Transformers 2 Script Will Not Be Ready Before Writers' Strike

This whole situation seems to imply that there are a limited number of people capable of writing a script!

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

Nope.
Maybe we will gt a decent script written after the strike. If they had have tried to rush it through we would've gotten tripe.

How do you plan a strike? Easy.
"We demand an increase in pay and if we don't get it we'll strike from <insertdate>"
Bunch of saps? Strike is BS? No they're not and no it isn't. None of us know what a writer gets paid but considering how much money movies and tv shows are making these days I don't see why the writers (you know, the people who actually give the directors and actors something to work with) shouldn't be entitled to a bigger share of the profits.
Vry true Burn I support thease the writers 100 percent that and it gets some lazy directors thinking again. Also it would be a good time for late nigh talk shows like letterman to really do things the old fashion way. Also it would give the writers a chance to take a break from the movie script and make it better possabily then if they wrote it Strait though.

The writers are striking for very legitimate reasons. They are getting a fair share of profits on DVDs and internet streaming. Those deals were based on VHS profits... and now things have exploded.
I hardly think they are saps. They want what they are entitled to.
But it does make it a rough ride for those of us who like good TV shows and movies.
Meh, I'll just go read a book...

I was worried about them rushing out the sequel anyways, I'm thinking this'll get worked out soon.
I was too there is nothing worse than a porly planned rushed film. Esspally a sequal.

Apparently, if the news clip was wrong, this would mean that the nightly news writers were the first to bail on us..

It'll just be delayed ... they don't get more time to write it, in fact they'll either end up having to rush it to meet the original deadline or it'll just be set back the number of weeks the strike runs.
In film writting there is a curse called the tunnel vison. that i noticed some in the industry get from time to time. Tom Cruse for example. It's where you become so isolated from real people that you forget that you are doing it for Sally and Jimmy Housecoat in Petoria Illinos. What this could do is give the writers more of a chance to get to know the fans better by surfing around and doing some reserch also when I write a script I find it better to revise it after I haven't looked at it for a couple of weeks and did something else.

I suppose that makes sense. I wonder if the unions at strike are only those in the US? If so, why not give the project to writers from another country? Im sure the UK comic writers/script writers would like to give it a go.

Only if the people of the UK fund a high budget Red Dwarf movie and Promice to do something about the Heather and Paul McCartney divorce deal.

Im still holding out for a Red Dwarf movie. Did you know that the BBC turned a new series down? I think the writers/producers were holding out for a movie for so long that the BBC just got fed up waiting.
Im afriad nobody can do anything about the McCartneys, they are a lost cause. Maybe if people just stopped paying attention they will just fade away into nothingness.

Have you ever stopped to think about that the vast majority of those writers are nowhere near to getting millions of dollars and could probably really use the money they are entitled to, but don't get despite contracts in place.

And I'm sure the comapnies using those foreign writers would like to be stuck with using those writers for the forseeable future, because they wouldn't get union writers after the strike is over.

Yeah but if you're on strike are you going to want to do anything remotely connected to work that you're not going to get paid for?
Even if that includes sitting in front of your computer all day talking about some minor plot point like "What did Sam do with the lion that was on Bumblebee's dashboard?"
If I ain't getting paid, i'm gonna sit outside and enjoy the sun or something. Screw doing research for work!
