If this had the UW improvements I could understand it more- quite frankly, the stock Hasbro version is IMO inexcusably bad between its structural deficiencies and lack of elbows on Scrapper and Long Haul. And even UW can't solve the general cheap look, wonky proportions (Devastator ends up with Sailor Moon legs) and the fact he's just too damn big. Personally I think we really, REALLY need a new official Devastator seeing as the only CHUG options from 3Ps are the oldest complete 3P combiners on the market and all other offerings are MP scaled. I love my Maketoys Giant but I feel HasTak could make an amazing Devastator if they released the individually and with WFC trilogy levels of budget and engineering.

Good news! You're going to die with all of your organs intact (or at least you wont be selling any for MP Devi). The CW figure was intended to be an MP until HasTak decided they didn't want to do an MP combiner and dumbed it down for CW (and then reinstated a bunch of parts for the far superior Japanese Unite Warriors line. Yes, there's supposed to be an MP Raiden coming, but that's likely a one-off since Japan LOVES trains in ways the rest of the world doesn't understand.

Raiden, you say?
I may need to borrow some of mentre83's internal organs.
Emerje answers that question when he first brings up Raiden in the post of his you quoted.Nemesis Destron wrote:Brokebot wrote:Emerje wrote:mentre83 wrote:I'm saving my internal organs for the Masterpiece version.

Hey while on that subject of Raiden there was some kind of news a while back of a Re-release of the Takara figure or a modern version?

I mean sure, if you're displaying them individually that would be different, but once again, people getting all ragey over nothing.

I think it's just the knee-jerk "we must praise Takara and bash Hasbro at any opportunity" reflex this fandom has had for as long as I can remember. Any difference at all is proof that Hasbro is the literal devil and anyone who'll settle for the Hasbro releases is not a true fan and/or is flat out braindead. I honestly got sick of hearing it to the point where it got hard to be a part of any conversation in the fandom.
I have the CW version, and I really don't see what's so horribly wrong with it.
SpikeyTigertron wrote:I think the main issue a lot of folks, me included, had with the Hasbro version was the fact that it seemed "stripped down" compared to the Takara. Now... it's possible that the Hasbro one was "the first pass" and Takara decided, "we can do better". But it really seems like Takara had been much further along, and then for some reason Hasbro cut corners.
Keep in mind we were in the middle of an entire product line that had maybe... five unique transformation schemes to the vehicles. MANY used if not the exact same design nods and were just re-shelled if not just head and paint swaps.
So when Takara came blasting out of the gate the same day (week?) has Hasbro with an arguably better product.... it just was bad move...
As far as the Titan scale. It feels the appropriate size, for MPs (blends right in with Grapple) in robot mode, however, the gestalt mode feels appropriately scaled for War for Cybertron (in my mind). As a side note, keep in mind that the average Combiner War character is currently out of scale with the War for Cybertron Trilogy (though it kind of works in the Dinobots favor at least).
Part of me wishes all the Combiner War combiners were Devastator sized, but that would the robot modes really out of scale (maybe as super cheap MPs?)

A "small" update from Hasbro, just days after we broke the news...the reissue Combiner Wars Devastator has been delayed to January (everywhere, not just Australia, so it isn't just us this time).
