And I'd be willing to bet that it wasn't originally supposed to continue after Kingdom ended, but that had to in order to pad out Studio Series in general to keep it going for another year due to the pushback of Rise of the Beasts to 2023 (unless they still plan to put out the ROTB toyline this year and I just missed that news).ZeroWolf wrote:To be fair, ss86 only existed because of a decision to put beasts in the third part of WfC

TFW article from today says the RotB toyline still releases in April, dunno if that info has reached these parts yet.Sabrblade wrote:And I'd be willing to bet that it wasn't originally supposed to continue after Kingdom ended, but that had to in order to pad out Studio Series in general to keep it going for another year due to the pushback of Rise of the Beasts to 2023 (unless they still plan to put out the ROTB toyline this year and I just missed that news).ZeroWolf wrote:To be fair, ss86 only existed because of a decision to put beasts in the third part of WfC
1. Both WFC and SS86 have figures that have more or less "'greebling" and/or blast effect parts than their compatriots. Scourge has both, the Dinobots have both, Jazz has "greebling", the Galvatron you say follows the "SS86 aesthetic" has the battle damage paint apps from Siege and "greebling", even Wreck-Gar has some "greebling", just a low amount.Sowndwave76 wrote:But besides ports/pegs, there is a different aesthetic. Period.
But anyone who wants to deny this… I truly don’t know how or why.

I just went upstairs, grabbed Kingdom Jackpot (since he was closer than Jazz), SS86 Sweep, and Siege Shockwave (sans armor) and came back. The only "difference in aesthetics" I see here is the fact that 2/3 of them are based off Diaclone designs and the other is a Floro Dery design (and Shockwave has battle damage paint on his feet, but you said you're ignoring that), same amount of molded "greebling" on all of them. They could have put these figures out at the same time and I would absolutely believe they were from the same line.Sowndwave76 wrote:I mentioned the Dinobots & why figures that large would have more molded detail.
Jazz doesn’t have the greebling that Siege figures do.
And I was specifically talking about molding, not paint apps.
Which I wouldn doubt if that was a last minute add-on.
I’m betting SS was supposed to be slightly retooled… Which there was a photo or two floating around where he had altered parts; I think it was legs.
But your post is exactly what I’m talking about.
Saying Scourge doesn’t have a different aesthetic from Siege/ER figures…
I guess we’ll agree to disagree…
This is my reaction every time you bring this theory/argument of yours up, so on that we agree.Sowndwave76 wrote:But wow.
I saw the detailing you mentioned when I looked at my Sweep, and I agree that it is similar to those Cybertron lads, but I don't know that it's a close enough resemblance to indicate anything in regards to new figures of them. I'm kinda wondering if maybe that part is going to be painted as a cockpit window on the rumored Alpha Trion retool, honestly.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Did anyone take notice of the detail on Scourge I brought up, or did it get buried under Sowndwave's whinging and the Junkyard discussion?
Given the track record of such updates thus far, odds are good you'd be disappointed even if it happenedNemesis Primal wrote:I saw the detailing you mentioned when I looked at my Sweep, and I agree that it is similar to those Cybertron lads, but I don't know that it's a close enough resemblance to indicate anything in regards to new figures of them. I also really want Generations updates of both the Armada and Cybertron Sideways designs though, so I'm purposefully trying to not be excited by this possibility so I can't be disappointed later.
Entirely possible, although I am the kind of weirdo that actively likes/enjoys Siege Galaxy Prime and Selects Hot Shot (partly since I never had the originals to compare to, despite wanting them) as well as Kingdom Cheetor's altered design, and is excited for Legacy Arcee and Bulkhead (although I admit Bulk's proportions are eh), so my taste in terms of how accurate updates need to be clearly is....questionable compared to the standards of a lot of the others here.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Given the track record of such updates thus far, odds are good you'd be disappointed even if it happened![]()
Especially if the C-Sideways update was largely just the Scourge mold with his head and color scheme.
Sowndwave76 wrote:At this point no one questions why SS86 was created.
Although I’m betting this subline is probably selling better than any other.
Talk about a happy accident.
But besides ports/pegs, there is a different aesthetic. Period.
The molded details seen on both Siege & ER figures has not been added to figures in SS86.
It’s what a few of us have been calling Siege greebling.
The Dinobots are an exception (as well as ER Starscream) but not surprising considering how large they are, and in turn, how large their limbs & panels are.
Cyclonus & Galvatron are definitely 2 that have the same design aesthetics as Hot Rod, Scourge, Kup, Blurr, Wreck-gar, Perceptor, etc.
I’m not claiming this as my personal discovery by any means.
But anyone who wants to deny this… I truly don’t know how or why.
And no, I don’t care which packaging a figure is sold in.

I've no reprimand for any of your other points, but they explicitly stated that the throne accessory is Megatron's chair from the Nemesis, which would require that this point is not up for debate.
(Sorry, i've been watching "The Legend of Zarak" on Youtube this morning.LOL)

If I didn't know better I'd guess that Cyclonus was the more screen accurate SS figure. Imagine that.
