Web shooters don't have to be organic. Spider-Man's weren't, at least outside of the movies.

This got me thinking: I don't know the Animated story, but in Beast Wars she was allied (sort of) to Tarantulas' splinter group.
Wild speculatiuon, but with occasional comments from folks that Tarantulas looked like Soundwave, and the existing Prime:Soundwave seeming to be counterscheming directly against Starscream in favor of Megatron, maybe this Airachnid character will become a contributor to Prime:Megatrons return.Just sayin.(I haven't seen the commercial for the episode either, btw).

So, you think that she's a NORMAL cybertronian with ORGANIC web shooters?
Hmm, actually, that's original.

-And she's goddamn terrifying. Arcee is fine when she knows she's up against Megatron or Starscream, but Airachnid leaves her goddamn terrified.
-Seriously, cold-blooded torture! I don't even remember Megatron engaging in that!
-Hey, Cliffjumper appears in a flashback, but he doesn't speak. Can't afford to bring back the Rock.
-And Jack blows up a Decepticon ship! Awesome.
-None of the other regular Autobots appear, except for Bumblebee, but only in a flashback.
-Also Tailgate! Though we never get a good look at him.
-Ooh, dig that hand-to-hand fighting.
-Airachnid got away, but she's stuck on Earth. So it IS possible she'll join the other Decepticons. She claimed she was working alone now, though, so she may act on her own, like BA.

Well, they made no indication that she was organic, nor did they make any indication her webs were, either. (Just because it's gooey, doesn't mean it's organic, once again, Spider-Man didn't have organic webs in the comics)

It's Blackarachnia crossed with a Predator! Much better than last weeks episode. They really turned up the creepy factor.

Episode 12 -
The opening has a very strong Star Wars feel to it (like the first scene to show up after the scrolling text in each movie).
In addition to Airachnid, we get another new character in this episode: Tailgate.
All these flashbacks we see would have to had taken place at some point after the Great Exodus (in other words, post-WFC/post-Exodus book).
Arcee uses the blades that are on her toy in order break her arm free of Airachnid's webbing. Cool.
So, it looks like Airachnid is here to stay. How often she will appear, however, remains to be seen.
Next week... no preview again. Darn it.

It was actually a bit closer to the movie Predator, which opened with a Predator ship landing in South America.
Janus Prime wrote:I like the episode and all, but if Airachnid is too dark to be Blackarachnia, why choosing a spider bot? I mean, couldn´t they come up with something new?
Because they wanted her to be a Spider but not Blackarachnia.

This is the one they should have come back with instead of the sub par "Speed Metal"
When Jack blew up the ship i was disappointed as i thought they had killed another quality character off but i am glad to see she survived. I hope she pops up on a regular basis.
2nd episode in a row with no Ratchet!

Yeah, that´s my point. If there´s already a very similar character in the fiction, why going that way? Why not a fem bot called Nightbird that transforms into a Valkyrie or something? why using a concept that was used recently?

Why not? They wanted a new character, so they made a new character.

Also, I would guess Hasbro liked the spider bot/toy concept and suggested bringing it back in some form.

Second, Airachnid doesn't have a beast mode. Her robot-mode legs simply curl up behind her and her spider-legs do the walking. I guess it has something to do with differences in mobility.
I seriously doubt she'd have an aerial-based alt-mode, since that would completely ruin the spider-theme they set up. That would be like introducing Springer, giving him helicopter-kibble, have him talk about how much he likes flying, then having him transform into a bicycle.

And how!Shadowman wrote:You know, I always wondered, why do you word your posts like that? Like it's a news post or something. Loosen up, you sound way too official.
Actually, I'd think that her "walks on spider legs" mode could be considered her altmode, just that it could be one of an alien species that resembles a humanoid spider.Shadowman wrote:Second, Airachnid doesn't have a beast mode. Sure her "transformation" is simplistic (robot legs retreat into hindquarters, twist hindquarters around & raise up, and extend spider legs from out of her back to full length), but existent nonetheless.
Unless we get a reason for her "Air" sounding name, I'd simply chalk up her name to begin a simple case of "Because poor literacy is kewl!"Shadowman wrote:I seriously doubt she'd have an aerial-based alt-mode, since that would completely ruin the spider-theme they set up. Taking a character and giving him or her a different name is not creating a new one, not in my book at least.
All and all I think it´s weird, but what ever, each episode is better than the previous one, that´s the important thing... still waiting for the show to get really good though.

While Airachnid may share traits with Blackarachnia, she is not Blackarachnia.
Just because it's a lady spider, does not mean it has to be Blackarachnia every single time.
