Starscream breaks his silence? *Possible 5/5/07 update?!**

What does his voice sound like on that tape?
And what did Chris Latta sound like, too?
It is quite difficult to describe a voice...or a sound for that matter. He has a sort of scratchy mechanical sound like something which was tuning in and it became clear and almost sinisterly soft. I'd liken it close to the japanese Galaxy force Starscream. He had a lovely voice. Then it sort of tuned out and became scratchy again. I kinda wish I could download it into your head.
What was said on the clip was something like...
Scratchy and sort of unclear. Lots of jet noises and possibly something transforming "Attention Sector Seven Starscream."
"The allspark will be mine." this part was clear and sort of smooth, kinda attractive, especially if I visualise G1 in there. It is rather sinister sounding because it is almost human.
This last part is very hard for me to understand because of other sound effects in it. "Regardless of your(?) intention, you will face annihilation" or something close to that.
I can try to use my imagination. (My sense of touch also acts as a kind of substitute for hearing, especially if I put my hand on something and feel the vibration.)
Sounds...sounds like the slowly turning meat grinder and when it grows soft, it's almost like a content cat's purring, correct?:)
Not to be too nosy, but do you, or are you able to, enjoy music? I'm guessing the concept would be fairly different.
I personally wish we still had Misdreavus around... quite interesting herself-- she was mute... and always got pissed whenever people assumed she was deaf as well!
Well I was kinda assuming only one one you is deaf.

No, I'm not pissed if you know I'm deaf. I just don't tell the whole world that I'm deaf...I am simply being one of you, heh.
Thank you for describing the likeness of Starscream's voice to a subtle vibration over the sandpaper (assuming the finger is really your ear if you can hear.)
So it does sound like Starscream has a few rats scratching away inside his voicebox?

"The Allspark will be mine". *nods* I can take that. I just wish it was just a tad more high in pitch. :3 For once, I'm not disappointed by the writers! lol

I must say I appreciate your restraint.

i don't know, perhaps i'd have shown less if i actually cared about the movie at this point. although really, my vehemence when it comes to parker has as much if not more to do with how he got the part as with the voice itself. and it also helps that this, like dobson's starscream, clearly isn't trying to duplicate the g1 voice, whereas parker's was. it's just too generic for my tastes, which means that while it's not up to the high standards of the other voice casting that's been announced, it'll fit in perfectly with just about every other aspect of the movie.

he gave it to himself over a more qualified voice actor already on staff. he was also the casting director for the show, so he simply decided he wanted to do it and cast himself, ability be damned, even though scott mcneill had flawlessly assumed the role of cobra commander without anyone noticing when latta left gi joe in the early '90s.
i'm sort of infamous on this site for my vitriol on the subject of both his starscream voice and that episode as a whole, and this section gets way too many angry rants as it is, so i'll just leave it at that.

At http://www.buzznet.com/groups/StopSectorSeven we have a new user calling himself "Cod3x" (with the letter 'o' instead of the number '0' like it was on the Sector 7 "Informants" email). The user has posted a new audio file that he claims to have received through his SETI@home program...

Now, I'm no audiophile, and the voice has been modulated a lot... (You'll get what I mean about halfway through!) If anyone can clean up the audio file so we can hear what he's saying, that'd be wonderful!

Im not that impressed. To me he sounds like an old guy just reading some lines. I mean its pretty flat, where is the inflection? I guess they are going with the old slow and creepy delivery so that you know its a bad guy talking.
