So brainstorm is an sdcc exclusive? That's a Lil weird but they might of done it that way to encourage sales of the set. of course we may see him released in a different deco as part of next year's may mayhem.
I also like what they've said about titanmasters referencing all the past masters (though to be fair, the original headmasters rode in their vehicles before action masters ) but no love for brainmasters?

Brainstorm is only an sdcc exclusive? That is really sad.

Wouldn't surprise me if the current Hasbro team didn't even know what Brainmasters were.

I think its more likely he gets rereleased as a Platinum set. It happened so far with the previous SDCC sets like Bruticus and the G1 Dinos which were SDCC exclusives one year and then slightly altered Platinum released the year after. Speaking of platinums...
Kurona wrote:Yeah but SDCC sets are subject to the same pricing as Platinum sets, right?
Depends. The initial pricing might be similar BUT Platinums are retail released and subject to the same discounts other retail stores may have. I got the G1 dinos for 75$ USD for instance since it was on sale on Black Friday. An SDCC set sold on HTS might have less chances of being this discounted. Plus, Platinum editions are not regionally exclusive. The only way to get Brainstorm this year is either to go buy him at SDCC, get him off e-bay from a reseller, or hope there are lefotvers that sell on hasbrtotoyshop.com. But that site is a us site and while they ship internationally, the shipping fee is pretty nuts for anyone living outside the US. Platinum sets are available at TRUs and other stores across the world and are much much easier to find. You can also get them on e-bay from hong kong for the same price you'd find them at retail locally.

I'm just gonna cross my fingers really goddamn hard for a Takara release then.

All the bodies look far better in shape and articulation even if they are smaller (which makes sense for the scale of the line for the most part) but damn, the old Headmaster mini-figures just looked a billion times better than the tiny lil under-defined blobby titan masters.
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool!
Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot) Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron
Someone on TFW did a really interesting comparison between highbrow and scourge to show the parts they share. This obviously doesnt make them retools as their transformation is totally different but it does show that Hasbro is finding a way of reusing resources without making everything the same mold, which I think is great and I have no problem with.

I would have considered Brainstorm if he had been released at retail with a mostly unaltered deco. Oh well I have the voyager from a few years ago and he serves his purpose quite well.
That is some keen eyes those guys have to spot them. I also have no issue with parts being shared like this as it's the whole that counts.
On brainstorm, would they release the three of them as is (sentinel, brainy and windblade) or maybe a autobot headmaster set with his brethren. I have no complaints either way as I'll keep my eyes peeled for the takara version.
Prowl4 you said you had a problem with hasbro doing retail releases of takara stuff but what about the reverse situation where takara releases stuff that were hasbro exclusive (well north American convention exclusives)
You can tell that half the world is already experiencing Titans Return. Not only is the first wave out, but we now have reviews for the second wave deluxes Chrome Dome and Highbrow. We had a bunch of in hand images yesterday and today we get Chinese videos showcasing their transformation and features.
Another Titans Return related tidbit that warrants mentioning is the exclusivity of Titans Return Brainstorm. While we knew it was coming first as part of a SDCC exclusive set, there was an assumption that he would also get an individual release. However, an older interview with Hasbro surfaced on our boards with them saying that this Blurr retool was currently only planned to be available in this exclusive box set and would not be sold individually. While this wasn't known for certain, this shouldn't be such a big surprise since none of the rumours and confirmed Titans Return waves for 2017 include Brainstorm as a solo release.

You do know that means he wont have a faceplate right?
Then I'll just have to get Voyager Brainstorm and balance his head really carefully on him.
Or, now bear with me here, buy voyager brainstorm since it's an amazing figure, and is probably a bit better than the titans return one.
Though this revelation about brainstorm does make me think a bit more about my hypothesis the Blurr mold we be used similar to CW silverbolt with the base mold release (blurr), a slight retool (Brainstorm), and an extensive purple retool (Nautica).

Oh no, I totally get you there. Nothing against Voyager Brainstorm. ... just that there's a bit of a problem in that I want him to scale with the other headmasters. The Voyager's way too big.
