Nemesis Primal wrote:Stuartmaximus wrote:oh....& is there something wrong with the past? coz if it wasn't for the past...we wouldn't HAVE transformers today
You don't know that. If it hadn't happened in '84, that doesn't mean it couldn't have happened between then and now, or just happen now. Until there's actually a way to see into alternate timelines, your claim is little more than hyperbole.
Also, the Transformers franchise would have been scrapped without Beast Wars revitalizing it, but twenty years later there's still people ready to get on your case if you show signs of even tolerating it.
But FYI, he's not saying there's something wrong wit the past. He's saying it's just that: the past. Things aren't the way they used to be because they can't be that way anymore.
It's always fascinated me that this of all fandoms should cope so poorly with change.

Hey IDW, how ya gonna retcon all this?

I'll give an amen to that! Its the one thing I've always thought of whenever a new style is introduced like with the introduction of Animated or the current Robots in Disguise series.

Wolfman Jake wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Your pics agree with what I said. The wings are on the bottom of those shuttles' bodies. Astrotrain's wings, however, are on the top of his shuttle's body.
Yeah, it's definitely a design compromise. Real world wings would be seated near the bottom of the shuttle fuselage, not the top. I think the way the toy is designed, however, hides the massive kibble beneath the elevated wings. If the wings were lower, they'd be obscured almost entirely by the robot armature and other kibble, making them look rather infeasible as working, aerodynamic wings. Putting all the junk on the bottom isn't a real world solution, obviously, but it helps Astrotrain at least look the part a little more convincingly, IMO.

ah.....yes.....that there wouldn't hardly BE any repaints in this line.

You know what helps, quoting people. Show me the quote that says that and then we can talk like grown ups.

Well aso with the exception of the microchange line. Which means the first 2 years of Transformers are all redecos of previous toys. Even Omega Supreme is a redeco of a pre-existing toy. So is Shockwave. The seekers are the worse. Here is the original toy (on the right):
So they took that toy and turned him into Starscream and then they redeco'd that into more seekers:
And then they made 3 new seekers that had new molds for the wings, the coneheads. So the coneheads are 3 retools or redecos of an unoriginal toy. This is less original than anything that Hasbro ever did since then. If you have any evidence that would prove that any period in Transformers history is less original than this G1 example I just presented, then please present it.
The truth is that Hasbro has ALWAYS been about releasing the most toys possible for the least amount of cost. The initial G2 line is only redecos of G1 for crying out loud, why are we still having this discussion.
PS: Now to debunk two other myths, there is no G1 toy that is completely diecast, and Takara principaly makes toys for kids and not collectors.

I still find it stupid when people write stuff like this, especially when they don't seem to know what a bird looks like.

I'm pretty sure now you are deliberately misreading what people are putting as it looks like will meant to write also instead of aso. Relax stu, not everyone is out to get you and things on the Internet are not as harsh as they appear.
I tried my best to make sure they were sensible redecos and repaints that were character focused and made sense appropriate within the Transformers universe. For "Titans Return" we are going to try our best to keep as many new or partially new retools as we can because we're actually entering a different era of Transformers right? '87 had a lot of big Transformers so we're trying to reconcile that going forward.
