Takara Tomy Transformers Legends Toyline Thread

Honestly my biggest problems with UW Blastoff are the rather chunky shuttle mode and the fact his nosecone looks like nothing so much as a heaving bosom under a tight shuttle-themed jumper, which naturally is a bit of an issue. (Though it does make me wonder about a CW/UW Spacewarp.) UW Movor/Shuttler looks much better with his more toyetic configuration and the nosecone forming his backpack.
Honestly though, between the QC issues with UW Bruticus, that kinda silly Blastoff-coloured chestplate and the fact that Ruination/Baldigus comes with MOAR DAKKA, I think I'll be going (eventually) for Ruination rather than Bruticus for my military-themed combiner, unless Maketoys makes a Bruticus.

A lot of those reasons are exactly why I decided against UW in favour of CW. Hasbro Bruticus just looks so, so much better it's not even funny.

Blastoff UW over Hb Blastoff? Really now!

Colors are homages to the anime. Shuttle design is indeed different but at least it's a shuttle and not a Harrier jump jet (and still called Blastoff? Why no call him "Jumpoff then?)

Also, Baldigus only improvement aside from the re color are the new feet and fists plus the Computron weapons.

But I didn't refer to any of the things you're talking about. I was just saying Hasbro Bruticus looked better to me and agreeing with Black Hat's saying the Blast Off-coloured chestplate looked silly.
Either way, this has gone off-topic for a wee bit too long. I should have said a fair few posts ago that we should be taking this to the Unite Warriors thread.

Likely just give them more cartoon-accurate decoes. I doubt there'd be any tooling they'd want to change; the tooling right now is about as accurate as could be.
I just checked the cartoon representations of the clones. Hasbro's Fastlane and Cloudraker look pretty much on point with their G1 cartoon selves.
OR
Cuz, Takara would go with the first one above.
Seeing Punch there from Rebirth reminds me that I really want a new Punch/Counterpunch figure. But most important is that either co., looking at you Takara Legends, use the TF: Headmaster model for his head and both faces. Totally diff look and so way better to me. Its time finally, 2018 will be the year of the Punch....and Counterpunch.

Any idea when the Headmaster part of Legends will end? I know it's going into January but not sure beyond that. Curious if they'll release Quake as a double Targetmaster

If they release him at all. After all he's a straight retool, and a US-exclusive character at that, thus his chances are pretty slim. Same thing for Krok. I'm still waiting on Lightfoot (Getaway) to set the trend, but no sight of him yet.
We still have a few releases left, including:
- the Jumpstarters Topspin and Twin Twist. Whirl and Roadbuster have been acknowledged as Marvel UK Wreckers (with tophats, monocles and posh accent to match), so nothing stopping them from getting released.
- Decepticon Clones Pounce & Wingspan aka the Clonetron (in Japan, Cybertron subgroups end in "-bot", and Destron ones in "-tron"). We got the Clonebots Fastlane & Cloudraker, finish the set!
- Mini-Bot Seaspray, just 'cause.
- Windblade to end the phase with a bang, ideally with Scorchfire as Nijika, her sister.
- the Headmaster Warriors Lione, Shuffler and Toraizer.
- Black Shadow will get turned into an exclusive, mark my words!
After that, who knows? I'm predicting the Prime Masters to have the face plates retooled and released as the standard Pretenders. Only one missing from that line-up so far is Diver or Waverider.

Just had a wild thought, If Takara brings back Unite Warriors for PotP, they could in theory do Liokiaser using a Silverbolt repaint/retool for Leozack and then use Fastclash as Jarugar, giving him a gun secondary form for the team. The peg used to hold the spoiler would work as a handle.

How many of those figures might get held off until what I can assume is their Masterforce tribute line?

Plus, the Legends line currently has a ton of Masterforce characters in its fiction in addition to The Headmasters characters, so the time for Takara to be releasing Masterforce characters is now.

