Because it would be like going to Martin Luthor King Jr's home and dressing that up as the HQ of the KKK for a film. There's being oversensitive, and then there's respecting history. Any other castle or mansion and I wouldn't care.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing a hissy fit over this. I just think this is the one building in the UK that shouldn't be done up like Nazi HQ.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

I wasn't there for either of those events so they have no effect on me so I don't care and really were any of you people friends with Churchill?
If not why do you care it doesn't effect your everyday life?
It's a movie it's not like Bay is a Nazi himself or trying to destroy the place he just dressed a building up to be like another building for a movie.
And you guys do know that Bay is allowed to film there with permission and all so obviously the owners of the building agreed to it so it's as much as their fault as it is Bay's

But it makes PERFECT sense for an alternate reality created by time travel shenanigans.
Seems likely that they did it for the same reason an artist sat down and did this. It's supposed to frighten and anger you. If you're offended by the idea of Nazi flags hanging from the eves of a national treasure, raise a glass to Churchill and his fellows for preventing that from transpiring in reality.Kurona wrote:Stuartmaximus wrote:Sooo! could we be getting a Hearts Of Steel style Seeker then
But... but that's a tank...
And WWII would be several decades after Hearts of Steel...
Erm....it's a WWI tank! not II
Kurona wrote:What you're suggesting is to completely disregard the past and not care about it simply because you weren't personally involved it. If you want to go that way, fine; but I can tell you without a doubt that's a rather specific philosophy that many of us do not subscribe to. I respect the contributions of the people of the past despite not knowing them personally, and hence I wish to respect them as people as well. So please don't dismiss it as if it shouldn't matter to me. That's utterly ridiculous.

And everything they all did in the past was for nothing because we are still making these stupid mistakes all the time because of stupid reasons.
So really the past means nothing it's all about the future.

Kurona wrote:I really don't want to continue the conversation past this, but just so I'm absolutely clear: you're saying everything in the past was for nothing and worthless, within the context that the specific example we are talking about was the prevention of the Nazis successfully taking over the world and enforcing their dictatorship upon us all.
I'm just checking; you do know this, right? Not even in connection to any prior argument; just checking because I'm a little concerned. You're saying that stopping that didn't matter?

Well, given that the Nazi's didn't sieze control of Germany until 1933, I figured this happened closer to WWII than WWI. I also figured that the MkVIII tanks were still in service by the beginning of WWII, but it does look like they were all retired by 1932.
Either way, decades after Hearts of Steel took place.

Fair enough. My apologies. I get wanting to protect something you love, but ya gotta admit, the Bayverse ain't helped itself.
I love the first film. Second is alright. Third I started getting fatigued though I love Nimoy's return to the fold as Sentinel Prime. That frickin' voice! Fourth, I had high hopes for but it was too long, too meandering and the Dinobots were utterly wasted. It's only real redeeming features were Frank Welker as Mega....Galvatron and John Goodman because I love John Goodman.
*Edit*
And Drift's surprise that the Dinos didn't transform into giant cars.
