Looks interesting, though a little hard to make out a lot of details. Also hard to tell what colors any of these will be since the individual figures and combined they're tall different colors. I'm sure they'll be pretty close to the original toys and Brawl will be green instead of brown.

New Blast-off mold looks interesting, but I can't quite make out details, which is somewhat disconcerting.

It looks like his arms don't form the nosecone, but stick alongside the shuttle mode. But that means all that nosecone has to go somewhere, and it doesn't look like he has an aerialbot backpack.

It almost looks like he has an absolutely massive boobshelf. :-?

I'd be surprised if the arms didn't form the nosecone, considering when the designer first teased the new blast off, he said that was one of the main things he was trying to do. And it was a sketch of the arms seperating from a nosecone.

Looks like the designer wasn't able to pull it off. If you look at the combined form, you can see Blast-Off's arms at the sides of his body, folded at the elbow.

I'm gonna say it: I don't like the way he looks. The feet are too long, his chest appears to be ballooning out, and his bulky legs look off when compared to his thin arms.

Thats exactly like the hasbro one plus you can fan mode so that the legs look actually a lot better

HB Blast Off neither has bulky legs or a ballooning chest. I should know, as I own him.

As for my opinions on Bruticus, I think I'll stick with my Hasbro one. While the prospect of a new mold is nice, I'm fine with what I already have.

I'm with you there. I said I was getting him regardless of a new blast off because I'm a bruticus fan but after finally getting CW bruticus, I'm good. It's an awesome figure and I don't need to spend $140(American) on another bruticus just for a new mold and different paint. Fighter jet blast off has really grown on me and looks great in all modes. Maybe my thoughts will change in the next couple months but for now I'm just happy to have a new Bruticus.

Why would they? All of the UW releases have been box sets.

EDIT: Off topic, but I just noticed that it's been exactly a year since I joined the Seibertron forums! Been a pretty good year.

Nope! Only available with the Defensor box set.

There may still be a little hpe that Hasbro will do a single release, like they did with Quickslinger and Brake Neck. Maybe now that shuttle Blast-off exists, it's even more likely.

I'm more talking about the fact that since every UW release has been a box set, it would make no sense to break that streak.

And no, UW Groove is not available outside of UW-03 (unless you count him being retooled into Afterburner for the upcoming Hasbro Computron).

No. Firstly, Defensor was not an exclusive everywhere, just an exclusive in japan. There are thousands of Defensors out there and he is still readily available everywhere... but for a price. Whatever Takara makes an exclusive in japan, Hasbro Asia makes it non exclusive at a higher price to supply whatever demand there could be. And they charge higher :twisted:

They pay Takara a nice sum to have this privaledge. They have done this 3 times now, while Takara had 3 non exclusives before. Maybe the contract with hasbro asia (thath THEY wold provde the supply rather than Takara) was only for 3 releases. And now that they have their 3, Takara can make their newest one a non exclusive and let other japanese outlets sell it. There will still be a Hasbro Asia version, priced higher, but hat will not be the only way to get that figure now. We can get the cheaper Japan version. I know I will.

Thats fine and it makes sense. I did it the other way though. Knowing how Takara oprates, I waited to know what they would be doing before choosing. Like that I wouldnt have to buy another bruticus. I like what I see, so I will buy this Takara one instead. And it wont cost $135 US at all. I will get him for $96 US plus shipping, since as I wrote above, this one can be bought directly from Japan

As of right this moment, the only way to get that blastoff is with this set.

Congrats! Thanks for being such a sport and for sending us those news items!

PS: I just did my calculations and while it is obviously more advantageous for anyone outside the states to buy directly from japan instead of getting it from TF Source, any US collectors wont reap much from the difference of importing themselves this time. They would save at most 10$US, so not that much.
