I'm still both very curious and very scared with what they will do with Nexus.

Nexus is one of my 3 favorites of the 13, with Onyx and Micronus being the other 2, and they nailed those 2 already.

What makes me nervous is he is the Prime of combination. TFCC did good with him back in the day, but obviously he needs the modern combiner form. But if he is only a voyager, what are they going to do? He can't work with the current combiner teams. And Amalgamous kinda stole the idea of splitting apart into multiple alt modes, so if they go that route it kinda neuters his uniqueness.

And frankly, if he doesn't combine in some fashion that is unique, they wouldn't have done him right. The COP design is cool, and it is said it can separate into individual bots, but if that design is a voyager, I can't see it being more than a 2nd Amalgamous.

To be fair, there's nothing to suggest Amalgamous' multiple forms have distinct personalities. For all we know, Nexus' individual componants will be described as having those, or at least will have their own transformations.

I saw a theory that Nexus requires you to buy more than one to get the most out of him like Reflector which would be pretty crazy to do.

I wonder if he'll be able to combine with other figures in a different way, like there might be a secret combiner form built into other Primes that we haven't seen or noticed yet.

Also, side note, now that we're getting Animated Ratchet in this line they really have to make an Animated Lockdown out of the Chase mold. This needs to be a thing!

Maybe he's just a retooled Onslaught, and you use Onslaught's frame to combine him with Brawl, Vortex, and 2 Aerial bots? Technically, there is no A-10 Thunderbolt for the left leg, if we are to adhere to the TimeLines representation, but we do have Aerialbots we could use. Not sure if the arm Aerialbota can connect to Onslaught's frame though.

If they do make Lockdown, he needs to be his own mold. Likely a Voyager to get his height and his spare parts in there, including Ratchet's EMP generator.

In all honestly, they could just re-release the original with better wrist articulation.

Found Razorclaw at a walmart, he is pretty neat, I like the mold and the new colors are nice.

Image

That same walmart was absolutely LOADED. There were 7 G2 Grimlocks (but no other leaders besides the 1 Razorclaw), 3 Red alert, 1 Alpha Trion, 1 Heatwave, 1 Sky byte, 11(!) Mixmaster, and 14(!!) Ironhide. The voyagers were also at the new $45 pricepoint, so it seems they are being rejected at the moment

Image

With the acquisition of Razorclaw, I was able to take a photo of a bunch of friends here at Seibertron (even if I am not in the photo, no good figure to use for myself)

Image

And finally, I discovered something about 3 of the Primes released to date, they work as an alternate Huntr/x

I toyhax'd Prima Prime, but I'm stuck at that faction symbol #37.

Where in the actual fox does this go? They stupidly zoomed in on the area and I just can't find it.

Pretty sure those are optional. I've scanned my Prima, looking for any detail that matches. Nothing. One video I looked at simply said they can be applied to any figure you'd like. They were still on the sheet.

Your best bet is to reach out to ToyHax.

Thought so that it was on a completely different figure. They could have noted this on the picture. >:oP

Couple of new guys from the line.

First up, I got Big Convoy! Base robot mode is a blast, but I think they managed to make the Big Cannon even more unwieldy than the original, makes it hard to play with the cannon. I like him a lot, just not as much as I would like to love him

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

I think Razorclaw may actually be better than Tigerhawk, which is sad considering Tigerhawk is one of my all time favorites

Image
Image

Wreck-gar is OK, but definitely weak, and I am glad I got him for $35 instead of $45

Image
Image
Image

Got Brawl for free. He is very solid, maybe the best hand feel of any figure this year so far. But he just doesn't feel complex or big enough for his pricepoint. I would probably have been disappointed paying $45 for him.

Image

I also got Sureshot for free. I am very happy with him, he is real nice to handle and a lot of fun to pose. My only real gripe is that his rear wheels feel like they are positioned too far back in alt mode

Image
Image
Image
Image

I have Quintus and Quickstrike, but still need to open them

Image

BUT. The real winner of AotP 2026 so far is beyond a doubt Amalgamous. This bot RULES. I never really got too into the modularity of the partsformers because my OCD wanted to keep them as close to spec as possible. Not here. Amalgamous being basically fluid means I have been enjoying doing whatever I want with them. There are so many things here to do, it is beyond a blast, it is great. I think they challenge Onyx and Micronus as my favorite Prime to date.

