Personally I would be willing to pay an additional $50 for a PREMIUM paint job, just see TT's Devastator just dripping in painted details, like a Behr store just sneezed on it
Not to dissapoint but he wont be. The SDCC version still has the most paint apps, TT is just trying to be as G1 as possible. There are better paint apps sure, but he isn't drenching in them:
I know what he will look like; I was actually hearkening back to the first movie and the "premium" sub-line where everyone got a spiffy new or better paint job. It wouldn't sell well if the general retail version was $200+ just for paint apps, but if they released a pseudo-masterpiece version or a 'premium' version with a lot of painted details, I think it would sell really well to collectors.
As for being 'G1 accurate' that's just a sleazy cop-out to leave most of the figure unpainted. Nostalgia wasn't stopping them from painting additional vents or pipes in silver or black. There's nothing keeping them from applying a little more paint to, say, the hydralics on Scrapper's lower legs, or Devs' thighs. Few G1 fans would decry it for 'not being G1 accurate' if they applied those, or others.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.
