Though, the notion of it being part of a capsule line does feel right for it being part of the successor to the Velocitron line, since Velocitron is itself a capsule line. However, thinking more about it, it's entirely possible that it could be a capsule line belonging to some other retailer, like Amazon. We'll just have to wait and see at this point.

What we know about this upcoming capsule does match Velocitron better than anything we've seen from Amazon.

Velocitron- Leaders x2, Voyagers x3, Deluxe x7
Wreck N' Rule - Voyager x2, Deluxe x5
2023 capsule - Leaders x2, Voyagers x1, Deluxe x5

If the 2023 capsule has another wave like how Velocitron did then the numbers would certainly match up even closer.

Target capsules have no structure of any kind so I think we can rule that out unless it's replacing Buzzworthy.

I call bull because we already have a deluxe for the price of a voyager. I call that someone, somewhere, done goofed up. Maybe a reissue in the Buzzworthy line will have it fixed?
I think Sabrblade was being a bit cheeky with that comment.

But seriously, I also think it was an oversight in the design phase, as opposed to a manufacturing misstep. Regardless, Ironhide looks better with the stripe, but would Reprolabels give us just a set of 2 stripes? Would that even be worth the material?

Knowing Toyhax, they would not only make a set with the stripes, but also all those G1 toy details and the obvious stickers for the windows, making the use of clear plastics all over pointless. At the bare minimum, this would be a 10$ set.

HA!

Called it.

What do people think we’re getting in the upcoming 2 pk?
Today I heard someone guess an Ironhide & Ratchet with battle damage parts and/or deco.
I’m hoping that’s not it.
I’m also hoping that even if it doesn’t involve any battle damage, that this hasn’t become Ratchet’s SS86 release.

One idea I’ve had is a Prime & magenta Hot Rod.
Assuming Buzzworthy keeps with straight repainted figures; give them each 1 gun, throw in a matrix, & I think Hastak would be alright with the $76 price tag.

It should be a Deluxe and a Voyager based off the price, so maybe Heroic Nonsense Ironhide & Prowl? Either that or Magenta Hot Rod and...I dunno, a Legacy Junkion repaint or something?

76 is the CAD price, making it 55 USD which is too cheap for a deluxe and voyager, sounds more like a 2 deluxe pack with some accessories. The tooling for a battle damaged itonhide existing makes me think he will be one of the two.

Regardless, this won't disrupt 86 Ratchet's solo release

I have serious doubts about Target selling exclusive dead Transformers in stores. Amazon I could understand (like Alternate Universe Optimus Prime), but in a store where the bulk of purchasers are parents? Feels unlikely.

I mean I'm just banking off 2 things here:
-JTPrime also said "it's 55 in USD, so it should be a Deluxe and a Voyager", and betting with that individual is typically safer than the opposite
-Every recent Target-exclusive/BB multipack has retailed for a cheaper price than it's individual components would have sold for, to the point that the Creatures Collide set was very nearly 4 Deluxes for the price of 3, so I think a Voyager + Deluxe for $55 fits Target more than 2 Deluxes + extra stuff

william-james88 wrote:The tooling for a battle damaged itonhide existing makes me think he will be one of the two.
I thought you just said the price was too low to include a Voyager, how can it include Ironhide in that case?

I don’t think Target or any major retailer is going to have an issue with selling TF toys that appear very damaged or even “dead”.
I get it, it’s not ideal for a toy to be the catalyst for kids thinking about death.
But while these figures have human-like proportions, they’re highly fictional in appearance, especially compared to some of what you see with Star Wars, MotU, & even DC & Marvel, where characters may be 100% human in appearance.
Also, knowing that the packaging isn’t going to include any verbiage such as “dead”, “death of”, etc.,
the vast majority of consumers won’t even know that a de-saturated, gray-colored TF figure is representing death. And if they figure it out, it’s still not very off-putting in terms of looks.
It’s a whole other topic for another post, but sometimes I think collectors easily forget that the average adult (& especially kid) don’t know much of anything about the realm of TF.

I think it’s a very valid point that previous Buzzworthy multi-packs have been priced well below the cost of the figures included had they been sold individually.
Assuming this 2 pack follows suit and both figures are straight repaints, I believe both could be voyagers. Of course, when the price is lower to begin with, who knows. I could still see one voyager being included.

