Yeah I guess I got too caught up in what I think their scale should be  instead of just enjoying a great figure. So as soon as I spot Slag in store again, he's coming home.

Any ideas or guesses on who or what is supposed to be included with Sludge next year?

Probably nothing, Sludge's dino mode should be more than enough to fill out the price point. Maybe they can do something cool with neck articulation so it can tuck inside his body (though sometimes it's shown hanging off his back). Real question is will Sludge just be a heavy retool of Slug?

Yeah I guess they're the same body type. Slap a longer neck and tail on Slag, with a new head, and you have Sludge, in dino mode at least. Slag's transformation is pretty neat, so I don't think they would mess with it much, except maybe to accommodate the long neck somehow. And I agree that Sludge's bulk should be enough to justify the price point, we don't need any more "minifigures," as if we can call those pieces of plastic actual figures.

It happened only once in PotP, that's no guarantee that'll be norm for every other new version. >:oP

Yes, I can see they have similar designs with the wings and dino legs, but with Sludge's torso making a 180 degree turn coupled with SS Slag/Slug's leg transformation, I don't see it happening.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sludge is a heavy re-tool of Slag, but I’m betting he’s going to be different enough to call him a new mold.
I have a feeling that Sludge’s wings will be larger to help make his dino mode a bit larger.
Which I know doesn’t mean it can’t be a retool…

Hastak has my confidence with these SS86 figures, but I hope they’ve designed Sludge’s dino mode to have a relatively long neck, and tail (much, much longer than Slag’s).

If anyone is interested, here is SS86 Slug with the new Cyberverse deluxe Slug. I think my ideal Slug would lean more towards the Cyberverse one, with the better color disposition and the proportions of the arms.

All due respect, but imo that Cyberverse version is worse in every way.
It may not be a bad figure for what it is, but I’m terms of appearance, it’s not even close.

It's not trying to be G1 Slag, it's trying to be Cyberverse Slug. It looks like the character it's supposed to look like.

I got to say, Cyberverse Slag is more visually interesting to look at then G1 Slag. He's looks to be a much more fun toy.

If we didn't have Studio Slag Cyberverse Slag would still be far too small and I already have a few too small Slags.

TBH, I don't mind the old Classics ethos of updated designs. So if there was a good Leader or voyager Cyberverse Snarl I woulda gotten it. If I didn't have Planet X, Fansprojects, and and TFC's take anyway (I have too many Dinobots now). But, while Snarl looks good it's not just about him, but the other Dinos too. And from what I've seen the toys look cheap.

And I hate how Grimlock looks in Dino mode. There was a time I picked it up and really though about getting one. I collect Dinos. I have a few. But he just looks so dopey in dino mode and cheap all around that I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. Even on the large one, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. He got me to stop collecting Dinos.

It's obviously not trying to be a G1 version.
I was just saying in general, taking in consideration each figure for what they are and what they look like, the Cyberverse version just has no appeal to me.

What's interesting is that I look at those characters in the background, and I see color schemes that resemble a couple Stunticons, one that reminds me of Swindle, and others that look like they are representing other established characters.

Also, I saw some more images of SS86 Perceptor on Instagram, and he's looking really, really good.
I'm probably as excited about him as I am Kingdom Blaster.
Now I'm really happy I have him on preorder!!

Five Faces of Darkness was infamously notorious for miscoloring crowd shots. Even some Autobots were put on Chaar and some Decepticons at Autobot City.

If Hasbro really wanted to go after completionists they would make a Selects figure for each of those miscolorations.

I'd buy just about any Seeker they care to give me, but other random recolors? That'll be a hard pass.

Maybe if they looked really cool or like they belonged. But just about all of these are pretty bad.

One they need to make is Slipstream. Although I'm most attached to the Animated version, so I'd prefer some remolds to make her more feminine.

They certainly missed a trick, by not giving unique colour schemes to Sweeps and Armada. Looking at my Cyclonus Universe collection, his design works very well with a variety of different colour schemes.

As for Scourge and the Sweeps...

While I love the idea of a clone army and the aesthetic of that. No one ever does anything interesting with the concept. So they might as well start to colour them differently.

Code for Transformers Studio Series 86 Ironhide Found

Postby william-james88 » Sun Nov 07, 2021 12:11 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Fellow Seibertronian JTPrime17 has some fun news to share with us. A new entry for the Transformers Studio Series line has been found in Target's database: Studio Series 86 voyager Ironhide. What it is is anyone's guess (well, aside from anyone guessing it's not Ironhide) but it could be a rerelease of the earthrise Ironhide which never got a solo release. Since it has more accessories than the original Siege mold (and entire cover/shield), and might get more effects part to recreate a particular movie scene, it could be a rerelease of that same earth mode in a voyager package. That's my guess and it would definitely make a lot of fans happy since it gives us another chance to get that mold. You'll let us know what you think.

If it's a re-released Ironhide, I can imagine them bringing in Ratchet and Prowl to both recreate their minuscule screentime and drive those who spent the same amount for a new car on the eBay bidding wars to insanity.
