Ya know Will, I'm flirting with the idea of getting both sets and selling off the figures I don't want. That really changes the math a lot. Like for the Chaos set, I really only wanted the clone and to a lesser degree Rodimus. I ended up selling everything else for a price that basically got me the clone for free. I may end up selling the poster inside and the Rodimus headmaster to turn a small profit.

The only problem is I'm not sure how much the other figures in the Siege set would fetch. Magnus would fetch a pretty penny, and I could see getting back $70 after fees and shipping. I imagine I can at a minimum break even or turn a small profit by selling everything else minus Pouch. Any profit would offset the price of the God Ginrai set. If I could get the God Ginrai set with Pouch all in for about $150, that's pretty tempting.

I was getting the box sets for the Leaders, and since there are no more, then I guess that's a slight relief to my wallet. If my son wants the Walgreens set to complete they clones I *may* get it, but its not a high priority, not so much as now I have to find a quite pricey God Bomber from Takara

Well then how about CW Ratchet and Starscream? The head designs were shown by Hasbro so we know they designed them. But both of those were instead released as exclusives in different markets and never in the mainline.

So, they made wave 5 with 3 deluxes and the only wave 6 guy is a deluxe. Wow.

and Slugslinger is it? That is horribly depressing, but at least it gets my wallet ready for PotP and gives me a break after a summer/fall heavy of figures

That's an excellent question. The idea we have in Power of the Primes line is that they evolve up so he would have been a good fit. But in the year Titans Return we wanted to make sure we had a big version of Optimus Prime and there's only so many big cool versions of the character so as we were looking at the Titans Return ecosystem we weren't even thinking of that evolution system yet which only came to real form a year ago and by that time Power Master Prime was already finished.

God Bomber, there are no plans for God Bomber to come to the US at this time. All that is planned is that Magnus Prime in the Seige of Cybertron set.

I really wish the cab on Magnus Prime was white.

Saw an unofficial base mode for Blitzwing and Megatron. Thought they were pretty cool, so I tried it with mine.

I like that base mode for Blitzwing and Megatron.

I've been thinking about why we didn't get the Horrorcons. People have wailed and railed repeatedly about us not getting them in a subline full of triple-changing Headmaster Voyagers...
But I think I can see why: Mental block and/or design concerns caused by their unique gimmick of triple-changing Headmaster partners.
Titan Masters are smaller than the original Headmaster partner figures, resulting in normal Deluxe-size heads (with masks and helmets and such bulking things up on the larger size classes as needed), which is fine for most characters.
But that small size would be a liability with Spasma and Krunk. Replicating their designs at Titan Master size would result in dinky beast mode heads, and in Snapdragon's case a rather small robot face as well. So what do you do? Sacrifice the Horrorcon gimmick and have the beast mode heads be separate? Somehow come up with booster masks for either mode's head that still fit within the constraints of Titans Return Voyagers? Scale them down to Deluxe so that the head size is less of an issue?

Well, what they could have done is have the Beast head be similar to the "vehicles" in the Titan Master size class. The Beast head transforms from Head to weapon/shield/vehicle. Not saying this is how they would have done it, but it makes the most sense to me.

Now, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but what if Apeface and Snapdragon are what finish off Intelligence and Firepower from the previous 2 boxsets. Warden said something will finish it off, IIRC. What if they are somehow part of that? Otherwise, I guess there is always 2019 lol.

^Pretty sure what *finishes* TR "Box Sets" is the Clone Walgreens Box set. Whatever fashion Arcee and Ultra-Magnus are released (if it does happen...) is pretty much the only mystery at this point, sad to say.

I think it would have been a neat idea to release Snapdragon and Apeface with two heads each -- one robot mode head, one beast mode head. Not only would this solve the issue of not needing to pack two heads into one Titan Master, but it would mean a single toy would finally be able to have a Titan Master as a head while another Titan Master mans their turrets without needing to buy another toy.

A TM for each head might allow for Snapdragon to have a better-sized face but it would still result in kinda dinky beast mode heads if they were Voyagers. And it might not have been feasible under Hasbro design strictures outside of a boxset. And it would be sacrificing their triple-changing head gimmick, which is a call the designers might be hesitant to make.
An accessory that made up the difference in head mass might have been workable, though at the cost of not being usable in certain modes.

At any rate, faced with that dilemma, it's quite possible the designers got hung up on trying to decide on a solution and/or may have decided to put the Horrorcons off til the gimmick changed and they could get away with larger Headmaster partner figures.

Another factor may be lack/perceived lack of characters the Horrorcons could be mold-mated with (Each other? Shoehorning Grimlock into being a triple-changer for Snapdragon? Optimal Optimus for Apeface?). The only Titans Return Voyager who isn't mold-mated with anyone is Galvatron, and if there was only room for one standalone, well...

The could have gone the Leader route with Apeface and Snapdragon and give them helmets. Leader Horrorcons would be freaking awesome. As for remoldings/repaintings, Apeface could definitely be remade into Optimal Optimus. As for Snapdragon... How about a TF Prime Predaking or Cybertron Scourge hommages?

Other than rereleasing popular figures it seems a bit senseless. It sounds like they originally planned slugslinger to be in wave 5 (since most waves are 4 deluxes and wave 5 only had 3 new ones).

I agree with another poster. It sounds like we got multiple items cut last minute (in development time, not our perceived time) due to something happening. What got cancelled in lieu of what other thing?

I dont think it means anything was cancelled, they plotted what was coming out in the mainline for a while. It was the retailer exclusives which got changed around.

And the idea of only having one new toy in a wave is something they are trying now and will repeat in the next line, as can be seen from the leaks of today, where POTP wave 4 will only have 1 new deluxe.

I must admit, I am a little more open to the idea of an 'empty' wave as such now. It seems bad at first because less toys -- and especially in this situation, where along with other information it seemed to indicate things got cancelled. But sitting back and thinking about it it seems good all around -- less toys means we get quality over quantity and less need for mold re-use, it means our wallets get a bit of a break, and it means much more re-issues come out in that wave meaning if you missed a popular product before you could potentially have a better chance to catch up now.

I really like this, actually. Yeah. Let's go!

Its also worth noting that this whole idea of always having 4 deluxes per wave only started with CW. Right up until then it alternated and ther was no steadfast rule. Here are the generations figures starting when Generations became close to what it is today (and closely linked with IDW designs).

When he said Slugslinger was the only new figure in wave 6 he was talking about just Deluxe, right? If not then what happened to Titan Master Optimus Primal (formerly Optimus Prime from leak lists) and Toraizer? They were expected to be wave six since they didn't show up in wave 5. They were even accidentally listed on Amazon earlier this month so they seem like a sure thing.

Whatever happens to wave 6 I just hope they give Clobber a second run. I'll never understand why they chose Overboard over him in Wave 5. Sure is comforting knowing Hasbro is listening to the fans and reading the forums. "A lot of fans missed out on Clobber because their stores only got the revision wave without him? A fan-favorite character is hard to find and the fans are angry? Nah, let's release Nightbeat three times instead."

Since I got him, might as well add my thoughts on...

Sentinel Prime: Really, really cool figure. Very good triple changer - though imo not on the level of Megatron - with some cool accessories, a hugely intimidating Titan Master and a colour scheme that actually works quite well. I know some have a problem with his vehicle modes, but I love them -- the train mode is a bit thin and could use some extra bulk but it still works very well, and that spaceship mode? I've caught myself swooshing it and Megatron's jet mode around with each other in a firefight multiple times now. These are the only two Voyagers I've got for this line so far but if they're any indication of the others, I'm gonna have an awesome time when I get Laser Prime
