emblems, or whatever the next cool/sexy/useful gimmick that comes up is.
Every cool thing that comes up doesn't need to be an award.
