But the 86 Series made me think...are we to expect a UM figure in this line?
I'm sorry if this has already been covered but if we will be getting a figure then I will be returning the Kingdom version, of course if it's over all better than Kingdom UM.
My thanks in advance!![]()

From what I’ve seen in video reviews & photos, this current mold is decent, but could be better.
I get it; making this character work with all the moving parts is tricky.
And if I ever see the Kingdom version, I’ll probably get it (& wait to open it to make sure I really want it).
But I’m to the point where I’m willing to take partsforming & whatever else to get a really solid, accurate-looking bot mode.
If this means the trailer is a completely separate piece & the parts that help form the bot mode are stored in/on/under the trailer in alt mode, fine by me.
If they can do it right, really right, I’d be okay with this becoming a Commander Class figure.
The current version(s) have issues anyway…
So I’m willing to see what another option could bring to the table.
I know some will say any UM that doesn’t include all trailer prices into the bot mode is worthless trash.
But from what I see in both Siege & Kingdom versions is a bot mode with a couple major issues, and a janky-looking truck mode… Imo opinion neither is done well.
Again, I get it, there is a lot going on with making this figure work.
I just don’t believe we’ve seen the best version possible.
Bumping him up to CC of course is a game changer & opens up doors to increased number of parts, engineering, etc.
But for the size as well as what’s involved with this specific character, I think it’s the best bet for getting a definitive version.
Will a CC figure ever be put into the SS86 subline??
Maybe not… But if Hastak is confident it’ll make money, I don’t think this would be an impossible shift.

Yeah I bought a set for Siege Magnus but ended up using it on Kingdom Magnus instead. Actually I don't care for the Siege smaller robot, but really like both the Kingdom armored version and the smaller robot. So I wonder if I can put the Kingdom armor on the Siege smaller bot... But then what do I do with the Siege armor...?Overcracker wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Yeah I also concur on Kingdom Magnus might as well being the SS version. Agreed. 3rd party legs exist to make him taller though.

I believe the armor is interchangeable yes. no harm in trying.william-james88 wrote:Regarding Magnus, does anyone else take issue with how his hips are done? The ratchets at that part have an elastic kind of feel where they bounce back.
Yes, they are kind of springy when going back and forth. When opening sideways, no ratchet, and kind off loose on mine.
Overcracker wrote:Siege and by extension Kingdom already does all that for Magnus. There is really no expectation of having the entire armored robot mode not parts form. Its armor, it supposed to go over a smaller robot, so it needs to parts form. Only MP chose to have the entire thing be self contained, and people complained about the lack of albino Prime underneath.
Siege and Kingdom get all the basics of Magnus down pat. Not sure what more you want out of an Ultra Magnus.
The trailer mode is a bit off, but just a bit. More so with Kingdom and the changes made to it.
Kingdom Magnus is essentially SS Magnus only in the kingdom line. Much like Galvatron and Cyclonus are SS in Kingdom.
Magnus is nowhere near janky. And is pretty close to definitive in robot mode.

Nuclearxpotato wrote:On the topic of 86 Grimlock, is the DNA kit the only one with the clear neck pieces? I like the Nonnef kit (especially since it's relatively cheap for an Upgrade kit), but they don't offer the neck piece or lil baby arms. Also how are Nonnef kits in quality? I haven't heard much about them, but they seem to cast their plastic instead of 3D printing it.
Or am I just better off taking the risk of waiting for a Toy Deco Grimlock?
They probably figured that if they were replacing that much of the figure they may as well just go the whole hog and make one that actually transformed, but I don't really see the need anyway. Fillers maybe, but not more than that.Emerje wrote:Razorbeast88 wrote:DNA design made an upgrade kit for 86 grimlock and I might get it just for the wheelie alone
Shame they included that Wheelie figure since I refuse to by third party KO figures. If they had just included articulated arms and legs for the existing figure (and if I hadn't bought a couple Grimlock upgrade on eBay already) I might have been more interested.

I'd honestly just advise those in search of better Wheelie to just get Titans Return or Legends (unless they've gone stupid up in price...). The Wheelie that comes with SS86 Grimlock is really just a scaling prop to convey the exaggerated size Grimlock has on Quintessa anyway, akin to the Legends-class Optimus that was packaged with the "Megalo Convoy" release of Cybertron Metroplex to convey the Gigantion characters' in-show size but cheaper. I don't feel a need to have a fully-functional one under these circumstances.
Got SS86 Hot Rod last Wednesday, been enjoying him overall even with the altmode flaws. Did a review of him, if anyone's interested.
I can't wait to get my hands on Wreck-Gar. This is the CHUG Wreck-Gar we've needed for so long, and he is a major "Shut up and take my money" figure for me.
Also looking forward to getting my hands on Scourge, Grimlock, Slag... But that'll take time, barring windfalls.
