Check the video above. It's formed from his gun and shoulder rocket launchers.
(Yes, hammering your enemies with a hammer made from rockets. Because that's how Magnus deals with things)
That Bot wrote:Sabrblade wrote:What with those shoulders?
Seems to be twofold:
The shoulders are pushed down to fit him in the box
AND
Hasbro stock photographers can't transform the toys well
EDIT: Okay I read his publicity blurb on BBTS and it's kind of funnyCourage is Stronger When Combined!
Who is he combining with, Minimus Ambus? I don't know if him sitting inside, having no visible impact on the outward appearance and function of the toy, qualifies as "combining."The TRANSFORMERS Generations Leader class Ultra Magnus is rendered in incredible detail and with impressive conversions.
INCREDIBLE DETAIL!
IMPRESSIVE CONVERSIONS! (that are more or less the same as all Ultra Magnus toys of this style.)This large, feature-packed LEADER scale action figure features a firing projectile, massive weaponry and working vehicle features.
Hype to English translation: "working vehicle features"=rolling wheels and a turning cabFigure converts in 15 or more steps and includes a Collector Card.
15 or more? Why can't you just say how many steps it converts in?
I dunno, I just love marketing speak. Every little detail is the COOLEST EVER and you're a LOSER if you don't have this toy. It amuses me. I'm not saying he isn't an awesome toy, but the blurb kind of oversells him.

You're forgetting that, as far as has been seen, does he even have a firing projectile?
Also, who thought the 1/144 scale ladders made sense? It's a truck, not the Bagger 288

The last G1 Ultra Magnus toy that turned from car carrier into red, white, and blue robot (other than the Masterpiece) was the 6" Titanium figure from 2007. That figure was a floppy mess, and the Masterpiece is in a different league of price, intricacy, and aesthetics. There have been a few White Optimus Primes but this is the first time there has been a proper Classics-style Ultra Magnus.

What else is Hasbro supposed to do for the Combiner Wars line? All of their inspiration is coming from the IDW comics. What do you want them do, make Safeguard from Animated?
The fact that the Legends class and Leader class figures aren't all combiners (or at all, in the the case of the Leaders) means that they're already doing a line that isn't entirely dedicated to combiners and is partially open to doing more updated classics figures.MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:Not do an entire line dedicated to combiners. Not in the case of Ultra Magnus and a few others. That design used for the Leader Ultra Magnus toy was created by Alex Milne for the comics back in 2012.MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:IDW is more than likely taking Hasbro's concepts and using them, not the other way around.

I didn't say G1 Magnus... I said Magnus in general who is a G1 character. And exactly, there's the Masterpiece version, so I'm not sure why this was needed. Utter waste... that leader slot could have been given to somebody else who really could have used the update, like Fortress Maximus or something. Would have rather had that than another MagnusOptimalOptimus2 wrote:MartianSpyGirl1996 wrote:Another Magnus? The excessive reuse of G1 characters is really getting ridiculously out of control, now...

Not do an entire line dedicated to combiners. Do a subline and keep Generations partially open to doing more updated classics figures. Also, Magnus never use to be a combiner, so they could do any character and turn it into a combiner. IDW is more than likely taking Hasbro's concepts and using them, not the other way around.
And my choice for combiners? Magnaboss, Tripredicus, Ruination, Landfill, Piranacon, and Predaking.