Also, given their fluid nature and all the different things you can do, I am headcanoning that Amalgamous is non-binary, seems fitting for someone who cannot keep a singular form.

Blastoff is pretty decent. He does what he needs to. Sadly his guns are very loose in his hands, and the blast effect pegs are so shallow as to be useless for holding up a blast effect. The thrusters though look great with 4 blast effects attached.

Been messing around some more with Big Convoy. The cannon is still a clunkier affair than I would like, but I am figuring out how to mess with him and make it work. He is a good toy

I also finally got Quintus Prime. Very odd, but the clear plastic is a cool look. I like him.

I really hoped that for Nexus Prime they were going to maybe retcon that the torso was the Prime and limbs were his acolytes or something, but I'm not shocked he's just his TF One design in Collectors Club colors. At least I do like that robot design.

Something's been bugging me about Nexus Prime. I look at him, especially the jet mode and am reminded of CW Sivlerbolt. Perhaps he interfaces with the CW deluxes?

Strange choice removing the Liege Maximo's horns from his head and making them a collar that sits behind his head.

And if anyone was ever wondering how we got from the original Fun Pub head design for Nexus Prime to the current one based on the TF One design, but which looks nothing like the original Fun Pub head design, this is how:

Reportedly, Nexus does still have a Combiner gimmick to him, but not in the way anyone was expecting or hoping:

Image

Image

Image

So it's either that he forms his own torso that the other combiner frame limbs can attach to, or that he forms a torso block that can slot into any of the combiner frames. It's not particularly clear which is the case, though.

I agree with Sabrblade about Liege Maximo's head design being strange, I'll need to see more to decide how I feel about it. I like the rest of the robot mode, and I like the alt mode a lot. I'm assuming that'll be the mold for the unicron Soldier? Maybe it'll just look like a small unicron?

Nexus Prime's robot mode looks awesome. That alt mode is pretty pathetic though. Curious to see what the combining will look like in action since the only combiner I'm getting is bruticus

A Look at Age of the Primes Liege Maximo and Nexus Prime

Posted by william-james88 Sun Feb 01, 2026 12:04 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Thanks to Nune, we finally have a good look at both Liege Maximo and Nexus Prime from Age of the Primes. Liege Maximo is indeed his G2 self but they removed the horns from his head and made them a collar that sits behind his head. He turns into an organic looking alien vessel (resembling a trilobite). He is a leader class figure.

Nexus Prime is based on the TFOne design with Fun Pub colors. While he looks very basic in both modes, it’s due to him supposedly being « compromised » in order to incorporate a combining gimmick. JTPrime17 stated he has a combiner head behind the cockpit that is not seen on the packaging. Enjoy.

Funny how I saw these pics over 24 hours ago, but it didn't register that L.M.'s horns had all been transferred behind his head until reading this post. While I'm still happier about him than any other O-13-er, I'm suddenly more interested than usual in any potential 3P upgrades. Sure the collar is probably to avert a head-clearance issue, but any Gaia Unicron retool should have just as big a headdress, right?

And now that I'm thinking 3P upgrades, this confusingly underwhelming Nexus has oh so many more possibilities! Giving him a whole gestalt team could indeed get hella-expensive, but compared to acquiring a spare Commander's frame? Heck, give us an unofficial frame with ports to attach CW deluxes, and watch every fan build their ideal Nexus until we've got a whole multiverse-worth!

We all knew that if Hasbro scaled back actual toy releases enough then third parties would fill even more voids, but AotP Nexus might just be begging for it like Classics Magnus raised to the nth power!

Or if that doesn't happen...I've still got my Club Nexus Maximus, Jack.

Liege Maximo would be compatible with Combiner Wars? And he looks like a voyager based on the packaging.

As for Nexus, he looks like a remake of Jhiaxus like Megatronus was a "remake" of Siege Megatron. :-?

Liege Maximo is not compatible with anything.

Nexus Prime is said to be compatible with the new frame combiners
