Fires_Of_Inferno wrote:You know, I just realized something; with the legacy toy line giving both TF Cybertron characters, as well as obscure characters...
It might be his time!
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:grimdragon2001 wrote:The female figures who are normally repaints of male characters like Road Rage and Burnout, built from the ground up with 100% new sculpts that have proper female proportions.
To be honest, that creeps me out. Ever since Blackarachnia's sexualised physique in Beast Wars. I prefer the other way around. Because it wouldn't make a difference to a race of alien robots...
Strika being the perfect example. I wish all the Fem Bots were re-designed like her and less ..Kiss Player/stripper.
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:grimdragon2001 wrote:Wouldn't that be the Michael Bay stuff then? I remember a lot of people disliking those designs, and those of Beast Machines.
Personally I would be fine with more obviously alien designs though. Thing is, if the characters are going to be based on humanoid forms, then one should be able to look at a female character without any context what so ever and see a female character. And looking female doesn't automatically mean sexualized.
The main problem with the Bayformers designs (aside from awful visual gags) was their lack of a vibrant colour palette.
I've always championed that the Vehicon's were the purest vision of what Cybertronians should look like.
Beyond my bugbear that gender shouldn't be applied to robots in the first place.
I'll point out an iconic female character:
Crasher - GoBots
Pretty sure she predates Elita-1, Arcee et al
Fast forward to Blackarachnia:![]()
I'm not going to demonstrate half of the search engine results for BA or any of the subsequent FemBot designs, to make my point. There is a difference between looking feminine and sexualised. Robots with boobs and curved thighs, to me falls directly into the latter.
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:It's creepy where ever it is applied. Transformers are only humanoid as they are bipedal. Humanising them visually, in that way, caters to a certain demographic and nothing more.
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:Anything else known about the character (like was he separate from Megatron?) or is the drawing all we have?
Unless this image featured in one of the Almanacs. The drawing is all I've been able to find. But, considering Cyclonus' entry (Via TFWiki):Cyclonus appeared out of nowhere in a storm of light and tachyons over New Kaon. As Scalpel reassembled him, he noted his immense power, that his internal chronometer was off by megacycles, that he constantly muttered about someone named "Galvatron", and that — perhaps most peculiarly of all — his sourcecode shared Starscream's "self preservation" algorithms, albeit commented out. Cyclonus soon swore allegiance to Megatron, but seemingly in the abstract
I'd say Galvatron's origins appear G1 faithful too. Which in turns of design is odd.
-Kanrabat- wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:That is odd compared to what else Animated was doing with the characters.
Maybe that Galvatron would have come from the G1 universe, for a multiverse ark in Animated.
MaximalNui wrote:If I recall correctly, there was an interview where Derrick J. Wyatt (RIP) where he said while he'd never appear in the show, Animated Unicron existed within canon and was closer to the G1 cartoon incarnation of massive-weapon-gone-wrong.
Incidentally, Violen Jiger was his creator here! Seriously!
I couldn't care less about R.E.D. and putting human characters in it would be terrible for scale compared to other characters from any line (including other R.E.D.s) unless they're significantly smaller than the other R.E.D.s, but I recall someone on the Legacy thread a ways back had the idea of a Core Class upgraded Sari that turns into her scooter and we all loved it.MaximalNui wrote:And would be anyone interested in a R.E.D. of robot Sari or Meltdown? Or one of the many anti-Transformers mechs?

It is the perfect like for bot modes that are impossible to accurately bring from the screen to toys without some sort of compromise...
ZeroWolf wrote:Exactly, or botanica for instance. Especially stylised designs like Animated.
Imagine if Hasbro announced that they were finally giving us Animated Omega Supreme but under their breath say "in the RED line."

That brought this to mind, for some reason. Just slap Sari's face on front I guess?
I already said I couldn't care less about the line, of course I haven't paid attention to it. Doesn't change the fact that a figure of Sari that's that tall is just a waste, especially when we know they can do characters like that as Cores instead a la SS86 Spike. The only possible human character I can think of that could get away with being that big would be Miko in the Apex Armor, and I wouldn't even buy that if it was still made with the same crappy materials as every other R.E.D. figure.-Kanrabat- wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:I couldn't care less about R.E.D. and putting human characters in it would be terrible for scale compared to other characters from any line (including other R.E.D.s) unless they're significantly smaller than the other R.E.D.s, but I recall someone on the Legacy thread a ways back had the idea of a Core Class upgraded Sari that turns into her scooter and we all loved it.MaximalNui wrote:And would be anyone interested in a R.E.D. of robot Sari or Meltdown? SCALE in R.E.D?
You clearly haven't been paying attention.
-Kanrabat- wrote:There's many human characters who had an important role in the TF universe and it would be pretty nice to have Marvel Legends sized action figures that are of high quality and highly detailed.
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:They are the focus. The only times humanoid characters matter in Transformers, when they should receive decent figures. Would be when they are Head/Target/Powermasters. Otherwise, stick figures would suffice.
AllNewSuperRobot wrote:So yes, quite right. Human figures definitely belong in this thread. They would shelfwarm and shelfwarm hard.

Core class Spike is a thing. Be sure to take pictures if he ends up shelf warming in your area.

This whole tangent started because the question "would anyone be interested in R.E.D.s of human characters" was posed, are you saying we just shouldn't answer the question if our answer happens to be no?-Kanrabat- wrote:Also, just a reminder.
This thread is about Transformers (and toys) you want but you know HASTAK will never make.
Not "The thread of things I will never buy".
I mean I don't put that much stock into scale being perfect from really any of the shows, as long as it's in the right ballpark, and Sari being part Cybertronian I am willing to give her a bit of leeway. I just feel like there's a significant difference between a Sari that's the size of a cassette or another human in a power suit versus a Sari that's *checks Thew's R.E.D. Megatron review* like a head shorter than a Voyager, if we're still operating on the "every R.E.D. figure is the same height" thing?-Kanrabat- wrote:As for a transformable Core Class Sari, unless she's reimagined into the G1verse as a human riding a powersuit, she would be way too big to be in any scale with Generations.
I cannot tell if my area skipped the wave or if Spike actually sold really well, I never saw that Spike figure in-person but the Shockwaves and Ravages were ever-present until recently when I saw the Ratchet and Wheelie wave hit. That Spike actually transforms though and has the "privilege" of being G1 so some will buy it by default, whereas R.E.D.s of human characters from across the various continuities wouldn't have those advantages.Emerje wrote:AllNewSuperRobot wrote:They would shelfwarm and shelfwarm hard.

He meant non transformable, Marvel Legends / Star Wars Black like human action figures.
