Its still that same toy, so none of us should expect miracles. But hey a nice paint job can make a real difference. Anyone have that Armour Knight Prime from Takara (AD 31) or Takara's version of FOC Soundwave?

So, seeing as NYCC starts tomorrow, what characters do you think will be revealed?

Siege Megatron and Flywheels along with SS 32 Optimus Prime.

No way! I was expecting an AOE Drift but hoping for a TLK one because I like his newer look way more. I wonder if we’ll get some more TLK Autobots with the other mini dinobots

Wow, this Drift looks AWESOME. Instant buy. Improves on every problem I had with the figure. This begs the question, though, what could they possibly improve on with Cogman? That figure's paint apps are second to none, and was basically a prequel to the level of quality we'd get in studio series. Maybe some work on the thighs, I suppose?

The Mini Dinobot is cool, I guess, in a novelty sort of way, but otherwise I don't need or want this Drift. Nice to see we can expect some quality reveals/first proper looks tomorrow though.

This begs the question, though, what could they possibly improve on with Cogman? That figure's paint apps are second to none, and was basically a prequel to the level of quality we'd get in studio series. Maybe some work on the thighs, I suppose?

Actual paint on his Headmaster bot mode, maybe? Or will that just never occur?

They shouldn't be, considering the Dropkick wave is not out yet and they are at least the wave after that.

If anything, one of the SS figures will by a NYCC exclusive, but that should be it

That would seriously surprise me when we already know what the wave before these reveals will be.

Wouldn't surprise me. A premium painted Deluxe with an extra mini figure lines up with Grotusque and Scorponok last year, as well as HASCON Arcee with Ultra Magnus, both of which were available as soon as they were announced, not to mention all of the Amazon Deluxe exclusives. The blue TLK version could be the one leaked coming to stores.

So I think at this point we can assume we're seeing Drift tomorrow, but who do we think will accompany him? Cogman, Scrapmetal, and Hightower, since they got Amazon listings with Drift? Bonecrusher and DotM Prime? Other people we don't know about?

Also, I think if Drift doesn't come with all three Mini Dinobots, then it's probably safe to assume that we'll get the other two with other figures to complete the trio, probably other TLK characters. Maybe that's how Cogman will be different this time, by including a small metal dinosaur?

That's true, my point was more or less that studio series has been consistently major, hyper-accurate repaints or new molds. I just don't see a lot of room for improvement to the standard of the other figures, especially Drift if he ends up looking like this render.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm not normally bothered by that kinda thing. Same thing with being able to see the robot mode bits on the bottom of vehicle modes. I don't really care, as long as it looks nice from the other (more important) angles.

Well, ( guess this repainted TLK Deluxe Drift in the Studio Series further validates what many fans have felt: the Premium Series TLK line was a preview/pilot of the Studio Series to come a year later, and the figures in the Premium Series line are considered "compatible" with the Studio series by Hasbro and Takara.

I am ALL for a shiny new paint job, but if it’s just the same clunky looking, kibbley old Drift mold, then that kind of negates any excitement I’d have over this exclusive. I skipped right over every movie Drift figure because not a single on interested me. But I’d like to have a Drift figure. That’s why I was hoping the new SS figure would succeed where I felt the previous ones failed.

I don’t know though. If it’s not stupidly overpriced, or too difficult to get my hands on one, then maybe I’d try to get it. If only for the paint job, and to fill out my movie cast. He does look pretty.

I didn't get TLK Drift cos I preferred the AoE figure I already had but I might get this version for the nicer paintjob and mini-dinobot if they are indeed included.
