Those three would contradict each other though, Takara would be at odds with the ending to Sunbow and Marvel TF would need a lot of context. Plus given what I've read of RE-G1, I don't think any of them would hold up to modern scrutiny now. Not to mention the fact that a decent chunk of the original voice cast have passed away.
The Dreamwave stuff I have read, is low brow enough to approximate Sunbow/Takara/Marvel anyway. Beast Wars was self-contained, unless you want to see prequel stories or plots involving the Japanese BW cast. Furman's initial IDWverse would work very well as animated films. I mean he used everyone, right down to the Micromasters in Spotlight: Nightbeat and used them well.

DC animated films are not a tight continuity universe either (except for the new 52 set ones), they are mostly meant to be stand alone films, not directly connected to each other in any way. There have been animated films based on The New 52, elseworlds, video game continuities, live action films, DCAU etc.... It's a free-for-all more than anything else. Even with things like Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen, they altered the source material considerably.
I think the original Sunbow animated series has the most potential, because it's never been returned to, and was left open ended. But I included in all the others so as not to seem biased, a return to almost any continuity is good. Even *finished* stories such as Beast Wars can have new side stories, without having to be a prequel. franchises like Gundam do it all the time. - As for Dreamwave, IDW reprinted most of those stories, except obviously the ones that had no conclusion, so I wouldn't think anything is off the table. Furman's early IDW is dull as dishwater IMHO, but anything is possible if Hasbro were open to the idea, Things didn't really get good until All Hail Megatron, which, case in point, would make an awesome animated film.

As for using the main Beast Wars cast, we know how most of them end up. So other than follow on stories from the finale to Beast Machines (which would be a good idea) there isn't much else worth saying.

So, basically, you don't watch/enjoy any superhero films, because you've already read the comics, and know how everything turns out anyway..?

o.supreme wrote:So, basically, you don't watch/enjoy any superhero films, because you've already read the comics, and know how everything turns out anyway..?---It's not exclusively about creating new stories (though that can definitely be a selling point), but it's also about seeing the realization of stories from printed page into animation you might have always wanted to. I mean I read Infinity War 20+ years ago, and knew how the film was going to end..You are asking-.How do you market that? Would it make any money? ---
My thoughts are Beast Wars is something that should be left in tact and untainted, on a high note, as it is. It has a distinct beginning, middle and end. No other TF series really has that.
Yes, but due to the ridiculous "evergreen" nonsense of Takara and Hasbro, to retread Sunbow/Takara/Marvel is redundant because WE ARE STILL THERE

Indeed. Which is why this discussion is also still relevant to the thread. Basically how I see it, is a TF Sunbow, Takara and Marvel Comics film would be the equivalent of making three identical Batman films. With only a brief disclaimer at the beginning to say they are different.

Now logically, in the Real World, this would probably be a losing proposition for Hasbro, but...is there a single fan here who can honestly say they have zero interest in seeing such a thing if it were true (which to be sure...it isn't)...

I'm not sure I follow, because earlier you talked about how different Sunbow, Marvel Comics & Takara were....Still, there have been several Batman animated films released in the same year, WITHOUT any such disclaimer, but the fans understand, these are different takes on the same character.

No, no you misunderstood. I said it would be hard to make Sunbow, Marvel and Takara different to the layman because they mostly use the same casts, time period and settings.
That is where my example was leading. Take Batman '89.
Now release it three times, in the same year. One is the untouched original, one uses washed out visuals and the third with redubbed voice overs.
That would be what separate TF films based on the source material of those three would amount to and I don't think people would be as understanding, in that regard, as you might think.
As for Dark Glass, I personally wouldn't be interested. Rattrap and Dinobot were never favourites of mine and when it comes to that episode in particular, if it didn't need to be included in the initial run of the show, I wouldn't see the point in it retroactively.

I believe that is the Unicorn Gundam in it's hyper mode, though I cold be wrong, also I think that statue was featured in Pacific Rim Uprising...

Actually, the Unicorn Gundam Statue can convert between normal and super modes. It's really cool.
And I think that was the same Gundam in Pacific Rim 2, but I have to check to be sure. I am positive it is a Unicorn Gundam statue though
