Totally agree there's only so much you can do with the figures...
Which is why the throne design is about the throne design. Being a piece that is supposed to be "interactive" with figures, it should be made to work well with at least a couple... And if nothing else, if it is intended to be for Megatron, it should work well with Megatron.
*edit
"It's intended for SS which is why it came with SS"... I don't necessarily believe that.
It was a way to help bump him to leader class, and was probably a better idea than a small platform that would only be 1-2" tall (what would fit in a box). Starscream standing on a small plastic plate doesn't exactly yell "regal king".
And I get it, how much different could it be and still fit with everything else in the package?
Well, considering it's a new box, this was a chance to make it large enough to compensate, and if that's bigger than what's required for other leader class figures, well, this isn't the first or last time that's going to happen.
Imo, design the throne so that Starscream actually sits on it, rather than is crouching over it.
Hastak could've made that happen.
It's going to be interesting imo to see how this figure sells...
Seems while some are excited, just as many aren't.
And a $50 price tag is definitely enough to turn away the average parent and/or kid.
For what it's worth, my nearest Target had 2 roughly a week ago, and as of yesterday had 5.