Overlord, God Ginrai, Goshooter, Minerva, Cab, Bullhorn, Cancer, those are Masterforce characters that made a toy appearance thus far. Still left are:
- Wilder from Fangry (can't believe I missed him

- maaaayyybe Lightfoot from Getaway if TakaraTomy feel daring
- Buster from PotP Dreadwind
- Hydra from PotP Blackwing aka Darkwing
- the Pretenders from retooled PotP Prime Masters
That's my best guess. Don't expect an appearance from the Powermaster/Godmaster gimmick tho.

Not to mention that the Pretenders and Dreadwing are the only Masterforce things from POTP. The rest is all 84-87 stuff.

The PotP gimmick is pretty close to a PM/GM gimmick, I could see Dreadwind and Blackwing released as Hydra and Buster with retooled Prime Masters that have engines on their backs instead of sparks. I feel like Takara Tomy will do something like that with Overlord, giving the figure a permanent head and two GMs with proper engines on the backs instead of faces. I know, we said the same about Super Ginrai, but he doesn't have a GM slot on his chest, Overlord has two.
I feel like we're ready for a second head set, this time for Highbrow, Skull, Mindwipe, Weirdwolf, and maybe Orion Pax (Amazon) and Alpha Trion.

Another possibility could be (since Takara would undoubtedly treat the new toys as new body forms for the two) that Takara might just release Buster and Hydra on their own without any accompanying Prime Masters, relying solely on their classic combined jet gimmick (and possibly on a new combiner limb gimmick if the two really can form combiner limbs like their original mold owners could), and giving them a new backstory of their having finally become fully integrated with their Transtectors, no longer being separate Cyberdroid-like entities from their Transtectors after their having given up their humanity to Devil Z to become full-fledged super robot lifeforms.Emerje wrote:The PotP gimmick is pretty close to a PM/GM gimmick, I could see Dreadwind and Blackwing released as Hydra and Buster with retooled Prime Masters that have engines on their backs instead of sparks.
Alternately, Takara could release their Overlord with three Titan Master molds: One brand new that resembles a mini-Overlord (a la Takara's Sixshot Headmaster resembling a mini-Sixshot) and forms Overlord's head, while the other two would be the Ominus and Dreadnaut molds as Mega and Giga (or lookalikes of them since Mega and Giga died at the end of Masterforce) but retooled to have new engine block backpacks instead of face backpacks so as to let them fit into Overlord's chest cavities like the G1 toy and Masterforce cartoon.Emerje wrote:I feel like Takara Tomy will do something like that with Overlord, giving the figure a permanent head and two GMs with proper engines on the backs instead of faces. I considered the three Masters, but couldn't think of a proper head. At first I thought they could upgrade Cancer as the head with Wilder and Bullhorn taking the chest slots, but then decided the normal head was better. But I like your idea of the head being just a mini Overlord. I wonder if for the chest spots they'd go the UK way with Energon beings upgraded from the drones/clones we've seen in the Legends comics? Explain them away as a tribute or something.

Takara Overlord Revealed!

Mega and Giga are Prime Master/Powermaster Engines.

Why this reminds me of Last Stand Of the Wreckers?

Base Mode is still the same though.

I may just skip the TR release of Overlord and wait for this one. Are we sure Giga and Mega turn into the engines though? Those engine blocks seem to be completely solid even where the titanmaster neck joint would be and I'm not sure how they would be able to be pulled out.

Thanks once again to fellow Seibertronian Albatross250, we've got some new images of Takara Legends products from the TFND Facebook page -- namely, their versions of Autobot Clones Fastlane and Cloudraker who have deco differences closer to the cartoon; final Decepticon Triple Changer Blitzwing who has deco differences and a Titan Master vehicle weapon redecoed from Titans Return Shuffler; and the big one everyone's been waiting for -- Overlord! Coming with new Powermaster engine pieces, two Titan Masters to replicate his original toy and cartoon appearances and a new facesculpt; this Overlord ends up much more accurate to the original Masterforce cartoon. Check out the images below and tell us what you think in the forums!

You're right. And the engines are recessed enough the flaps close, something that a titan master can't allow because his legs are in the way. And he does have two faces. Maybe they've given us two titan masters and two engine blocks. And to make them godmasters, you just unscrew their belly and swap the face for the engine?
