How hard was it to make sound wave sound like he did from the G1 cartoon series. WTF were they thinking???????????? I waited for 2 years to see and hear sound wave in the new movie and was excited to see him up in space until I heard him talk.......OMG! That was S@#$! Dr Claw voice over??????????? The DR Claw voice? WTF! That was so disappointing! The Voice of G1 sound wave really made the character IMO. the Dr Claw voice in this movie really ruined sound wave and did not suit the new sound wave design one bit! So in the 3rd movie Sound wave could be called Dr Claw instead! Wow, they satisfied the fans demands by putting him in this sequel but could not do something as simple as "retain" the G1 sound wave voice! Sigh! Why is it so hard to just listen to the fans to get things right. Yes Bays Transformers is an interruption of the cartoon series but he made Prime sound like G1 prime so why not make sound wave sound like G1 sound wave. I Hope in a way that Transformers 3 is not released until 2012 because hopefully it will allow then time to get things right. Seriously a popcorn flick it may stereotyped to be but FS, how hard is it to write a "storyline"??????????????? Completely absent!

The CGI and explosions was brilliant but the storyline and sound waves voice.....?? Oh well :-?

u do realize this isnt the G1 MOVIE>???? if u thought so you were wrong, they have the 80s one out on dvd and bluray! just get over him not sounding like the real soundwave, i had to with the horrible megatron!!!!! hugo weaving is so herendous it aint funny,

For the last time this isn't G1. It's a brand new Transformers storyline. Just think of it as a parallel dimension to G1.

I liked the voice. It was good to hear Welker again, even if it wasn't the synthesized voice of the past. In all honesty I don't think the original Soundwave voice would work on this take of the character. The voice Welker used worked.

Actually, it's more like an etirely different cluster of universes. G1 resides in the Primax cluster and the Movies are in the Tyran cluster.

The movie must of triggered something from my childhood because something about Welker's non-synthesized voice and soundwave just was perfect to me. I haven't seen either of these episodes/clips since i was a child!

Anyway as far as the movies not making sense its hard to avoid that, its freakin gigantic robots from another planet! But the things that are easy to avoid, Micheal Bay likes to do that, and i Don't blame him for getting rid of the 1980's style computer voice Soundwave had. What sense would it make?

Seems to me that Welker always used this voice for Soundwave, and the synthesizers were added latter... however in the movie they just didn't add the synthesizers!

Personally i think soundwave movie voice is cool. Very calm and firm. Fits him well.
Only complain is SW not come down to earth

You know, when i first heard Sound Waves voice in the movie, i was a little disappointed. I was kind of hoping that it would be more "synthesized". But after hearing these clips, his movie voice is really very close to his G1 voice (well at times).

IN the first you tube clip, listen to his voice in the beginning when he ejects ravage, then listen to his voice in the end when he says
"Good job Ravage!" The last line is spot on Movie Soundwave.

ave any of you seen the extra's on the Blu Ray special addition of TF 2007 - they talk about the voicing of Prime and Megatron, they said Primes voice still worked well, but Megatrons really didn't with the new uber cool look. It really didnt sound right at all, it was too high pitched.
I mean, why would you want a G1 Megatron anyway, its hideous, this is the first Megatron i have really likes, i mean at one point he turned into a hand gun, which is mega rubbish! Megatron, Soundwave and every other new film transformer has been voiced perfectly.

I was fine with Clawwave..I mean Soundwaves voice hehe. Its just frank welker unmodulated, as none of the voices were tweaked like the original series.

I was never the biggest fan of G1 megatrons voice, only reason Id like for them stuck with it was solely cause Welker voices megatron for everything but the movie. Weaving voice is menacing though, and fit the more beastial all spark obessed Megatron.

Both G1 Soundwave and Megatron barely used their alt modes since they were so situational at best. Megatron needed to fly, or he d be toast heh. Which they werent going go the G1 we fly just cause we can route, as everything that flew had an alt mode that did. Its humorous as the movie game points this out as the G1 megatron didnt transform, he just went into fly mode.The cons need be mobile, since unlike the autobots they cant just hitch a ride with humans get places easily, without disguising themselves anyways. Getting away a heck of alot easy for them as megatron and starscream headed back the nemesis to fight another day.

There have been plenty of reimagining with transformers, I had no issues with leaving what was as previous version, and accepting the new. They reboot the series every couple years anyways. If the movies do same after Bay is done with the third I wont be going well *so and so* soundwave doesnt sound or look like the Bay version. Merely does said version look cool or not on its own merits.

Bay stated that using the voice synthesizer would have made it difficult for some of the audience to understand what he was saying... as much as I would have liked a G1 Soundwave voice, I would have to agree with Bay... I even had trouble understanding Soundwave sometimes in the Animated series. If we couldn't have a G1 sounding Soundwave, then I think Bay did the next best thing. I loved how Welker sounded in the new movie.

I liked Soundwave's voice in the movie. Yeah, it was basically the voice Welker used for Dr Claw in Inspector Gadget, but how many kids today know that? For me, I felt like I could hear a bit of the old Soundwave in there, plus the gravelly rumble that seems to be prevalent in pretty much all the Movie Decepticons' voices.

Besides, we demanded Welker, and now that we got him, we're gonna complain?

Soundwave's voice was the best part of the movie, IMHO, which just goes to show how much it grated my nerves.

And what the hell did they do to Prime's voice? He sounded completely different and cheap to the first one.

I have no problem with Megatron's voice or appearance. It's how he was made to be subservient that I didn't like. As for Soundwave's voice, I thought this new version in the movie was good. It would have been extra cool to hear some slight synthesizing but it came out well, nonetheless. And I didn't mind that he stayed in orbit. But would have liked to see him do more things in outer space. Hopefully in the next movie we might get to see him come down to earth and fight a little.

the guy is right...
they should have made Soundwaves voice like the cartoon ...but more horrific

anyway insteed of arguing about his voice we should point out the matter of his involvement in the movie ...which in fact he did not have...they actually tricked us (the viewers - fans ). Where is soundwave..
he didn't even transform...why?
the only thing we saw was talking head...
the movie's greatest disspointment.. for me

I'm not seeing what people are complaining about regarding Soundwave. He fits his role perfectly as a spy, uses one of his minions, and is even voiced by his original voice-actor, Frank Welker, who, buy the way, used the exact same voice for Soundwave that he used in G1, only without it being over-edited.

I think they did the character right and would love to see more of him.
