I agree and I have no problems with straight repaints or minor retools to make new characters, I'm just trying (and failing) to save some dough.william-james88 wrote:carytheone wrote:I'm trying to stick to just one version of a mold for TR, but I'll pick up both HB and TH if they every show their mugs in these parts.
I dont think that wuld be breaking your rule in any way. Just like picking up both Alpha trion and Broadside wouldnt be breaking your rule. The molds are different but some parts are reused. At this point, I dont see much difference between reusing a foot/hand or reusing a wheel. If the transformation/robot mode/alt mode are all different from eachother, then its a different toy to me.

Nothin's gonna stand in our way. Not tonight!

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.
SureShot18 wrote:Triggerhappy is still super cool. Getaway not so much. Wave 3 has the most figures I want so far and Wave 4 is looking pretty good too.
carytheone wrote:I'm right there with you. I though TH was a retool of HB, but I can barely see it. I pulled up HB's gallery and really only the arms look the same and they are heavily retooled - that is some serious black magic they are pulling over there.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:I really am looking forward to Triggerhappy. I am loving the whole wave so far save Getaway and will be getting so many of these guys. Plus, I think we can all agree Triggerhappy is not a retool of Highbrow. I don't think he can be. The arms are the only thing that look similar
And it seems they ran out of it with Getaway/Breakaway; what is its official name anyaway?I really like the IDW character until I didn't, but I still wouldn't mind a good toy of him. This is just too boring to justify another trip down that mold's tired, redeco'd, retooled, heavily worn road. Maybe if the deco would have been spectacular, just maybe

His head doesn't connect very well to the body at all. No matter which way you face the Titan Master head in the neck port on the body, it doesn't hold securely at all. Highbrow has an extreme bobble head. The slightest touch, and the head pops back out of the socket. Does anyone else's Highbrow have this problem, or did I get a lemon?
Highbrow is a retool of Scourge, who also has this problem. So I don't think you have a lemon, you have what we have. There is an easy fix though.
Interesting. I've got three Hasbro Scourges and one Takara Scourge. The Takara one is fine. One of the Hasbro ones is fine, one is a little loose, and the remaining one is a bit looser still, but none are as bad as this Highbrow. Would you point me towards the fix?
I can't remember where exactly, but it involves cutting a old credit card (or something like it: gift card, old debit card, etc.) and sticking it into the sides on the outside of the headmaster slot. Also, I see you went the way of three hasbro Sweeps and Takara Scourge. Good call.
Thanks for the tip. I've got an idea of what the problem is now, so I might be able to improvise something a little different if the trick you mentioned doesn't work. Right now, I'm also using Takara's Unite Warriors Cyclonus with a couple of Hasbro Combiner Wars Cyclonuses as his "Armada." They all look great together with Hasbro's Titans Return Galvatron (who is borrowing the Head Master, hip pieces, and cannon from Takara's Transformers Legends Galvatron).Sabrblade wrote:All these comments about Breakaway being plain-looking... Not sure what ya'll were expecting with Hasbro trying to pay homage to a guy whose classic look has always had a rather plain-looking deco from the get-go:
Even in Japan did Getaway's counterpart Lightfoot look even more plain with his windows no longer red, and his faceplate the same gray as his helmet, in the cartoon:
The problem with Hasbro's Titan's Return Getaway is that he needs a bit more paint. He's a rather lazy effort for a straight up repaint (not retool) of Chromedome with a different Titan Master face. If they had added some red paint to the shins and some blue paint to the arms, Getaway would look much better in robot mode.
Kurona wrote:I think the thing that really gets me about this is that by 1988 the carformer concept had been exhausted. There were a thousand ways to do it, the first two years had done most of them, then you had Chromedome and Hot Rod and Punch who were still doing it after 1985...
... and yet Getaway still found a way to look unique and stand out from the other cars
But nope, that's all taken away here.

I'd like to know if it's USA Target's old leftover or European stock though.

Is the British version of TJ Maxx really called TK Maxx?
Does Lio Convoy come with a new head? I can't tell from the comparison pics
Is it just me, or does Triggerhappy look to be a retool of Highbrow? Same hands, guns, and heels. The thing on Highbrows chest is where the cockpit on Trigger happy is if you turn the chest around. I know this sounds crazy but Hasbro has done stuff like this before.

It's the new-fangled "parts sharing but not the same exact parts but very familiar" way of doing things, and I love it! Hasbro is finally kitbashing and not just repainting!!D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Cary and I discussed this last part some.
