ROBOT REVIEW
IRONHIDE'S DEAD!
Yeah, he was killed, maybe 40 minutes into the film. He died with epicness, no lie, with a hole through his chest, rusting up, and his head rolling off into the streets. Sentinel Prime, how could you do this to all Ironhide fans!!! Anyway, total G1 homage in his death, shot in the chest a few times. "What have you done..." ~Ironhide's last words. Rust in peace....
Ratchet, err, he did have a significant role, I don't think it was any greater than ROTF. I mean, you see... he got enough time to call him a main character, but really it wasn’t that much. More so than ROTF, which makes me happy.

Do I remember correctly? Did Megatron say he was suppose to rendezvous with Sentinel on Earth? So the escape was all choreographed and Earth planned as THE spot? I don't know how Megatron could know Earth was the meeting spot unless somehow The Fallen informed him of it. Autobots know nothing of Earth according to Optimus.

Also, didn't Megatron crash land on earth thousands of years ago? But he was meant to meet up with Sentinel in 1961?
Rodimus Prime wrote:So which happened first? Megatron's search for the Allspark which waylaid him on Earth, or the staged shoot-down of the Ark which subsequently landed on the Moon?

He was betrayed by his mentor (he had his right arm ripped off by Sentinel for Pete sake AND almost got decapitated!), PLUS... having some members of you team killed, due to your mentor's betrayal. How would you feel? To me, it was a fitting end to Megatron and Sentinel Prime!
Megatron, for being the power hungry MOFO that he is... he let what Carly said get to him. THAT was his downfall (even though it was true that he was becoming Sentinel's BIATCH!). Sentinel getting the SH*** blown out of him by Optimus for being a deceiving, heartless individual.
In all, I enjoyed the movie from start to finish. There were no "slow" moments... It was none stop action. A great SUMMER ACTION MOVIE!!! Looking forward to seeing it again and again!
The visual and sound effects companies BETTER get an OSCAR for this movie!

I'm really not looking forward to seeing Ironhide die.I'm a bit confused though - how can you say Ratchet had a "significant role" but no greater than in ROTF? He was hardly in the last movie at all. He only appeared in a small handful of scenes and only had maybe 3 lines of dialogue.

vectorA3 wrote:First of all, I liked DOTM and will see it again (tons of info to digest in 2.5 hrs). But it may not be better than Transformers ('07). It was better than ROTF, but seemed a little incohesive and rushed, especially the end. Ends so abruptly too. As I've said a million times, they should've waited 3 yrs. in between movies - not 2.
Quick gripes:
1) Not enough Megatron!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even in his weakened state, such a major character should've gotten more screentime + lines
2) Sentinel Prime -- a noble autobot leader & mentor of Prime would never be so malicious and harm humans, let alone Ironhide. It may seem cheesy, but a brain-control or memory override plot device would've worked much better. (I say this not knowing much about the actual backstory/comic history of this character)
3) Why didn't they show or even hint at the autobot's escape of the shuttle?
4) The jump forward in time after Sentinel first uses the spacebridge in Chicago to bring fighters & ships was not handled well. Pretty abrupt.
5) Lastly, what happened to Wheelie & Brains? Did they live or not? The ship crashed, but did not explode. Wth?

Unfortunately, you're looking for a dramatic film in an action film. With a cast of characters so large and a heavy focus on explosions et al something has to give. Unfortunately, you're probably in a minority when it comes to character development being high on the list. Let's be honest, no one is going to this looking for nominations for Best Screenplay. It's a summer blockbuster. Whether or not you're complaints are valid (and having not seen the film I cannot say, though I have an inkling) I think they are misdirected.
But do you see that if it had that drama AND the action, it would be altogether a better movie?
I saw it tonight and I enjoyed it but there were many moments that were rather pointless. If that time would have been used to further develop the Autobots', and especially Prime's, motivation it would have made more of an impact as a film.
Starscream GaGa wrote:Screamfleet wrote:Yea, which was stupid, why does megatron care what a human thinks, and why didn't he just kill her?
I think it was more the realization that he was getting the short-end of the stick than caring what she thought.
The real Megatron would killed her, then killed Sentinel Prime, then probably take a couple shots at Optimus Prime as well.