The thought of a re-release of Thundercracker and Skywarp did cross my mind.
I don’t think it’s likely, but knowing if they were to just slightly alter a few colors, they’d be getting yet another use of that 1 ER mold… Plus the previous ER set was an exclusive that will be almost exactly 3 years old…. Considering voyagers are essentially $35 now, $55, even for 2 seekers, is a good deal.
What could be even more of a pull for some, would be if the set was a combo of something like Skywarp and Thrust.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want this to be what we get, but it’s not a horrible business decision.
The only Decepticons in SS86 have been Scourge/Sweep, & I guess you can count Gnaw.
Not that this is a situation that needs to be “fixed”, but it’s definitely an opportunity to get more Decepticons on shelves.

I’m just not convinced that damaged/dead characters make a lot of sense.
How many times are kids going to want to re-enact their toys dying?
Also, then what’s the point of transformation?
If new paint apps are involved, how do those translate for the alt mode?
Would damaged add-on pieces work for alt mode?
Imo doing a “fallen” theme for Prime was one thing.
But if this ends up being anything such as a “dead Ironhide and Prowl”, even done well, I’ll pass.
Like Fallen OP, & Coronation SS, these don’t fit into my collection.

I don't really feel we need a WFC-E29 Reissue so soon as I think it was quite readily available for some time. And even went to clearance prices at some places. I do wish I had bought a couple extras after seeing what they're going for on the secondary market already...

It seems the majority of Targets didn't even get them to begin with, I know mine didn't. That's the reason for the high aftermarket prices. We are seeing Ramjet getting rereleased so anything is possible, but not in a two pack for less than the original $60 price tag.

Agreed.
This made me think of the time someone posted a couple photos of endcaps at Target that literally had 12-18+ SS86 Slags (& a bunch of Grindors), & essentially claimed that those represented most Target stores at that time in trying to make a point.
Those situations may happen more than we’d think, but still have to be the minority, not anywhere close to the average.
That original E-29 2 pk was never overflowing; in my area those were bought up very quickly and never lingered.
Although I don’t think $55 is unrealistic for two figures of the same mold that’s already been used multiple times. At the same time, this isn’t a prediction; this is pretty unlikely.

Hastak clearly is alright with releasing reformatting figures, especially as exclusives.
It could be interesting to have a reformatting Skywarp, and Armada.

Really though, I won’t be surprised if it’s a voyager and a deluxe, or even 2 deluxes.
Knowing they’re going to be repaints, I’m not all that excited about this, more just curious to see if Hastak has a better idea & execution than Coronation Starscream.

That person was me. You stated those were errors on Target's behalf with 0 proof of such. And you have 0 proof that it isn't average either, yet you talk like you've gone to all Targets in the US. We cant talk in absolutes. What we know us that those endcaps with a bunch of grindors and Slugs were reported across the US. They were not errors (they couldn't be, Endcaps are Prime real estate, mistakes and surplus are sent to market six stores instead of going on shelves). And they all sold, well past after collectors had bought theirs months ago, proving that a bunch were produced to satisfy demand that was not coming from collectors. That was my point and it was confirmed by Hasbro when I personally asked them about the Target audience for these toys .

Now that you bring it up, you said the SS Coronation screamers in your area would never sell since collectors didn't want them. So, it's past the holiday season now, past the point where parents buy toys for their kids. Are those exact Coronation statscreams still at your Target?

I’ve never talked like I’ve been to every Target in the U.S., and I never needed to.
What I’m saying is there is no way that was the average stock of those figures for Target stores.
In this context, average means at least 1 of every 2 stores.
Because 1/3 would mean 33 out of every 100. Which at least in my opinion, isn’t average.
“Reported across the U.S.”…
I mean come on, how many board members even saw those overflowing endcaps?
Even if this had been reported from 12 people who live in 12 different cities in 12 different states…
That still wouldn’t justify this being average or the norm.
You’re actually the one trying to talk in absolutes.
What’s laughable is that what you’re proposing is substantially less realistic than what I’m proposing.

