American cheese is the worst.
"Real" cheese costs 3 times as much. Another reason I rarely eat cheese.
It started as an emulsified blend of colby and cheddar, and was originally more white in color. Today, it has essentially the same ingredients as cheese, but with more whey proteins and enzymes and other stuff. Because of the screwy ratio of ingredients, it cannot legally be sold as "Cheese". So no, it's not even real cheese.

Actually our own. My dad, for his boring faults, does smoke meats incredibly well.

I want to ask you to think around the issues of veterinary costs. My perspective, and I may be wrong, is that vets capitalize on peoples vulnerabilities, their emotional bonds with their pets. Like drug dealers they reap huge amounts of money from people who love their pets. I believe the reason we have so many discarded animals is the cost of vet fees. I think it is wrong and it is time animal lovers stood up against the extortion that is taking place right under our noses. Doctors do the same thing. Reason demands that we stand back and look at weather a pet is worth thousands of dollars. I know people who have spent that kind of money on a pet. Some people will go into debt to save a pet. That is extortion.

Read it in a Facebook local group I frequent. The conversation was about our local animal refuge which is currently closed down. I personally am incredibly disgusted and angry over it. Yeah, a vet bill can be expensive, but to me, if you love an animal, like you love another human being, you can't put a value on its life.

'cause you know, all those drugs, equipment, licenses, general business expenses and professional training comes cheap.

I agree with that. I also don't presume to know how everything works, (though these days all we need is Google) but I have an idea that being a vet is more like being a mechanic than being a doctor for people. It's like they have a set time and price they have to charge for each procedure they perform, regardless of how long and how much resources it takes. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but I think it's something along those lines.Burn wrote:I have no doubt there's some Doctors and specialists out there that do that, but when it comes to Vets, I believe the majority of them do what they do for genuine compassionate reasons.
