Since I've been told many times that our opinions as grognard fans has no common group with what a kid think: what DO kids think of Siege so far? Does anyone here have kids that play with the Siege toys? Do they find them cool? Or is this truly just a line for crusty grognards. Just wondering.

I was just responding to Skritz and getting overly sappy about it. I get too wordy sometimes that’s me eye rolling at myself.

I think Siege is great on so many levels as a fan it would be such a bummer to hear younger fans think it’s ‘meh’ I mean I would have loved these as a kid but we had a cartoon and comics and the works. This has a cartoon in the works to be released super timely like CW/TR/PotP and a comic that nobody’s loving.

I would suggest that you head over to the fan modes thread on tfw2005. Someone showed off some configurations for his integration very recently there.

I’ll admit it I honestly thought the modern at the time art of the 80’s was better I didn’t have proper context or really realize to what extent he wasn’t just drawing but creating and how much he influenced what I was already loving. Now? Now my life would just be empty space without Kirby dots to fill it

I don't think it would be a bummer, just shows that everyone can have their own Optimus Prime (or a version of like Primal) Some kids joined the fandom knowing only Primal, others would swear that any of the Unicron Trilogy Primes would be theirs. All are welcome, they are all transformers after all.

That is awesome! And Cybertron or the trilogy all together was so full of nods and fan service it’s hard not to love something at least one or two things out of each of those series. Even though Armada wasn’t my favorite it gave us Optimus with laser activated pants. Now that... is amazing.

It's really only Energon and some of Cybertron that had all those homages. Armada was predominately new stuff, while Energon was the 20th anniversary line and Cybertron just sprinkled in some of that same nostalgia.

Ohhh, I wouldn't say that. Armada had a fair bit of homage in it, particularly in the design department. Armada Optimus, for example, is a composite homage to Powermaster Optimus Prime/Super Ginrai, Star Convoy, and Laser Optimus Prime. Hell, in his Super Mode he even resurrects the Laser Rod gimmick. Jetfire and Overload both take at least some inspiration from Sky Garry and Grandus respectively.

Not at first. The decision to bring him into the series came late in the game, during the second year of the line. The original intent for the line was just the Mini-Con scavenger hunt to cash in on the Pokemon craze at the time.

The name "Unicron Trilogy" didn't even come about officially until 2009, seven years after Armada began and three years after Cybertron ended. While in Japan, it's instead known as the "Micron Trilogy" (with "Micron" being the Japanese name for "Mini-Con").

I have to disagree with the Summary for the Review. I'm not a huge fan of the Weaponizer Gimmick, and because of it Brunt siffers from Parts Forming, but I throughly enjoy his figure, and I love it just as much as I do Cog, maybe more. Sixgun has the cooler Vehicle mode, even though he doesnt match the legends Scamper, but Brunt is in no way any weaker than the other 2. And the Stormbringer reference adds coolness points

Regarding suffering from partsforming... Brunt was ALWAYS a partsformer. All three of the characters made into Weaponizers for SIEGE were partsformers from the beginning. Brunt didn't even have a robot mode originally - he was just a tank that broke up into extra parts for Trypticon's battlestation/space cruiser and city modes.

In fairness to the review, Chuckdawg was specifically saying that Brunt was weaker as a weaponizer, because of not having quite as many different possibilities as the other two on that front. For those who don't care about the gimmick, that's obviously a non-issue.

Regarding Sixgun, I must reiterate that he's basically the original Weaponizer. His original toy had the very same gimmick, with most of him being made of weapons that could be used to arm Metroplex, combiners, or anyone else with 5mm fist holes.

That's interesting, the weaponizers were actually the fastest movers for each wave in my area. Poor Skytread and Chromia were the slow sellers near me, but even those I wouldn't consider shelf warmers, as Siege has been moving pretty well here.

Tread is just a beefy Decepticon foot soldier mine’s extremely tight and well put together if anyone’s getting itchy waiting for the next wave and hasn’t picked him up yet I’d say he’s worth it. You even get that backwards compatibility with Battletrap it’s fun. I swap my wings around for robot mode so they’re flared up he looks super rad.

Aww man that’s too bad they’re the most versatile fun figures in the line I think. It’s like Micronauts I just love how you can make any imaginary weapon or hardware you want. Cog being designated a mechanic just makes it that much cooler for some reason it also reminds me of Bort from Mighty Orbots a bit

Same for me, the weaponizers are almost always gone whenever I check the store. I've only seen one sixgun when searching, and I do not recall ever seeing any cogs.