It’s like me trying to tell whoever never saw the seeker 2 pack at Target, “Well, you’re wrong. My Target had at least 12 stocked over the span of a couple months. Yours must have as well; you were just totally unlucky and missed them all”.
It’s not wrong to say they may have missed them, but to say the store they checked had 12 on shelves, because “All Targets were well-stocked with those 2 packs”… That is wrong.

My Target never stocked 12 Slags total… Let alone at once, or on an endcap.
And I do know this was the case for my local Target.

I’d also like you to explain how Target figures out what the demand is for a specific toy… Especially before the toy is released.
Because according to what you’re saying, the same Target stores that stocked 15-ish Slags on an endcap, have surely stocked 15+ Sludges on an endcap.
Unless Target also somehow managed to survey all non-collector consumers, & figured out that Slag is just that popular of a character, and much more popular than Sludge…
But because the majority of sales are from non-collecting buyers, that specific doesn’t apply.

william-james88 wrote:Now that you bring it up, you said the SS Coronation screamers in your area would never sell since collectors didn't want them. I never said those figures would never sell.
That was never the point I was making.
But I’m not going back into that.
And of course some of those figures have sold, especially leading up to Christmas when people are more likely to make less informed, last-minute purchases.
On the 22nd, there were 4 Coronation Starscreams, 3 Galvatrons, & 2 SS86 Ironhides.
Very few figures on the pegs. But again, that doesn’t prove anything.
Lots of aisles in the toy department were more picked over than I’ve ever seen at this Target, even during past Christmas seasons.

You’re overstatements and exaggerations don’t prove your points, nor do they prove mine wrong.

But back to the point, please give some evidence of how distribution to Target stores is based on demand, specific to individual toys.
If there is some survey or feedback I can submit to my local Target, I will; I want to get in on that so this store starts getting more figures that I want over the next couple years.

I finally got SS86 Ironhide. I gotta say, the engineering is pretty ambitious and effective. The bot have no backpack and he look good all over. The transformation get some clues from the Siege/ER deluxes, but with enough twists and turns to make it fresh without any partsforming. Impressive.

Unfortunately, the vehicle suffer terribly. Huge hinges all over the place and mismatching reds due to all the clear plastics. If they'd skipped using clear plastics altogether and have just painted the windows instead, the vehicle would have looked much better. Plus I bet there would have been enough paint budget left to add the missing yellow stripe on the van's sides.

For today's standards, I can understand why SS86 Ironhide is a voyager. But let's face it. That same toy (along SS86 Hotrod) back in 2009 at the RotF times would have been sold as a deluxe. SS86 Ironhide is even 10 grams lighter than DK-Guard with upgraded feet and repros.

Regardless its flaws, I don't regret buying it and I'm looking forward SS86 Ratchet.

That junkheap drive me nuts, it was never released in Walmart or TRU stores in Canada.

It has only joined the SS86 shelfwarmers here. I think Perceptor, Jazz, and Grimlock were the only SS86 figures in my area that moved fast. Slug, Hot rod, and Gnaw were here and hung around a bit, but they did move. Sludge, Ironhide and the cores have only just started showing up in the past month and a half. The Arcee wave isn't here yet.

But Kup, Blurr, Wreck Gar, Scourge, Sweep, Junkheap, and Starscream have shelfwarmed hard. $8 they are asking for the deluxes. Kup and Blurr are probably the reason the Bee movie Ironhide wave only JUST started showing up 2 weeks ago. I have not seen a voyager in stores past Bee movie Soundwave with the exception of Junkheap. and Starscreams are everywhere and anywhere.

I only just found a single Junkheap for the first time last night, at a Walmart I normally don't go to since it's out of my way.

Aside from Kup and Blurr, the situations are very different and another great case of issues with distorbution but at an international level (which is tough to reconcile). When you say the Arcee wave didn't show up, you mean the one with Sideways and BB?

Correct, no sign of the Sideways wave yet, and I got those 5 months ago

I've only seen 1 since November and it's still sitting on the shelf because someone really wanted to put the open box style to the test.

Meanwhile I got one on Amazon before Christmas for $22.50.

At the same store I found all those Starscreams, there was one or two Junkheaps, and another one had a few more. He hasn't been hard to find in my experience. Must depend on your region. (this is the second walmart)
