The Evolutions 2-Pack Classics Prime is great for G1 toy accuracy, but if what you're looking for is G1 cartoon character model accuracy, Cloud Optimus Prime is the best bet.

I had the Cloud version on preorder for a while, but when I saw the deco of the Evolutions one, I decided that's the Classics Optimus Prime for me. Just didn't like the white legs all that much - sure it's cartoon accurate, but looked "odd" in my mind. Plus I like the shiny chrome of the Evolutions version, much more like the original G1 toy.

I do agree with this. At the end of the day I'm sure this was just "Hey it'd be cool to make a little Hot Rod", not "Boy we should really do a super obscure Return of Convoy homage piece". What I intended in the quoted post was to say, hey, I don't like that logical connection because not everything has to be a nod to something else, but I won't reject the premise outright either

Well, in a way, it works out with how Battle Core OP's new head is a homage to Star Convoy, who could store Micromaster Hot Rodimus inside his chest, and now Legends Rodimus attaches to Optimus Maximus's chest.

I can totally see that too and it makes sense. But I dont think the use of rodimus is too random since the two did share the same base mold in G1. That's pretty much what I was trying to get at. Because or else it would be too big a coincidence, to me.

This. I love the G1 design's as much as the next guy, but sometimes I'd like to see an Optimus that isn't a truck, Cybertronian, futuristic, or retro. Or a Megatron that isn't a tank/gun/Cybertronian air vehicle.

How about an Optimus that turns into a gun?

Different can be fun... but a Rodimus without flames on his chest just doesn't look like Rodimus to me. Literally every other Rodimus has at least the impression of chest flames, including the Micromaster. Legends Rodimus is just a generic red car-bot.

And a Megatron that turns into a truck?

To be honest, I liked both of those ideas, that's why, out of the otherwise lackluster botcon set this year, the only one I really wanted was the Megatron.

actually, considering I would have had to import both, the Evolutions set actually turned out to be a little more expensive for me, and I already had a "better" version of the Evasion Mode Prime....

They could make an and a version; but I feel it was the figure that finally realized the ethos of the line. I always liked the 2 variations within the figure itself, and it would really fit in with this line, and would give everyone the spare limbs they've been looking for for their spare torso's (here's hoping)

Hasn't the only leader they've shown been Skywarp? I know TakTomy hates partsforming now but I wonder if they would consider it partsforming if the only thing it broke up for was to become limbs and to go from robot to vehicle mode didn't have to break up? And if they did make Wing Saber they could make it into a (huge) Scourge

I just stuck mirage and dragstrip on cyclonus as legs, and the pseudo-ankle is ridiculous on them. just make the shoulder and unpeg the legs from the knee section and tilt it to one side and you get a really solid ankle.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Kup from CW, but again, without trying to offend fans of the characters, Ironhide and Kup just never really floated my boat. I'd like to see some repaints of Breakdown/Sunstreaker into the other Lambo bros.

Agreed. I would like a "G1" Sideswipe and Red Alert, especially since Red was a Lost Lighter

I don't care if they aren't beast combiners; make them up, or draft them from canon - I don't care - just give us more decepticons (and don't say tfss 4 - those are expensive exclusives - I mean retail releases)

Just out of curiosity....are there 2 Prowls coming out? I only ask coz I was watching Peaugh review of Deluxe Prowl & he was mentioning something about a large swat style vehicle that's also Prowl in the CW comics I believe! so could we also see a Voyager Class Prowl come out too?

Prowl is a big SUV in the comics right now, but there are no planned toys of him in that body that we know of.
