Meanwhile the poorly painted Optimus Prime that could have used a ton more paint in his arms and fists is being left unchanged.

Neither did a lot of characters that Takara released previously like Straxus, Thunderwing, Drift, Whirl, Roadbuster, the Mini-Con Assault Team, Windblade, Topspin, and Twin Twist (the latter two soon to be released).Emerje wrote:Because Dreadwind and Darkwing don't exist in Japan
Why couldn't the rest just come later? It's not like Takara strictly adheres to the same wave and size class assortments that Hasbro does.Emerje wrote:and "Blackwing" isn't part of their first wave, and they appear to be saving the Dinobots as mentioned by Will in the article. Nothing about what Takara Tomy said indicates that absolutely all PotP figures will be sold under that banner. It's hard to believe they'd only have one Deluxe and no Voyagers in their wave 1 if they weren't planning something else for the missing figures.

The idea of Takara versions being for collectors, over the Hasbro versions, never had any bearings. And this unification is perfect proof of that.

I always feel like I should write an editorial about this because it keeps confusing me. Takara has stated at every given opportunity that their target audience is kids, which makes sense since we are talking about toys and Takara Tomy is a company that predominantly makes toys for kids. Their paint apps only reflect what the designers want to be passed on to the new generation. And Hasbro does the exact same thing but in a different perspective.
Why would a toy being so slavish to G1 toy accuracy, like CW Vortex, be any more or less desireable to 30 year old collectors than a toy being so slavish to the G1 show accuracy, like UW Vortex.

The idea of Takara versions being for collectors, over the Hasbro versions, never had any bearings. And this unification is perfect proof of that (along with the fact that they dont even have an english language option on their site to give toy info to international collectors)DMSL wrote: In this case i would only welcome this unification if it means Hasbro and Takara are releasing the superior versions. We already know that wont be the case since Takara revealed that their leaders will also have stickers, just like the Hasbro versions.kurthy wrote:I'm guessing Takara ran the numbers and found the U.S. collectors market isn't big enough to account for the savings in running the exact same toy as Hasbro.
Honestly, if Takara ever cared about anyone outside Japan wanting their toys, they would at least have made their site have an english language option. The truth is they were always focused on just their market when it came to selling. A significant part of Takara's revenue instead, when it comes to Transformers, is Hasbro outsourcing engineering to them since day 1. They also own the toys/molds, hence why every toy is manufactured under license from Takara Tomy.
Figure King No. 239 Transformers
This month's Figure King of Transformers covering the Power of the Primes series will kick off in Japan in coming May. Overseas fans may be disappointed as this series will be the exactly the same to the US version. Will Takaratomy consider another way to make their own Transformers or just "import" the US version instead in the future? That is nothing for sure right now.

Been playing with them today and trying to see if there is any logic to the PM and decoy pairings. I can't find any, but in the process I noticed (and this may be old news) that the wave 2 Decoys are retools of wave 1.
Landmine from Metal Hawk - uses quite a few of the same tooling - knees down is the same, same arms, same gun. The PM's look the same.
Submaruder from Skullgrin - seems to use the same back half of the shell with some retooling. The weapons appears to attach the same way on the back.

Haven't found the one on Grimlock. Then again I can't remember where I stuffed his instructions.
